Alpha's Little Vampire Mate

Chapter 35. Marcus warning

Marcus's

POV:

"Fucking Cara! Damn!"

I shot him an icy glare. "Shut the fuck up, Titus!" I snapped. "None of this would have happened, if you hadn't let your pervertedness get the best of you! I'm still in disbelief that you had the nerve to draw my woman... naked!"

He rubbed a palm down his face as a frustrated sigh left him. "Look Marcus... it just kind of happened, you know? I had the woman of my dreams-"

My wolf started growling, getting ready to pounce on him but I fought him, holding him back even when he tried to forcefully shift me. Titus was a different case... he was fretting and completely oblivious to the fact that he was a few seconds from being ripped apart!

"-I couldn't control myself, but I promise, I only took a peek and that was all! No touching, no feeling her up and I didn't look at her body for a minute!"

My eyes lowered to the erection that was forming in his trousers and this time, I didn't hold back. I had lost it completely! I moved quickly, raising my fist and punching him square in the face. "You should learn to control your evil desires, that's what real men do."

I heard him scoff behind me, as I turned around and walked out of the office. I ascended the stairs, trying to be as quiet as I could, even if I knew that Chloe would still be able to hear me. My heart shattered, as her quiet sobs reached my ears. I tried to do everything I could not to hurt her, but in the end of it all, she's always the one hurting. However, can I give her the happiness she deserves?

The whole situation made me angry at Titus, angry at that stupid Cara and even angrier at myself. I was Alpha of one of the strongest packs around, I made people tremble before me, I made women feel loved and they all kept throwing themselves at me. I was capable of all these, but what-or rather; who I wanted the most, I couldn't have completely.

I was left in amazement, when she finally agreed for me to mark her. She had no trust in me, which was kind of getting old... because she never failed to show her distrust by her actions, if not her words.

I raised my hand to knock on the door, but it dropped limply by my side. I exhaled deeply, mustering up courage, I finally knocked. I called out to her, but she wasn't responding. I tried to get a read out of her mind, that was when I saw... Angelo?!

The anger that had started to dissolve, kick started again and at the moment, I felt like breaking something. That was the reason why she had run all the way back to the royal house, to tell me about what she had seen out in the forest. That fool, Angelo... he'd scared her to the death!

"Yes... he had."

I spun around, coming face to face with the aforementioned. I opened my mouth to yell, but then I remembered that Chloe was sitting just behind the closed door.

I grabbed onto his arm firmly, trying to pull him back downstairs with me. He didn't move an inch, not even his hand. "Don't test me," I whispered.

He rolled his eyes, roughly snatching his hand out of my grip. "Stop overreacting, she can't hear us."

I gave him a suspicious look. "What have you done?"

He gave me a straight look, then released a sigh. "It's a 'silence' spell," he paused, walking away from me and down the stairs. "She can't and wouldn't be able to hear anything, not even a pin drop."

I followed closely behind him. "Well, that doesn't give you any right to teleport into my house whenever you like," I said in a warning tone. "Get out!"

"I know that, you should have discovered that I made an appearance to her," he said, ignoring my words. "You read me in her thoughts, didn't you?"

He turned around to smirk at me, and I gave him the finger. "I thought I warned you not to appear before her? How dare you scare my woman like that?!"

I shoved him in the chest, and he staggered a few steps back. He gave me a smug look and I had to mentally chastise myself not to hit him. "Let me see her... Yes?"

"No," I gritted out through clenched teeth.

"Yes?"

"No."

"Yes."

"And I said: no!" I snapped, shooting him an icy glare.

He nodded challengingly. "Well then, we shall see about that," he stated boldly.

I scoffed, disguising the laugh that was struggling to make its way out of my throat. If he thought I was going to let him into Chloe's life, only to leave her further in confusion and fear... then, he had something else coming for him. "Lock the door to every room in this house," Angelo said suddenly, a serious look taking over his face. Before I even bothered to ask why, he spoke. "I hear her packing up her things, I don't think you would be getting any for a very long time." "Shut your trap," I hissed. He passed me a cocky smirk, "and wipe that stupid smirk off that stupid face of yours, before I do it for you!"

Without hesitation, I dipped my hand in my coat and pulled out a bunch of keys. I shoved him aside, moving around him to start locking the doors. He instructed that I left the room closest to mine unlocked, predicting that she'd have no option but to move into that one.

It wasn't a bad idea, I wanted her as close as possible and if Angelo hadn't asked that I give her some space to relax, I would fight her for leaving our bedroom. How was I supposed to sleep at night, without her in my arms? "Now now... we have some cleaning up to do, don't we?"

He vanished after saying that. I groaned, but still sped up the stairs. My mouth fell open, once I saw the room. "What just happened here?" I asked, looking around the well tidied room. "Did you clean up a whole room in a matter of seconds?!" A smug look took over his features, but my mind was too occupied to get irritated. "It is one of the many abilities I possess," he stated proudly.

