After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael)

Chapter 613 Playing With the Fire

Ethan had been observing the situation, initially assuming it was a glitch, but now it seemed otherwise. "Mr. Shawn, Ms. Nelson might be near a signal jammer," he reported.

Michael's brows furrowed, and he immediately got out of the car.

The resort was vast, spanning at least a thousand acres, making it impossible to pinpoint Chloe's location. Meanwhile, Chloe activated a location tracking system on her phone as soon as she detected the signal jammer.

She had developed this system herself, and currently, only she and a few members of her team were using it.

Its function was to transmit her location through an alternate channel when the signal was jammed.

At the hospital, Candy and Wesley had been waiting for the woman to contact them ever since they learned about her pregnancy. Finally, they received a message, but the woman had asked them to meet her at the hospital for a prenatal checkup. Just as Candy watched the woman enter the doctor's office, her phone beeped.

The sound was all too familiar, and she immediately picked it up to check.

It was from Chloe. She never used this method to send her location unless something was wrong.

Candy memorized the location, walked to the emergency exit, and found a number in her contacts.

"Michael, are you with Chloe?" she asked urgently.

Michael had just inquired at the resort's front desk if anyone had seen Chloe, but they all claimed ignorance.

He was frantically searching the resort like a headless chicken, sweating profusely from anxiety when he received Candy's call.

"Her location has disappeared!" Michael said, and his voice filled with worry.

Candy was sharp, too. She immediately sent the location Chloe gave her. "She's here. Go find her, I can't get away right now, but I'll be there as soon as I'm done!" Michael received the location and immediately ran towards it.

Meanwhile, in the room, Chloe knew that even if Candy saw the location, she wouldn't be able to get there within half an hour. She still didn't know who had locked her in here. But it was obviously nothing good.

The longer she stayed, the more danger she was in, so she was desperate to leave the room.

The balcony door was open, but it was too high up for her to jump.

The door was locked, and the landline didn't work.

Chloe was getting anxious. She looked around the room, trying to find something useful.

All she could see was a small box of matches that the resort provided in each room.

She narrowed her eyes and looked at the towels in the bathroom...

Five minutes later, the resort's security system went off. Chloe stood in the bathroom, blocking the door, and used a match to light a towel, placing it under the smoke detector. She was choking, but she had to keep burning it, reaching out to poke the smoke detector.

When the bathroom started to sprinkle water, she wrapped her hair in a dry bath towel and waited for someone to come in.

Michael saw a group of people rushing in one direction, and he looked at the location again. It was Chloe's.

His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly followed the group.

The staff arrived at the room, opened the door from the outside, and rushed in, thinking there was a fire somewhere.

But when they saw Chloe coming out of the bathroom soaking wet, their eyes were filled with astonishment.

"Ma'am, were you... playing with fire?"

Chloe didn't have time to explain, handing her towel over.

The next second, Michael rushed in from outside. Seeing her soaked to the skin, he caught his breath and pulled her tightly into his arms.

"I felt scared to death!"

Leaning against his chest, Chloe could clearly hear his heartbeat, faster than usual.

He was worried about her...
