Chapter 53

Aurora:

“You can leave today, but you are going to be going through weekly checkups
now. Normally, we tend to do them monthly, but until we are sure that both you
and your baby are stable in your situation, we are going to have to keep round
checkups.” The pack doctor said, and I nodded.

The fact that it has been two weeks since Dimitri brought me here annoyed me
more than anything. I did try to get up and leave, more than once even, but the
doctors never allowed me to go, and I didn’t even need to mention the beta.

It was Dimitri who seemed to only come in to check but wouldn't say a word as
he knew that we were going to end up arguing. And when he was quiet, he knew
that I didn’t have anything to argue with him about, and for that, I was forced to
stay quiet.

“Okay,” I said, and she smiled, handing me a bag of medications.

“I don't have to tell you that you are going to need these vitamins to ensure both
your and the baby’s strength. You also need to be sure to eat more healthy and
in more portions as your calorie count is a low lower than it is supposed to be.”
She said, and I nodded, crossing my arms over my chest. I took a deep breath,
not knowing how things were going to be when I left the infirmary, but I knew that
they were not going to be fun and games.

Dimitri was quiet because I was here in the infirmary, but I didn’t know whether or
not he would be as quiet when I left. And that was something that worried me,
especially when I confronted him with the fact that I knew that both he and
Charlotte planned on taking my baby.

That was something that I knew he didn’t accept, and though he didn’t say
anything about it since that night, I knew that it must have been playing in his
head.

I walked out of the infirmary and toward my room, ignoring the glances of the
maids that I got only to frown when I entered the room to find it completely empty.
It didn’t even have a bed inside it, and instead, there were boxes that needed —
opening.

“What?” I asked, frowning in confusion only for the bedroom door to open. My
heart raced, and I turned to face Mariana, shaking my head in question as I did.
“This has to be some kind of joke, right?”

“Lady Aurora, this is going to be your baby’s bedroom. The Alpha has requested
that everything that you had here to be moved to his room as the two of you will
be..."

“What?” I asked, stopping her. She looked own at her feet for a second, and I
shook my head, not wanting her to go on before walking out of the room. I didn’t
like the fact that I was rude to Mariana as I stopped her, but I knew that the man
was mad if he believed that I was going to be staying anywhere with him.

“What is the meaning of this?” I asked, entering his room. I knew that he already
expected my presence, and judging by the fact that he was standing with his
arms crossed over his chest; the man knew that I was already coming.

“You are my mate, in other words, my wife, and I doubt that a man and his wife
should be staying in separate rooms...”

“Please play another game or scenario on me, because I am not falling for the
fact that you are now suddenly kind to me when just two weeks ago, you asked
me to lose the baby if I wanted to because you wanted nothing more than to cut
ties with me.” I said, stopping him. I knew that stopping the Alpha was not the
wisest of actions, and the fact that I knew that the pack doctor didn't want me
hurting myself, neither physically or emotionally, I knew that I was going to have
to take a deep breath. Therefore, cut the cr ap because I am not going to fall for
it.”

“What makes you think that it is ¢ rap? I can actually want to stay with you. You
know, it is not like you have any other choice. I am surprised that you are making
a big deal when you are in such a situation.” He said, and I shook my head at
him. The man didn’t know the extent of the patience that I had, and the fact that
he crossed it, a long time ago, meant that I wanted nothing to do with him.

“I have my dignity, and I have my pride. Whether or not I like you or you have the
slightest bit of control on me, I have my dignity and I am not going to let you step
on it. As for me having no choice, the choice is mine to look you in the eye or spit
on your face as you seem to be forgetting that you lost my respect on the night
that you accused me of carrying a child that is not yours.” I said, reminding him of
the fact that not only hurt me, but made me regret agreeing to sleep with him
without a fuss. I knew that it was my duty, but I could have done something to
play the game. “I was a virgin, and in theory, I still am. But that didn’t matter to
you as in your eyes, I slept with another man...”

“ENOUGH!”

“Enough of YOUR own games. Enough of the hate that you threw on me, enough
of...” the Alpha’s growl stopped me, taking me off guard as he glared daggers at
me. My heart raced and I glared at the man for a second before he took a step
toward me, towering over my b*dy.

“When I say enough, I mean it, Aurora.” He whispered, keeping his eyes on mine.
I went to open my [*ps to say a word, but the Alpha shook his head before doing
the one thing that I didn’t expect him to do.
