All The Wrong Signs

Chapter Side Mission

Blaze’s POV

Day after day went by in a constant blur of fighting. I had thought Gregar would have yielded by now. He was losing followers by the thousands, but he still fought.

As much as I wanted him to call a stop to the fighting, I think I respected him more for fighting for what he wanted. The only problem I had with him was that I had Riley and her every growing baby bump to worry about.

It had been months since she first transported herself to me and there was no hiding her pregnancy now. Moving her between the human world and hell was getting harder and harder. I dreaded the day I would have to tell her she was too far along to transport.

I think she had accepted the fact that she would have to say goodbye to her human world. Even though I hated the idea, I had offered to let her stay in the human realm and I would pop in and out. Thankfully she had refused, telling me that wherever I lived she would too.

It was hard watching her talk to her sister every day. I knew she was preparing for the day she would no longer communicate with her. Lakyn would be the only human that she would be able to speak to.

Riley had hoped that since she had witches’ blood in her, that it meant her sister did as well. The one and only time I met her, I tried to pick up on any traces. It was there. Faint but present.

The only problem was Hollie didn’t have any desire or need to channel her powers. Riley had fought tooth and nail, pulling hers out of the darkness.

Petra split her time between campaigning for me and transporting Riley back and forth from the mortal world. She had graciously agreed to let us stay with her until I could kick Gregar out of my estate.

“You look impatient,” Soren said, pulling me out of my thoughts as he walked up to me as I stood outside of the council’s doors.

Glancing over at him, I shrugged. “Lost in thought, I guess.”

“Thinking about your raven haired human again?”

“Still fucking my sister?” I countered, shutting him up.

Soren was one of my best friends, but I still wasn’t sure I liked the idea of him hooking up with my sister. Riley told me I was being ridiculous because neither of them would make their relationship public without my blessing.

I would bless them.

I would bless their relationship when I was good and ready to, and today wasn’t it.

Hearing the double doors creak open, Soren and I stepped to the side. An older demon in robes, much like a monk, stepped outside, handing me a scroll. “Lucifer sends his best.”

I nodded, glad that they weren’t summoning me inside yet again to discuss strategy. Walking away from the doors, I leaned against the wall, opening the scroll to see what good old grandpa had to say.

“Did you tell him about Riley?”

I nodded. “I wanted to tell him before rumors reached him. The bastard can hold a grudge when he wants to.”

Soren snorted. “He can be rather crabby. Must be where you get your good temper from.”

I cut my eyes at Soren. “The south has fallen. He suspects Gregar will fall within the month.”

“About time,” Soren said, stretching. “I have to tell you, I’m over this shit. It’s been centuries since we’ve had a war. Hell, I’d rather get a gun and just go shoot him in the face.”

I laughed, rolling up the scroll and tucking it into my pocket. “You need to stay out of the human world.”

Soren shrugged, “no can do. I have a job, you know.”

“Ah, how many more souls do you have to collect before he releases you?”

Soren rolled his eyes. “I don’t want to talk about it. He is your grandfather. Can’t you put in a good word for me?”

“Maybe I’ll tell him you’re fucking my sister,” I said, enjoying watching Soren squirm.

In truth, Lucifer didn’t care what my sister did. She was of no blood to him, but if he thought I cared, he might pretend to have some interest. With my father dead, he sometimes liked to pretend to be a caring grandparent.

Last time we had spoken, I brought up the fact that as my grandfather, he could have rescued me, but apparently I was being taught a lesson.

Bullshit.

He wouldn’t have been able to free me, either. He would have just made Kyler’s life a living hell.

Speaking of Kyler, I needed to go check on the fool. The curse was doing its job. His right hand was all bone now, bone and some smelly goo like substance that made the whole damn cave smell like death.

Every single time I went to check on him, he cried, pleading with me to kill him. I wished Riley could see him suffer, but she had such a weak stomach these days the smell alone would send her hurling.

Taking a deep breath, I transported to Petra’s before I returned to the battlefield. Riley was in the library reading when I popped in front of her.

