Dominic's POV

Today I will finally leave for the big city. The castle is safe and my borders are secured. There have been no reports of moles and the Alphas seem to be lying low, I'm guessing that they are working on their next big plan and I know that it can't be good because they have a headstart. King Ashford has been planning this for a long time, he is way ahead of me and now that he has the rebellious Alphas by his side, it will only be a matter of time before he attacks. I need to make a move on ir before he attacks us, that element of surprise, that is the only way I could take him down.

I made sure that no one knows about my trip to the big city. I made it seem like a normal routine trip to my company. I know we have wiped out the moles from the castle, but I can't be too careful now, can I?

Its only Carl and Dwayne that know about the alliance I intend to form with the Mafia Lord. There is no other person in this pa k that knows about it, not even my generals. I did a last-minute check on traps around my boundaries before I was set to leave. I have to travel light so nobody can ever think that I have other agendas planned. Harriet offered to come with me, sh claims that she misses Bethany so much and that is why she is coming along with me, but I know better than to believe her lies. She simply wants to have a backup in case things go south with my meeting. I completely understand why she insists or coming, I mean, his reputation precedes him. Lorenzo is not someone that can be trusted fully, he is the Mafia Lord and he i avery dangerous man, do I need to be absolutely careful with him. Besides, I still don't know where he stands with us, I don't know if he would end up being a friend of ours or an enemy. We are werewolves, we don't have any history of working with humans because they tend to see us as threats and it never ends well. That is why she insists on tagging along, not to mention the fact that we still have Ciara to deal with in case she loses control once more.

“Tyler told me about the emails you have been ignoring for the past two months," Carl let out casually as he drove us to the airstrip. I turned to glare at Tyler, but he did his best to avoid my gaze, paying more attention to the iPad he is holding. I warned him not to say a word about this to anyone, but he just wouldn't listen. The thing is, I have been getting these email from someone that claims to be the Lycan prince Declan. I know Declan, I was still a friend of his father when he was born. Declan is the first child of King Ashford and his wife Diane. He is such a great kid and he was personally trained by his father Ashford. His father wanted him to be exactly like him, he was making him into a version of himself, training a perfect successor to continue in his evil ways. I saw how hard he trained him, I saw the kid take down a lot of Lycan warriors when h was only nineteen years old. The boy is as evil as his father, I am so sure of that. And that is why I have refused to respond t any of his emails.

I have no idea why he would be trying to trick me. For the past two months, I have been receiving these emails from him anc I totally think that it is a trick because it is so impossible to think that Declan would suddenly be on my side, I mean, how dumb does he think I am. His first email said that he has some information to share with me privately. He wanted to meet me in a secret location and discuss a way for us to be allies. I read that email and I laughed like a f*****g lunatic. He must really think that I am a complete i***t, I mean, why on earth would I want to meet up with Ashfords evil protégé. Ashford must be really desperate to get rid of me for him to stoop so low as to use his son to trick me. I have ignored his emails sinc then and I haven't opened any of them till date. But Tyler did, he has been checking up on this kid for some time now and h thinks he is legit, but I don't think so. I'l never trust an Ashford, not now, not ever.

“Come on man, leave the kid alone, he just wants you to check out this guy and see if he is legit. You just need to see the messages he is talking about, it would not hurt to check them out” Carl added with a smile when he looked at the rearview mirror and saw me glaring at Tyler in anger.

“I know the kid man, there is absolutely nothing to check out. He is as evil as his father, he could even be worse than his father because his father personally trained him and he made him into the worst version of himself. Itis a trick and I'll be a damn fool to fall for it" I responded smugly, trying to put an end to the conversation but they just wouldn't let it slide.

“You see, that is it the think, Dom. You think because you know this guy as a kid, you think he can never change, but that is not true. You know, anyone who knows that you used to hang out with Ashford would never believe that you could ever go against him." Tyler let out bluntly.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” I asked him angrily.

“'m sorry, my king, I really don't mean to get you upset, but that is the truth. This kid could have changed over the years, something made you change and turned against Ashford, something must have made this kid to have a change of heart just like you. I just need you to take a look at these emails and tell me that you don't think that this guy I on your side. For the past two months, he has been feeding you with information about his father's activities and if you had been paying attentio to his emails, you would have located his father already. I crosschecked the information on your email to the ones you got from Fabius and they were the same, almost the same, I mean. He sent you a warning that his father was planning to break the Alphas out of the Alphas lodge, he warned you about it two days before the Alphas got out. He even told you about the moles in your castle, I mean he sent you a complete list of the names of all the moles that work for his father, he sent you this list even before you got them from Fabius. I don't know why you are finding it hard to trust this kid, but if you ask me, I think he is just trying to help” He explained calmly, making me widen my eyes in shock. I grabbed the iPad from his hand and for the first time in two months, I read the many emails in my inbox and I realized that Tyler was saying the truth.

The information from this kid could have put an end to this war a long time ago. He warns me about his father's plans two days before it happens. If only I have paid a little attention to this kid, I would have caught all the moles a long time ago, I would have stopped the Alpha from escaping, and I would have saved Harriet's father. I turned to look at Harriet who has been sitting quietly by my side all this while, but she wasn't looking this way, her head was turned to the side and it would seem like she is looking at the trees, but that is not the case. I saw her face on the car's window and I saw the tears flowing down her cheeks. I guess it hurts her to think that her father would have been saved if only I had given this kid the benefits of the doubt. It hurt me as well, but I still don't believe that this guy is now on my side. I want to believe him, I really want tc but I just can't. He would never go against his father, he won't do it. It must be some kind of a ridiculous joke, he is just trying to mess with my head, but I certainly won't let him.

“I'm sorry Harriet, I know how it feels to know that we overlooked these leads that could have helped save your father, it hurts me as well but you need to also know that this could be a trap, we have to be careful about this guy because he is just as ruthless and fearless as his father. I watched him train under his father and I saw how quickly he learned to be merciless and heartless. We can't let him get into our heads, we need to tread carefully." I told her calmly.

“I know Dom, but it still hits anyways.” she responded calmly, making me sigh deeply as I pulled her into my arms, while Car continued whispering comforting words to her while driving. I wonder why I agreed for her to come with me when it is very obvious that she is still grieving for the death of her father.

“Change of plans, I'm going with Carl, Tyler, and Harriet. You will be in charge while we are away. Info me if anything goes wrong” I told him through our mind link. I think I would need them both in case something does go wrong. I kept checking through the emails until I got to the last one that he sent only three days ago. There is just something about it that caught my eyes, so I clicked on it and it opened,

“I know you still don't trust me, but that doesn't that I have to stop doing all I can to help you take down my father. I'm not going to stop, King Dominic, you can choose to help me or continue ignoring me as usual but that won't stop me. I have found your moles. My father has them locked away in a safe location and he has been torturing them for months. I just found out their location and I have moved them all to a safer location. I need you, Dom, just as I know that you need me. My father has something planned for this week, I'll inform you as soon as I find out the details."

He sounds so genuine but I just can't believe him. What made him change his mind, why is he going against his own father?
