BATTLES: The Royal Invasion

Chapter 21

“What is this?” Deon said as he was examining one of the corpses in the mass grave that Franklin has accidentally discovered under the debris. John got closer to have a closer look at the body which was eaten by worms.

“This poor guy…was bitten in his stomach” John said.

“Yeah…look at the size of this holes…it’s like…3 inches…they are monsters with no brain” said Franklin furiously.

John nodded when Deon began to bury the corpse under the debris out of respect.

“Let’s go” said John to his companions to continue the journey which took 4 hours till now without any results. These three men only motive was hope, hope to find another base to join forces with base 4 or just find some survivors who needs help.

“Ironic” John said to himself as a slight smile appeared on his face when he remembered when one of his friends asked him to define hope and John simply said: hope is nothing but a sharp chain losers and naïve people hold to it to eventually cut them.

John remembered this when hope became like food and water in this gravy unsafe life, the life after invasion which full of fear and the sense of oppression.

John lost his train of thoughts when they saw a fireball on distance, they felt suddenly energetic when they saw it and decided to get closer to observe what was going on.

“Let’s go to this hill to have a better look” Deon was pointing at hill made of the debris not so far away from the fireball.

When they took their position things were began to get clear of what was happening. They spotted these zombies surprisingly trying to kill a group of monsters. The group was made of 4 monsters approximately 15 meters tall with ugly faces such the three giants that John fought with his companions before.

“These monsters are damn ugly” said John as he was watching this fight.

Despite the zombies had the superiority being more than the four monsters by a long shot but they were struggling against them. Some of the zombies was wearing the uniform of the resistance which meant they were attacked by them.

“These four monsters are just looking the same” said Deon referring to their physique; huge arms and thigs, eyes like a torch thick backs with cracks that of the alligators.

“How could be they be in the same army and began to fight each other?” asked Deon as his companions watched the fight with wide open eyes.

“I don’t know…I really don’t know… but it’s like a lady fight, boys” said Franklin.

The three men felt like they was little too close from the fight.

“We have to move, guys” said Deon but his companions but they was too busy watching.

The four monsters had similar attacks to the three giants; they can breathe fire and shoot fire out of their eyes.

The four monsters eventually managed to defeat the zombies after an intense fight but the three men couldn’t believe what happened next; the four monsters pick up the bodies of the defeated zombies and began to eat them even the three men could hear some of the zombies screaming as they was being eaten.

This scene made them realize that they was too much close.

“We should get the fuck out of here” said John as they began to retreat and luckily to them the four monsters was busy eating their huge meal.

The three men continued their journey as they was thinking of what they just saw.

“What is really going on?” said Deon knowing no one of them could answer this question but even they might be speechless.

“I don’t know…but this…this wasn’t normal in anyway…it’s like the resistance is losing just like that Zarro said” said John.

“What do you mean?” Deon asked.

“I mean if the resistance had a strong presence we had been witnessed them and as you saw some of the zombies was wearing the uniform of the resistance”

There was silence but there was a storms of thoughts inside their heads before franklin said: you started this journey hoping to find a base and here you are spreading desperate among us.

“I never meant this” said John.

“John…I really admire that personality you have…but you should use your head to think in longer terms” said Franklin.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean you should think of the consequences of what you’re saying or doing”

John was like he got slapped on the face: I didn’t meant to make you feel desperate…I only wanted to say that the aliens probably spread this rumor.

“Why?” Deon asked.

John was like he was trying to breath underwater as he was thinking in answer of this question before he said: I don’t know but more likely to make us feel desperate.

“Really?! And what makes you not a soldier for them?” said Deon furiously.

John’s legs stopped moving when he heard these words: me?!...you must be crazy to say something like this.

John looked at franklin and he was looking at him with a dead eyes it was like he was saying: I agree with Deon.

“Are you crazy?” said John but they never said something back to him they was only staring.

John realized that they are thinking this way because they felt surrounded like a bird in a cage who are ready to do anything to get free, but John was surrounded like just like them. He suddenly said: really?! Are you accusing me of being a spy for them or something? Why it’s not you? Or at least one of you”

All of them started to look at each other with suspicions even Deon took a boxing style stand ready for what it was like ‘die with honor’ if was one of them an alien.

Suddenly the ground began to shake but not like an earthquake but it was more like a steps. The three men began to look at each other and look around them trying to locate the source of the shaking but it suddenly stopped.

“Alright…what was that?” John said.

Franklin was looking left and right before he said: you asking me?! How could I know?

“This is wasn’t a quake right, guys?” said Deon.

“It was like a steps…not an earthquake” said John.

“Wait a second…” said Franklin.

“You know what I’m thinking right now?” said John.

“The monsters!” said Deon like he was struck by a lightning bolt.

Suddenly the steps has accelerated.