The baby had given Riley’s pale skin a blush of color. Her swollen belly was quickly becoming my favorite part about her. I was afraid that I liked her pregnant far too much. The soft swells of her curves. The way her breast seemed to stand out begging for me to touch them.

Setting down the book that she had been reading, Riley shook her head. “No sir. Not here.”

I smirked down at her. “How do you know what I’m thinking, little witch?”

“Your eyes have gone pitch black,” she said, crossing her arms over her swollen stomach.

Tilting my head to the side, I couldn’t help but smirk. She knew me well. I had popped home for a quick fuck before I went off to war. “You’re really going to send me out to battle like this?”

Riley eyed me up and down and, although she was trying her best to remain serious, she was failing. I could see the slight upturn to her lips and the sparkle in her eyes.

“Your mouth says no, but your eyes say yes,” I said, wiggling my eyebrows at her.

“Oh, my god you are annoying,” she said, shaking her head at me.

“God can’t help you here, sweetheart.”

Riley rolled her eyes as she stood up. “Don’t you have places to be? A war to win?”

“A witch to fuck,” I added before she had time to think of anything else.

Riley walked into my open arms, shaking her head. “Do you ever think of anything else?”

“No, why would I?” Looking down at her, I winked before reaching down and picking her up, pressing her up against the wall and wrapping her legs around my waist.

“Your sister,” Riley gasped. “She’s already told you…”

“She told me to make myself at home. I feel most at home when I’m between your thighs.”

Riley’s cheeks flushed. I never thought a pregnant human would turn me on as much as Riley had been able to. I don’t know if it was knowing she was pregnant with my child, or if I had just fallen that hard for her.

Even though Riley’s words told me to stop, the moans she was making as I kissed her neck betrayed her innermost feelings. If I pushed her, she wouldn’t stop me. Truth being, she wanted this as much as I did.

It had been a long couple of months since she had agreed to stay in hell with me. A fight no-one suspected to last long seemed to drag out longer and longer each day. I hoped Lucifer’s message was right and Gregar was on the verge of giving in or being defeated.

“Blaze,” Riley whispered, bringing my focus back down on her.

“What is it, baby?” I whispered in her ear, nipping at it.

I could feel the shiver of desire course through her body. My little witch wanted me.

Sliding my hand to the back of her neck, I looked down, using my other hand to pull her body flush agent mine so she could feel how much I desired her. Pressing a hard kiss to her lips, my tongue slipped inside, tangling with hers.

Riley had a drug like effect over me. It was a feeling I’d never felt with anyone else before. Demons didn’t mate, they didn’t feel bonds besides the ones they created. But Riley was a completely different creature all together.

If it was a spell, I never wanted to fucking come out of it.

As our tongue mingled, Riley ground herself against my erection. Pinning her against the library wall, I tried my best to hold her steady and not push her into the shelves. Kissing along her jaw and down her neck, I took pleasure in every hitch of her breath, knowing I caused them.

I was glad I had ditched my armor before I had gone to meet with the council. Holding her steady with one hand, I used my other to unbutton my jeans and wiggle the zipper free enough to release my cock.

The best thing about Riley being pregnant was she had started wearing dressed more than she did jeans. It took no time to pull her dress up around her hips, yank her panties to the side, and shove into her.

Petra was going to be livid with me.

I didn’t give a fuck.

Knowing I needed to be back out on the battlefield, I didn’t take my time with Riley like I would have preferred. I wasn’t gentle. Now wasn’t the time for gentle. By the sounds Riley was making as I fucked her hard into the shelves behind her, she didn’t care.

I wanted to get lost in the moment. Stay here, with my lips against her throat, and my dick buried inside of her, but I had other obligations. Obligations that once completed would free the rest of my life to please her.

Groaning, I bit down on Riley’s neck, probably bruising it as she came. Her soft whimpers as her body squeezed onto mine drove me crazy, sending me on a quest to find my own release. To fill her with my seed and remind her she was mine.

Not that she could ever forget. I’d never let her.

“BLAZE!”

Hearing my sister scream my name, I couldn’t help but laugh. Looking down at Riley, I winked at her. “I think it’s time for me to be going.”
