Chapter 101
Chloe's POV:
"Are you stalking me?!"
His thin lips pursed into a frown and he gave me a disapproving gaze and I lowered my eyes, feeling like a little child. "Look here young lady, as jobless as I may seem to you, I have far more important things to do than keep an eye on you all day! So, do not pride yourself so much, I do not have time for such shenanigans!"
I was a little embarrassed, but still forced myself to ask. "Then, how did you know I had come to ask for your help?"
"I felt it," he replied almost immediately, his sharp eyes never leaving mine. "That is one power we possess Chloe, you and I, but you are yet to discover yours..."
I nodded. "I need your help!"
"I know," he said, waving me into a chair which I did not oblige. "Sit down and let us talk, or get out of my cave," he snapped.
I glared at him, not liking that he talked to me like I were a baby. But with no more reasonable option that to comply, I went and sat myself down in Angelo's seat. "I have been accused falsely and I need to prove my innocence. I know you have the power to help me, so help me," I said.
He leaned deeper into his throne, if that was even possible, with a smug look on his face. I held back a groan, hating the fact that I had stroked his fat ego by coming to him for help. "So," he finally spoke after a minute of silence. "What's in it for me?"
I raised a brow at him, wondering how I could be blood related to such a devious devil. "That was why I said help," I struggled to say calmly. "Help means you should not expect anything in return," I tried to make him see reason. "No child," he reply, shaking his head in disagreement. "That is not the way things are done around here, for everything you get, you have to give back something in return!"
I nodded. "I see, so you are not going to help me because I have nothing to offer?"
"Yes, I will not help you!"
I sent him a deadly glare, which promised an excruciating and slow death of thorough pain and suffering. "What do you want then?" I asked in a snappy tone.
He gave me a grin, showing too much teeth than I would have really loved to see(because he looked too creepy in that moment). "We will see," he reply, rising to his feet and suspending on the air, he floated down his throne and towards me. "Come, this way!"
I followed immediately, levitating a little and also joined in the floating, until we stopped in front of a familiar door. I cursed under my breath, seeing that it was the very one I had refused entering when he first brought me here. I turned to eye him. "Do we really need to go in there?"
"Yes," he replied coolly, turning to face me. "If you want answers, you have go in there and consult our ancestors. It might be a little challenging, as you have not been properly introduced yet."
Shit!
"Must I go in with you? Can't you just go in there and come out with the answers I seek?"
He gave me a pointed look, then turned around without saying any words. He stretched both his hands before the door, muttering what I assumed to be a string of spells and soon; the huge doors parted open. He floated in, then turned around and faced me. "Whenever you are ready, you know what to do," he said and before I could stop him, the door closed with a loud thud.
My jaw dropped and my wolf had to remind me to close it, else it would hit the ground. Realization set in and I began to understand that I had just been ditch and left helpless, all because I had hesitated? My grandfather was a wicked demon, I know that for sure now!
I raised my hands just as I had seen him do and the spells just flew out of my mouth eloquently, like they weren't words of my own. I took a surprise step back when to my amazement, the doors parted open and the dark hall was there for me to walk right in.
I looked down at my hands in wonder. How I had done that, I had no idea of but what I did know was that I was loving it. I had been daring f enough to open the door, so what was holding me back from entering?
I took a deep breath and floated right through the door and I waited for it to close, looking around the darkness and expecting my eyes to glow and adjust, just like it had done the other time but nothing! Then I remembered that hat my grandfather had done and I turned around, facing outside. In less than two seconds, the door slammed shut and the room lit up with a blinding light like that of the sun.
I closed my eyes, slowly opening them to see a large room with countless... Standing coffins?
"I see a wingless chicken finally grew some wings," I heard my grandfather's teasing voice and turned around swiftly. He was standing with his back to me, looking at something ahead that I could not see. I floated towards him and it was when I got beside him that I saw what had caught his attention.
The largest coffin in the room!
"Is she not beautiful," he muttered more to himself that to me. As I'd he had heard the question on my mind, he went ahead to explain. "The mother Dracula, creator of all vampires! It was from her that we came into existence and to her, shall we all return to never servants and serve beside her to protect more of our kind that are to come!"