My mind went back to Chloe, and I wondered what more she could do. "Does Chloe know how to do the things you do?"

He gave me a pointed look. "You never will be able to handle all that she's capable of doing," he replied.

I just kept silent, my gaze following him when he pulled out a box of chocolate from his cape and dropped it in the middle of the bed. He pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, handing both to me. "I need a note, write whatever you'd like her to read."

I eyed him suspiciously, but still took the pen and paper from him. "How can I trust you? How do I know the chocolates are not poisoned?" I scribbled away on the paper anyway.

He groaned, snatching the note once I was done. He folded it neatly, placing it on top of the chocolate. "Don't be stupid, Blackwood... I know you werewolves can perceive poison."

I wasn't pleased at his hint of an insult, but I wasn't angry at all. We walked out, leaving the door just a crack open. "What next?" I enquired, p once we stepped out of the front door.

He shrugged, becoming invisible again. The air carried his voice when he spoke: "let's take a walk into the woods, give her some time alone."

The woods: wasn't the desired place I wanted to be in, but I couldn't say Angelo wasn't making some sense. I needed to give her some time to cool off, only then would it be possible to reason with her.

Off into the woods we went.

***

I sat by the stream, the very one Chloe liked to visit. We'd been sitting here for over ten minutes, with our legs immersed in the water and we hadn't said a word to each other. I was far off in my own thoughts, and I guessed it was same with Angelo.

"So..." I started. I didn't turn to look at him, I just kept staring into space. "You still wouldn't tell me what the matter is, would you?"

A deep but low chuckle rumbled out of his chest. "And you still wouldn't let me see my sister, would you?"

I gave him a dirty look, my mouth snapping shut. As much as I wanted to know what the matter was, I also had Chloe to protect. I couldn't fully trust Angelo myself, how then could I trust him with Chloe?

"Why the hell did you even come back?" I muttered.

"To see Chloe of course," he replied coolly.

"You must be some sort of lunatic, if you think I'll let you get to her!"

He laughed, and laughed some more.

If deadly glares had suddenly become amusing, then I wouldn't be wondering if Angelo was sick in the head. "Pray tell, what amuses you so?" I asked, when he wouldn't stop laughing.

His laughter died down to little giggles, and he gave me a mocking look. "I find it really funny, that you think you can hinder me from meeting my sister." He paused, adjusting his features back to their blank look. "You really are an interesting one..." he trailed off.

Whatever that meant for him, I wasn't about to ask. But what I do know for sure was that: I wasn't about to let him intimidate or bully me into leading him to Chloe.

He suddenly got to his feet and I followed suit. He dusted off a speck of dust on his cape, then put his hands behind his back and gave me a deep bow. "We shall meet again, sooner than you expect. I hope that the next time we meet, you should have made your decision by then."

I nodded. "Now get going-"

He vanished into thin air.

"-and stay gone!" I yelled into the empty space, however, not meaning any of that.

If anything; I was anxious! I needed whatever information he had and I wouldn't mind putting up with his queerness, if he could drop the act and let me in on what was happening.

I looked around one more time, then started heading out the forest. I found Chloe's and Lily's dresses where they had left them by the foot of a tree, picked them up and started making my way home. I needed to be sure that Chloe was alright...

I was having a weird feeling and-

My heart stopped for a second, my breath ceased and my whole body quivered in fear, when Chloe's scream reached my ears. No invitation needed, my legs moved on their own accord, running with vampire speed and no longer minding who was going to see me.

I ran right into the front door, not bothering to pull it open and it fell off it's hinges, crashing to the floor. I didn't have the interest to marvel at my new found strength, as only one person was on my mind. "Marcus!"

"Chloe!" I yelled back.

I saw her dash out of the room Angelo and I had prepared for her, almost tripping as she ran down the stairs and dived into my arms. I wrapped my arms firmly around her, giving her a light peck on the forehead. "What happened baby?" She pointed a quivering finger towards her room. "There... there... is something," she panted, fear filled eyes staring up at me. "something is up there, we need to get out of here!"

I took her face in between my palms, holding her eyes with mine. "What exactly did you see?" I pretended to ask, while actually getting a read out of her.

Damn. Fucking. Angelo!

I can't believe he had to go to such extents to scare her, what a bastard! He hadn't left, he'd gone back to Chloe's room. He was playing all these funny tricks, so I'd have no option but to tell Chloe about him. Such a manipulating fox!

"Marcus why aren't you moving!" Chloe asked with a panicked filled voice. "Let's leave please, I don't think I can spend another second in this house... I beg you!"

I nodded, pulling her into a hug. My eyes raised to the top floor, when I noticed some movement. Angelo stepped out of Chloe's room, grinning from ear to ear, as he made eye contact with me.

He waved cheerfully, and I had to bite my lips to stop myself from cursing at him. He was starting to over do it and this time around, he'd passed his limits!

Well... I wasn't going to sit back and watch...
