Chapter After I 7
Chapter 7
The next morning, Nicolas quickly freshened up and went to work.
It had been three days since my death, and I was uncertain when he would find out. This morning. I suddenly felt ny spirit growing lighter. Perhaps it wouldn’t be long before I completely vanished from this world,
Upon arriving at the office. Nicolas headed straight for my office, likely hoping to find me there. But when he pushed open the door, he saw Jack and two women sorting through my belongings.
Nicolas’s face flushed with rage.
“What are you doing?”

Jack jumped at the sudden question.
“Mr. Wood, Ms. Knight’s family asked us to pack up her relics and send them back…”
As Jack’s words sank in. Nicolas froze, as if the air around him had solidified. He stared at Jack, his fists slowly clenching. “What… what did you say… relies?”
Fearing Jack hadn’t understood, he slammed his hand on my desk.
“I can understand if Eleanor is upset with me, but your can’t join her in making such a cruel joke to deceive me!”
Jack trembled, then seemed to realize something, looking at Nicolas with wide, sympathetic eyes.
“Mr. Wood, Ms. Knight passed away two days ago. Didn’t you know?”
Jack pulled out his phone and showed him the order for the wreaths he had ordered for me.
“On the day of the accident, we and the rescue team searched for a long time before finding her body. She had been carried far away by the current…”
Jack’s further explanations were drowned out as Nicolas staggered ont of the office, rushing to the elevator. le fumbled to dial my number on his phone, but only a cold, mechanical voice answered.
He stood there, stunned, and then collapsed to the floor.
It was the first time I had seen him so utterly lost and desolate, like a child who had lost his most cherished toy- confused, helpless, and finally breaking down in tears, hiding his face.

Yet, despite his anguish, I felt a strange emptiness inside.
Still, I had to thank him; before my soul completely dissipated. I finally saw my family once more.
