Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Claire’s POV
Over a half year later, I finished my further training, which helped me become a better version of myself. The intense program pushed me to my limits, but it was all worth it.
Upon returning home, I finally received a promotion at the hospital where I’d worked for three years. I became a supervisor!
I bowed my head. “Thank you, everyone!”
Everyone clapped with pure joy and called out, “You deserve it, Dr. Claire!”
Then, as I looked around, I saw Gabriella and Caitlyn with beaming smiles. Caitlyn approached me. “You’re keeping a secret from us,” she said.
I kept walking and opened the door to my clinic, intending to place the bouquet on my desk. “Huh? What are you talking about? I don’t have any secrets…”
“Nothing? As in nothing?” Gabriella asked with pure curiosity in her eyes.
My lips parted as I smelled the roses. “Hmm, nothing…”
Gabriella teased, “Nothing? Are you sure?”
Just then, Marisa walked towards us and said, “Dr. Claire, The CEO wants to see you in his office.”
I smiled softly, glancing at my two friends whose knowing smiles told a story. “You guys are such dirty minds…” “You’re dating Dr. Jackson?” Caitlyn exclaimed.
I just shrugged my shoulders and gave them no answer, then walked away with a smile.
I knocked at Jackson‘ s office, and I heard his deep baritone voice inside, “Come in…,

I walked in with a smile on my face. I couldn’t help but stare at his handsome face. It’s been two months since we started dating, and being with him has always been a source of happiness for me.
He stood up and rolled up his sleeves. “Hey, love.”
I closed the door behind me, and my cheeks reddened. “Hi, love.”
I glanced at all the paperwork he needed to sign, and he smiled at me and said, “Yeah, it’s been a busy day today.” But I want to see you have energy.
I walked towards him and hugged him tightly. “Uh, my boyfriend is tired? Do you want me to cook something for tonight?”
“Hmm, yes, I hope you‘ re not busy,” he said.
“No, I’m not busy tonight.” I said.
you
Later that night, while I was preparing food in the kitchen, I suddenly saw a red box under the table. When I opened it, it was a diamond engagement ring.
I glanced up and saw a nervous–looking Jackson in the corner as if he were trying to find something.
Are you looking for something?” I asked.
He turned his head away. “Hmm, no.
There was a moment of silence, so I stood up, finally showed it to him, and asked, “Are you looking for this?”
His cheeks flushed, and his eyes widened in surprise. “Oh, I want to make a nice proposal, but I think…
I took a deep breath and laughed. “No, it‘ s okay… There” s still time. Don’t worry, I won’t laugh…
With a low laugh, he got down on one knee and opened the red box. “Claire, baby, I want to spend the rest of with you. Will you marry me?”
A tear of happiness filled my eyes as I said, “Yes.

NEW YEAR‘ SEVE.
“Love, your phone…” Jackson called me softly. “Yeah… coming.
my life
My phone, an unexpected interruption, kept ringing in the corner of my bed‘ s side table. Frowning, I picked it up and saw an unknown number calling me.
I answered it with a sigh and asked, “Hello, who is this?”
And I heard a very familiar voice say, “Happy New Year… I wish you all the happiness in this world.” His words, laden with emotion, sounded drunk.
I was silent for a minute, the tension thick in the air, waiting for him to say something, until he softly whispered my name, “Claire…
I slowly put down my phone. My heart raced, but his situation was no longer my concern.
Jackson walked into our room and asked, “And who’s that?
I shrugged and said, “Nothing, just some random stranger.
Then I walked towards him and placed a kiss on my husband‘ s lips. “I love you.
He whispered back, “I love you’too, my love… Come on, let‘ s watch the fireworks…” THE END
