Chapter Unveiled 136
Chapter 136
Evelyn glanced at Elara, showing no hesitation as she began to share the truth with her.
Evelyn spoke, "Actually, her husband never cheated. He was framed. When my brother first met them, the two of them were incredibly close. They had even grown up together..."
Evelyn paused, her expression thoughtful, and then continued, "Back then, he was not the type to take an interest in women, yet somehow, he became captivated by Yessenia. Slowly, step by step, he drove that man away from her side so he could have Yessenia to himself."
Evelyn's voice softened, almost as if she were lost in thought. "At first, she thought her marriage had failed, and that was why she had met someone who truly understood her. But soon, she realized..."
Evelyn's voice turned bitter as she concluded, "He was the one who had destroyed all her happiness. By the time she learned the truth, Yessenia had just given birth to Lysander. She was struggling with postpartum depression."
Evelyn continued, her expression serious. "Back then, a lot of people didn't even know what depression was. And with my brother being so busy every day, he didn't pay much attention to it either."
She paused a hint of regret in her voice. "When Yessenia wanted a divorce, he wouldn't agree. Later, she took him to court and hired Ziva to represent her."
Evelyn/shook her head, sadness in her eyes. "Ziva knew the chances of winning were slim, but she still wanted to give her friend some hope. None of us expected Yessenia would make such an extreme choice when things fell apart." Elara listened, shocked, staring at Evelyn in disbelief.
Seeing her reaction, Evelyn asked, "What's wrong? Are you a bit shaken after hearing all this?"
Elara took a breath and replied, "It's... not as bad as I expected."
Evelyn looked at her thoughtfully. "You know, in some ways, Lysander is a lot like his father. So if you're thinking about marrying him, I really hope you think it through. Don't go through with it only to regret it later. Because if you do, that regret may end up being harder to bear than anything else."
When Elara heard Evelyn's words, she smiled. "I'm good with him."
If she had not been reborn, thinking about all this might have made her afraid.
But she was not.
She had been reborn, and now she knew better than anyone what she truly wanted.
Evelyn nodded. "If that's how you feel, then that's enough."
Originally, Elara had been quite skeptical of Evelyn's abilities.
But after working with her for a while, she came to realize that Evelyn was actually quite impressive.
After working with Evelyn for a while, Elara realized that she actually had some serious skills.
By the year's end, Natalie and Curtis's divorce was finalized.
Harold went to negotiate the terms.
There was no lawsuit; they had a peaceful divorce.

All the wedding gifts and arrangements from before the marriage were settled.
The only thing left was the project that Curtis had helped Harold get involved with, and that was still ongoing.
Harold had spent many years in Starfield City and had quite a few connections.
At first, Curtis was resistant, but in the end, whatever Harold had said to him worked-he signed the divorce agreement without hesitation. Not long after their divorce, Curtis' mother passed away.
After the divorce, Natalie was in a good mood and treated everyone to a meal.
Elara and Crispin attended.
She had also planned to invite Lysander, but he was too busy.
In the winter, everyone gathered together for a fondue meal.
Natalie seemed to be in a good mood.
She raised her cup and said, "Thank you all so much for everything, especially you, Elara. Thank you for always being there for me."
Elara looked at Natalie and asked, "Curtis hasn't tried to contact you again, has he?"
"No," Natalie replied. "When we were going through the divorce procedures, he said a lot. He said he knew he was wrong, that he shouldn't have raised his hand. But when I saw him like that, I just couldn't feel anything..."
Elara recalled that in her previous life when Natalie died, she was still married to Curtis.
Now that Natalie had divorced Curtis, she hoped that nothing like before would happen.
Thinking of this, she felt a little more relaxed.
Previously, Natalie had never gotten a divorce, and Elara had all kinds of worries. She was afraid that something would happen to Natalie if she was not careful.
Everyone was eating happily when Elara's phone rang.
She answered the phone. "Hello."
Lysander said, "Are you done eating?"
"Almost," Elara replied. "Do you want to eat?"
"No, I'll wait for you in the car," Lysander said.
"Fine!" Elara replied.
After dinner, Elara came out of the restaurant. It was raining outside. She wore a black wool coat and wrapped herself up tightly.

Lysander had already gotten out of the car. He held a black umbrella in his hand, and white snow fell on it.
He was wearing a suit today, and his figure was slender, looking like a man who had just walked out of a movie.
Elara walked up to him, and the two of them took shelter under the umbrella. "Weren't you waiting in the car?" Elara asked.

"Get in the car." Lysander said as he opened the car door for her and handed the umbrella to the driver.
Elara sat in the car. The heater inside was a stark contrast to the cold outside.
Lysander got in and helped her take off her coat.
Elara looked at him. "It's been a while. I thought you wouldn't come back this year for Christmas."
"It's almost Christmas. I came back to be with you," Lysander replied.
Elara leaned into him, comfortable and casual. "It's crazy cold outside."
Lysander reached over and brushed the snowflakes out of her hair with his fingers.
On the way home, she told him that Natalie had finally gotten a divorce, and she seemed pretty happy about it.
She had always been so worried about Natalie before.
Lysander just looked at her without saying anything.
Elara turned her head, noticing him staring. "What are you looking at?" she asked with a smirk.
Lysander cupped her face and kissed her on the lips. "I missed you."
Every time he saw her, she always seemed carefree.
She was always busy with a million things to do every day.
It was like she never had time to think about him.
Elara looked at him and realized that even though he seemed cold, he was actually like a little kid sometimes-super clingy,
The two of them returned to Lysander's villa.
Just as they walked in, Elara's phone rang.
It was Felicity, Lysander's mother, calling.
Elara answered, "Mrs. Hawthorne."
Felicity asked, "Wyatt wanted me to ask if you'd like to come over on the 23rd and join us for a family gathering."
Christmas Eve was on the 24th, but since Wyatt had something to do in the evening, they had to bring the family gathering forward.
This was something that should have been asked to Lysander.
But Elara realized that asking him would only result in a refusal
So, they decided to target Elara instead.
Elara nodded. "I'll ask Lysander and get back to you."
"Alright, then I'll be waiting for your good news," Felicity said.
After hanging up, Elara told Lysander about the family gathering. "What do you think?"
Lysander was sitting on the sofa. Unlike Elara, who liked to lie down as soon as she got home, Lysander's sitting posture was always straight and formal when he was at home.

"Mm, it's up to you," he replied.
"I'm just afraid that you'll be unhappy." She did not even dare to agree directly.
Lysander looked at her and asked, "Why would I be unhappy?"
He stood up, walked over to her, and looked at her lounging lazily on the sofa.
Elara was wearing a tight, white turtleneck sweater, her face fair and bright.
He reached out, wrapping her in his arms. "From now on, you make the decisions for the family. After the holiday, let's get married."
Elara looked up at him and smiled.
Lysander asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"I'm just excited thinking about marrying you! Can't I smile?" She teased.
Hearing that, Lysander's throat bobbed slightly.
