Chapter 27
ALEXANDER
“Let go of my wife!" Alpha Victor commanded using his own alpha tone and I smirked.
Does he really think he can make me obey his every word with that measly tone wrapped in his voice? I think to myself, raising an eyebrow at him, daring him to snap my fingers at once for stopping his ill-mannered wife.
“This is getting out of hand!" He slammed the table out of sheer frustration. His face burned in anger as he bore holes at me directly.
Shifting my gaze to the asshole rising from his seat in front of me, I let out a menacing growl that quaked the earth beneath us, every single wolf watching my movements instantly stilled for a second, until words were spoken by a certain Alpha sitting in our table, breaking the dead silence lingering in the air surrounding all those involved
“Release the woman, Alex. We have a bigger problem in our hands,” He exclaimed.
Arragon.
“Tch.” I rolled my eyes before freeing the hand of the woman who was just about to slap my beautiful mate across the face.
Loki growled. He'd smelt something disgusting and nefarious waving towards our direction, and it seems to be oozing off from the couple standing in front of me across the long table, the only thing currenlty filling the gap between us.
The woman who I recall is named Sandra stares at me in both fear and pain caused by my strong grip. It was then that a largely-built, tall man came forward beside the couple. He looked concerned yet in rage at the same time.
"My luna, are you hurt?" The man asked, worry evident in his expression before he spun around to give me what seems like a threatening glare.
"And who are you?" I furrowed my brows, staring down at the man who was apparently bold enough to show hostility towards me. He didn't answer me, but when I stared closely at his face, I remembered him from before. At the pack house where I first saw Eleanor, he was holding her arm too tightly my wolf almost lunged at him hadn't I been the one holding the reins.
"Beta." The word came out with a low growl erupting from my chest.
He lets out a menacing snarl before I felt Loki jump up, moving to grab the reins from me and rip the dick’'s head clean off without putting in a second thought. I growled, hardly managing to keep my wolf from taking control.
The next second Elijah emerged from behind me, taking the front line as he made a stance that showed he was ready to fight. Beta versus beta.
I felt Eleanor tug at my sleeve, making me turn my gaze at her. Her eyes sparkled with determination I don’t remember ever seeing there before. What changed?
She shook her head before stepping forward, facing the beta from her old pack.
"Hello, princess” The man grinned wickedly, mocking the word he just used to call my mate. I was about to mindlink Elijah when Eleanor spoke.
"Mike. Do you have something you want to confess?" Eleanor stared hard at the beta, before he snorted a laugh, insulting my mate in every possible way he can.
"What you said isn't completely accurate, princess. Being stern and demanding is a huge part of their training.” He said as if stating a known fact.
Eleanor went still for a moment before she took a deep, long breath.
"You and I know damn well that is not what I'm pertaining to. Tell them, Mike." She continued. I felt my body stiffen upon hearing her words. My eyes flew to the man standing as the accused, shooting daggers at him wishing a deathly glare could kill guilty men.
"There's nothing to tell.” He said firmly.
Silence enveloped the hall as they stared hard at each other with equal murderous aura about them. "That's enough.” Arragon’s voice created an echo vibrating along the walls.
Three well-muscled men then came forward, leaving no room for the Blue Mountain Pack’s alpha and luna to escape. They exchanged a meaningful look only the two of them shared and held for a long moment.
"Alpha Victor, luna, beta, let's all have a talk in my office.”
Arragon ordered. Before turning on their heels, they shot Eleanor a glare which made my mate grip the edge of my sleeve tightly, but she didn't drag her eyes away from them instead, she returned their glare with one deathly look full of pure hatred and anger, conjuring flames that enveloped her, its heat reaching my body as I stood beside her closely. A flame I bruned with rage in her beautiful almond-shaped eyes
She retained the hateful look as she watched them walk away with the escort of three ridiculously large, thick-muscled men watching their every move.
The party continued on without Eleanor's parents and beta as well as Arragon’s presence in the hall. It was time for the dance, and everyone picked their partners before gliding swiftly to the dance floor. Music then followed and filled the stagnant air with a familiar beat that sent the crowd cheering and whistling with the beat of the loud music. The females rocked and grinded their bodies against their partners while a loud, upbeat party song played as if to drive away the heavy tension that still wrapped the air after Eleanor technically made a revelation for all ten packs gathered tonight.
Now, we all know it's a common rule to not use violence against one another, especially if you're a high-ranking wolf against one small omega of your pack.
So, when Eleanor revealed how abusive Beta Mike has been acting in their pack, a wolf belonging to a higher rank in the hierarchy at that, Arragon has been too adamant to call for a meeting.
The discussion about unity among packs has been going around for a very long time. However, because there are still some alphas who refuse to kneel down to a chosen king, it is considerably hard to take the next steps to advance towards the goal of unity that will bring all packs at peace.
I sighed.
How long has this been going in that pack? Did that coward try to hurt Eleanor too? The thought made Loki stir within me and I gritted my teeth, suddenly I find myself glancing at Eleanor who sat quietly. From this angle, I could clearly see her entire body tremble as she reached for the glass of wine that had been left untouched since her parents left the table. Her aura dark and gloomy, making me feel certain this isn't the right time for an interrogation. The sound of laughter and yelling coming from the dance floor reached my ears once again. People were dancing around us, and we were one of the few people who refused to get on the dance floor.
I stood up, leaning my upper body towards her. My mate flinch back as soon as my scent filled her nose and she looked up at me before dropping her gaze to my palm. I looked at her softly, curving my lips into a smile.
"Care to dance?"
