Alpha's Cursed Luna

Chapter 69

ALEXANDER

Linda had kept her mouth shut throughout the entire ride. She had been looking out the window, as if she sees something out there.

My brows furrowed, confused.

Doomsayers are not even supposed to exist anymore. From what I've heard, wolves of her kind had been burned alive. They were perceived as nothing more than bad omen to the pack. My father told me this.

I grunted, deciding not to dwell on the matter any more than I should.

I need to focus.

She needs me, at least that's what I've wanted to believe.

I kept my gaze glued to the road in front of me. About an hour and a half later, I stepped on the brake.

Linda gripped the door handle as the car came to an abrupt stop.

"Get out." I order her.

She glanced at me nervously then quickly opened the door, hopping out of the car the same time I did. I sauntered around the front where Linda stood, her body shaking visibly all over.

"Shift!" I mindlinked her. We need to get to the border as soon as we can.

I watched as she hesitantly shifted into her wolf. Seconds passed and she's starting to wear out my patience. Shooting her a deathly glare, I let out a low grow! that reverberated through the forest. I could feel the ground quake beneath me and the birds dart to the sky, frightened at the sound which shook the earth for a brief moment.

She flinched back and glanced up at me with fear in her colorless, grey eyes. Almost immediately, she crouched down the ground and screamed as she summoned her wolf. I've only seen her wolf once, when I saved her when she was sixteen years old. I remember it was that old, fat man whom her father sold her to, and from that day on, she refused to speak. Her eyes had been injected with wolfsbane, and when I arrived there, it was too late.

I was then pulled out of my thoughts when Linda heaved out a heavy sigh.

The next moment, her bones started to snap. Slowly, her body began to take the form of a wolf.

It was a magnificent grey wolf with white spots on her back, tail, and legs.

A rare color for a wolf, I thought.

Other than that, she was slightly bigger than I remember.

I tilted my head when I notice Linda's watchful eyes observing me. Tearing my eyes of her, I cleared my throat and lurched myself forward. Shifting mid-air into my black and white wholf.

Unlike most alphas who have pure, nightshade black wolf, mine was a combination of my parent's. I glanced back at Linda who stood still right behind me.

'Follow me," I ordered before taking off into the forest.

We ran further into the woods, not stopping until we've finally reached the border of my territory and that of the Dark Moon Packs.

As soon as we got there, I saw Elijah and Veronyka arguing in the middle of the forest. Again. Elijah's huge, brown wolf looked down intimidatingly at Veronyka who glared right back at him with determination flashing in her eyes.

Both of them then snapped their eyes at me the exact moment I stopped at the gap between them. 'Why are you here, Vera?" I mindink.

'l want to come.’ She says firmly, turning towards me. There's a hint of worry in her eyes that I haven't seen before since she saw my mate for the first time.

'Why would you? You said you hated humans’ I reply, lifting my chin while I stared down at her in a bid to be intimidate her for once.

'And I still do!" She declares, looking at me straight in the eye when I heard her speak again.

“But then I saw how happy you were with her. Then I decided to change my mind." She says calmly, making me raise my brows and look at her like she's grown two massive heads. Her words stunned me for a moment, and I was taken aback as I saw the sincere look beaming in Vera's green eyes.

Is this really the Vera I know? It was only then that I noticed she hasn't been acting all clingy towards me for the past couple of days. Weeks, even. Vera's been around Elijah more lately. Did she find out the truth?

My wolf then travelled his eyes to Elijah, who sat back watching Vera with a gloomy expression on his face. He's been looking at Vera who refused to back down without a fight even against the alpha like myself.

'S0?' Vera blurted.

I sighed, acknowledging defeat.

“Fine’ I grunted.

Turning my back around, I shot Linda a pointed look. She lowered her head in submission whilst I nodded at the others who soon took off further beyond our territory. Veronyka immediately hopped on Elijah's back who rolled his eyes as soon as she settled on him.

I sighed before fixing my stance.

Minutes later, I was following closely behind the group, watching over them in case something dangerous stumbles into our path.

We kicked our legs, heading off deeper into another pack’s territory.

Because I was close to the last Alpha who died years ago in the Dark Moon Pack, I was given a pass. He had so much trust in me that he believed I would never harm his members.

But right now, I'm starting to doubt if I can really hold myself back when everything around me darkens.

Most especially when it comes to taking what's rightfully mine.

After a time, Elijah led us to a large mansion, much like ours. Only a little smaller.

We stopped at a tall, black gate where four of their pack warriors came rushing over to us with fury evident in their eyes. Elijah then shifted back into his human form, informing them about our identities and most especially my presence.

They then traveled their gazes over to my face and almost immediately, they lowered their heads as a sign of respect. I watched as they took in my intimidating aura before scurrying off towards the lock and opening the gates to let us in.

My wolf stood staring up and down at the pack house when I felt him stir. I furrowed my brows as the faint smell of her tantalizing scent.

'Mate!" Loki announced. I could feel the intensity of his threat seeping through the tone of his hoarse voice. A tone that could make any wolf tremble in fear before my very eyes.

'She's here.’ He says under gritted teeth.

Just as we took a step further to the large door of their pack house, it unexpectedly burst open with a thundering sound.

I shot my head up and squinted at a well-built man, all eight-pack abs walking enraged out the door with dripping wet hair and unbuttoned jeans. He obviously looked like he just got out of the shower.

I was about to shift into my human form when I noticed my mate's scent get stronger at the same time the door flew open behind the man with jet black hair, shooting daggers straight at me, but I didn't care.

My eyes widened at the sight before me.

“Eleanor.’

My Eleanor, was standing right beside the man with the same dripping wet hair, fresh clothes, and the same fucking smell of shampoo in her now pink-red hair.

It was like everything around me darkened while I tried to make sense of the situation drilling negative thoughts into my head.

“Alex.’ The sound of my name being whispered through her own lips instantly sent sparks of electricity travelling throughout my whole body. But it seemed the sound of my heart breaking into a million pieces was even stronger that it made a ringing sound reverberate through my head.

I could feel myself slipping away as Loki shoved me to the deepest pits of abyss before he gradually took complete control over my shaking body.

The last thing I saw was my wolf launching himself at the man who stood beside our mate as if he had every right to be by her side more than me. My claws elongated and I felt my wolf lash at the man's face almost immediately. My eyes burning with extreme rage, and I knew I was no longer in control of my own body.

Everything went pitch black.