Wow! I kept quiet, too afraid to speak. I did not know I was going to be interested, talk more of so interested, when my grandfather had asked me to come here but somehow, the story had captivated me and now, I wanted to know more. All I had to do, was tell my grandfather and before I knew it, he took me around the hall, walking from coffin to coffin and introducing me to everyone of them. I was already getting fed up and soon I wanted to ask that he paused what he was talking about and asked the ancestors to provide me answer to my-
"You are too impatient," he muttered, a little chuckle leaving him. "You have to be humble and patient, that is the only way they can help you," he said. "Sit down," he ordered.
I was going to ask him where, when I saw him lowering himself unto the floor. Without further ado, I lowered myself down beside him, crossing my legs like his nd stretching my hands forward like I saw him doing. "Good," he muttered. "Now, you close your eyes and call on any coven master you like, then, you can ask whatever questions you want and I hope you get all your answers."
I took a deep breath, readying myself before my eyes fluttered shut. I let my mind connect with the strong forces that were present in the room. I tried to remember any other names, but none came and as daring as this sounded, I felt myself going to call the mother demon's name yet then, stopped myself before I could. Was I ready to meet such a powerful being?
Luckily for me, it sounded like the air around me was whispering And I listened attentively. I grabbed at least two names, calling out to the first one that reached my tongue and almost immediately, my mind began to turn hazy like I was going into some kind of sleep or losing unconsciousness. Then a few seconds later, everything cleared I no longer found myself in the hall, but in a different part of the woods back at home.
I watched carefully and soon, Cara stepped out of nowhere, waking in front of me. She looked to be sneaking off to somewhere. I followed quietly, watching to see what she was going to do. Then, there was another man. She smiled up at him when she saw him, then went to wrap her arms around him but he pushed her away. They had an argument about how she would not stop seeing Marcus, then she defended herself and promised him that she had stopped seeing him and would not be with him. They started kissing and then, another man up in the trees told him not to get distracted and do what there came here for. Cara's eyes widened when she realized what they had come to do and before she could run, her lover stabbed her in the heart. She could not scream, her eyes remained on him she turned unconscious in his arms.
He lowered her to the ground with her in his arms, crying and asking for her forgiveness. That his only happiness was that she finally got to really see him for once, that he was the last person she saw before she left earth.
The one in the trees descended, pulling the body away from him and then removing the knife that was imbedded in her chest and started stabbing her at random, against the protest of her lover. Then he took out a note and placed it on her back pocket. He asked her lover to leave, while he stayed back and watched over the body until everyone had left. He grabbed it by the leg and vanished, the appeared at what I recognized as my house back in wolf town. He left the body right where we had seen it the next morning, and vanished!
Just like that, the sight vanished from before me and all I saw was darkness. Then, from the darkness, a demon sprung forward with red dangerous eyes and a pair of fangs dripping with blood. She was trying to speak to me and I must have understood that she was asking if I needed any more answers but I shook my head, then she vanished back into the darkness letting me regain my senses slowly.
I was back in the room with many coffins and I looked up at my grandfather who was staring down at me with a proud smile on his face. "Whay just happened?"
"You just summoned a past coven mistress, I am so proud of you," he said. His eyes flickered down to my stomach and rested there for a while, he kept saying some things that I could not comprehend but whatever he was seeing right now, made him really happy. "Congratulations," he said in a chirpy voice. "I guess you will be seeing less of me for now," he whispered, helping me off the ground.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, eying him cautiously.
"Nothing," he replied hastily the started to hum happily as he walked away from me and towards the door. "Let's head out, unless you want to join your ancestors?"
What do you know? As soon as he said the words, I ran after him and stayed very close as he pulled the door open and we stepped out into the once dark cave. The inside of the coffin was different. While the outside did not have a door knob or key hole, the inside did. But that was the least of my worries for now.
"Let's go get your brothers," Dracula said. "With what you saw, we have to very careful because he is getting closer to you by the day. That was only a means to get closer to you nd your stupid wolf friend had fallen prey to him!"
My eyes hardened as I finally allowed myself to think of the revelation I had gotten. All I had to do was; go back home and prove myself, then hunt down that motherfucker who thought he could ruin my life!
