Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Adriane waited and waited, but she did not get an answer from Wendy. So the frowned and looked at them, “Why are you all looking at me like that?”
Wendy rubbed her eyes to make sure she was not hallucinating Arthur was heavy even though he was ill. He was a man, after all. Wendy began to wonder. “How did a girl like Adriane manage to carry him from the bed without any effort?”
Yael was more shocked than Wendy. He had many doubts in his mind, and one of them was, “Miss Stewart, are you sure you are a weak woman?”
Arthur sat frozen in his wheelchair. He was first bewildered, then frustration kicked in. With his gaze turning cold, Arthur clenched his teeth and said, “Get out.”
Adriane lifted her chin and said proudly to Wendy, “Did you hear that? He is asking you to get out!”
“Adriane Stewart,” Arthur called Adriane by her full name and then continued, “I meant you.”
“Huh?” Adriane was puzzled. Sadness struck her. She did not know what she had done that made Arthur mad again.
Seeing Arthur’s cold gaze under his thick eyelashes, Adriane shuddered a little, and she said obediently. “Alright, I’ll get out.”
With her head down, Adriane dragged her steps as she walked out of Arthur’s room. Then Arthur glanced at Wendy and said, “You! Get lost.”
Wendy was not as stubborn as before anymore when she realized that Arthur was furious for real this time. She left the room with her head down too.
Yael walked out of Arthur’s room to contact Tom, Arthur was alone in his room after everyone left. Arthur shut his eyes and could not stop recalling the soft touch he felt when Adriane carried him in her arms. It was just like he had always imagined about her.
Ever since he was a child, he had hated women’s touch. No women worked with him when he was a CEO, and he never brought dates to parties.
Arthur wondered, “Why do I feel ashamed when Adriane carried me in her arms, but I don’t hate it when she touches me?”
He had been aware of this since Adriane stayed in his mansion, but he did not ponder the reason behind it. Now he had to face his feelings for her.
Soon, Arthur got a call from Tom. He called to apologize, “Wendy has been doing well in school and hospital, and I thought it would be fine to give her a chance to do some simple upper limb physiotherapy with you. Maybe Wendy misunderstood what I meant when we discussed a new treatment plan. I’m so sorry for what happened.”
Tom did not know what would happen next after apologizing. He and Arthur had been friends for years. Tom knew Arthur had pride and would not forgive someone because he was an acquaintance of his.
Unexpectedly, Arthur said calmly, “Bring her with you tomorrow. Both of you instruct me.”
“Did he just get over the matter easily?” Tom thought as he looked out of the window to check if pigs were flying in the sky.
“Okay”
Tom went back to the hospital that day and asked Wendy to come to his office. He scolded her strictly.
Wendy did not dare to offend the best doctor in the hospital. She pretended to be innocent while crying, “I did not mean to offend him.”
Tom would have fired Wendy if Arthur had not asked him to bring along Wendy the next day. He wanted an assistant with not only dedication and skills but also integrity
Her crying irritated Tom. He pushed the brim of his glasses and said, “Alright, you can leave now You will not be let off with a warning if you do something like this again next time.”
Adriane was angry again after she left the room. She had not yet made Arthur apologize for calling her a pet that morning. Determined, Adriane swore she would not talk to Arthur anymore.
Chapter 29
That night, she had her dinner in her room in protest.
Everything was fine until the next day. Yael knocked on Adriane’s room door, saying that he came to take Adriane to the rehabilitation room on the third
floot.
Adriane squinted her eyes and had her guards on, “Why?”
Adriane had been protecting Arthur, yet he chased her out of his room. She had decided to ignore Arthur. It was not like she could not live without him
Yael said, “It’s Mr. Arthur’s order.”
Adriane snorted, “Why should I go because he ordered? I’m not going. Ask him to come personally and ask me if he wants me to go.”
Then Adriane slammed the door shut. She thought no one would disturb her again, but after a few minutes, there was another knock at the door.
Adriane opened the door and blurted out, “I told you to let Arthur… Artie?”
At the door, a handsome man in a wheelchair sat there with a calm look on his face. It was Arthur!
He frowned slightly, “Alright, I’m here to ask you to come with me.”
Adriane never thought Arthur would come personally because of what she demanded out of anger.
Arthur did not know if Adriane had forgiven him because she did not seem like she wanted to follow him.
“I let you stay in your room the whole day because you were mad at me. You wanted me to come personally, and I came. So, can you go with me to the rehabilitation room now?”
Adriane’s anger dissipated when she heard that. It was somewhat funny to see Arthur being so arrogant even though he was persuading her.
“Alright,” Adriane decided to go with Arthur since he came to her personally to ask her.
They took the elevator to the third floor. As soon as the elevator door opened, Adriane saw the bright rehabilitation room, and in it stood two medical personnel she knew.
Under Tom’s order, Wendy pretended to be sorry and regretful as she approached Arthur. She wanted to apologize, “Mr. Arthur, I was anxious yesterday because I was worried about your health.”
“Stop!” Arthur quickly shouted and pointed to the ground when he saw Wendy was getting nearer to him, “Don’t come near me. Just stand there.”
Although Wendy was not as enchanting as Adriane, she was still the prettiest girl in her former medical school. Boys would comfort her whenever she put on a sad look like that. It would melt everyone’s heart.
She wanted to tug on Arthur’s sleeve while she apologized. Since Arthur refused to let her approach him, she could only shed tears to get Arthur’s pity. “Mr. Arthur, I’m sorry.”
Arthur’s face was cold the moment he saw Wendy. Finally, his frustration kicked in, and he said, “Stay away from me if you have finished apologizing”
Arthur did not need to measure the distance between him and Wendy. He felt she was too close to him even when she was already three feet away from
hum.
After waning Wendy to stay away from him, Arthur motioned Adriane to push his wheelchair forward and listened to Tom’s brief about his treatment with him.
Over the next few months, they would be working on strengthening Arthur’s fingers, arms, and waist. He had to increase his physiotherapy load gradually. After Tom briefed everything to them, he squatted to guide Arthur,
Unexpectedly, Arthur asked Adriane spontaneously, “Do you understand what Tom explained just now?”
Adriane nodded. It was just about moving the fingers, which was quite simple. That was what Adriane thought, but she did not say it out loud.

“Then you assist me,” Arthur gave order like he usually did.
Adriane’s eyes widened. She was not a professional physiotherapist. She thought, “What if I do it wrongly?”
Seeing the doubt on Adriane’s face, Arthur said calmly, “What are you afraid of? Dr. White is here to guide you.”
Tom looked at Arthur and then at Adriane. Then he pushed the brim of his glasses, “Well then.”

Adriane leaned towards Arthur and whispered, “You seemed to dislike me touching you yesterday. Are you sure you are alright with this?”
Arthur’s gaze turned cold. He thought, “Are you sure you were just touching me yesterday?”
“Shut up.”
Adriane realized that her question had annoyed Arthur. She grinned and annoyed Arthur more, “I am strong, right? I’ve been working out since I was a kid and my body is perfectly fit.”
“Adriane,” Arthur called Adriane’s name and continued, “Assist me with my physiotherapy now.”
Adriane could hear the warning sign in Arthur’s voice. She accepted her “fate” and was about to squat like Tom. Suddenly, someone dashed towards them and said, “Mr. Arthur, I’ll assist you!”
Arthur’s physiotherapy was mainly on his upper limbs that day, but Adrine saw that Wendy was dashing towards Arthur’s legs. Without thinking much,
Adriane kicked Wendy away.
