After the Breakup He Pursued Her Relentlessly by Fiola

Chapter 7.2

Chapter 7.2

I cleaned up the mess and walked out of the room with my luggage.

There was no looking back.

I declined my boss‘ s offer for a vacation and threw myself into a new project.

It wasn‘ t just about earning a substantial year–end bonus. I needed the distraction to keep my thoughts at bay.

For the next two weeks, Lucas didn‘ t contact me.

After much deliberation, I deleted his number—the one that had made me so happy for three days when I first got it. I even blocked him on social media.

But from Isabella‘ s posts, I occasionally caught glimpses of him.

They were childhood friends, perfectly suited for each other.

I had held him back for three years, and now they were back on the right path.

I moved closer to the company and started growing flowers again.

Despite my busy schedule, watching my bank account grow gave me a sense of satisfaction.

During this time, I unexpectedly became friends with a colleague who often stayed late like me. Usually, it was just the two of us in the vast office building.

I told him my plan, “I’ll work hard for a while, and when I make enough money, I’ll go back to my hometown and open a flower shop.”

The shop might be tiny, but at least I would be my own boss, no more grind.

My colleague laughed. “I’m saving up for a down payment, hoping to finally have a foothold in this big city.‘

We sat there sharing the chips and talked about our dreams.

I got off work late that day.

As usual, I was about to hitch a ride home with him.

But as we stepped out of the office, a tall figure blocked our way.

“Who are you?” my colleague asked, a bit taken aback by the man‘ s stern expression.

“I should be asking you that,” Lucas responded, looking gaunt and more intense than I

remembered.

We were supposed to have moved on. Why was Lucas here again?

I whispered to my colleague awkwardly, “My ex–boyfriend.”

My colleague understood quickly and stood in front of me. “Please move aside, I need to take Harper home,” he said firmly.

“Get out of the way.” Lucas’s voice was cold.

My colleague stood his ground,

W but from Lucas.
