Absolute Resonance

Chapter 1078: The First Match

Chapter 1078: The First Match

When all of the sage colleges completed their draws, a loud chime rang out on the huge, circular grandstand. Immediately, everyone witnessed the empty area in the center start to rumble and vibrate as countless giant, python-like tree trunks writhed on the ground, quickly taking the form of dozens of platforms.

The platforms were of different sizes, some being far wider than others. Those were clearly meant for the multiple college battles, while the smaller ones were meant for the single battles between two colleges.

"Since the lots have been drawn, let's get started," Vice Principal Wu Yu declared as he took a seat high above.

At the same time, mentors from the Heavenly Origin Ancient College rose into the air to act as judges and referees for each battle arena.

A loud and clear voice announced, "All teams, enter according to your drawn numbers. Those whose numbers are not up, wait for now!"

Li Luo glanced at the black lot in his hand, which did not light up, indicating that his number was not up for the time being. There was no hurry since he could observe the other teams' battles. His gaze was directed towards the largest platform at the center, which was beginning to become more lively as each team leapt down upon it.

Bursts of strong resonant power ceaselessly erupted.

The two-team and multi-team battles were very different. The former was simple and brutal; the weaker members would go up against each other while their team leaders would duke it out. On the other hand, the group matches were expansive and complex, with several teams trying to eliminate each other until only two teams were left, both of which were considered to have won.

While Li Luo was observing the matches, he did not realize that there were also some gazes locked onto him.

This group of young people were all wearing the uniforms of the Heavenly Origin Ancient College, and their auras were undoubtedly stronger and more resplendent than those of the other students from the sage colleges.

Zong Sha and Jiang Wanyu were among the group.

Obviously, these people were students of the Heavenly Origin Ancient College.

In front of the crowd, there was a long-haired young man who was playing with a bone flute in his hands. He stared at Li Luo with a smile on his face as he asked Jiang Wanyu, "Wanyu, is that Li Luo?"

Jiang Wanyu's willowy brows knitted together slightly as she replied in a faintly icy tone, "I'd prefer it if you called me 'Junior Sister Jiang,' Senior Mo Yun."

Senior Mo Yun was a well-known figure in the Four Star Hall, and he was a bit above Zong Sha in terms of both fame and strength.

Mo Yun smiled faintly, ignoring Jiang Wanyu's cold attitude, and said, "He's definitely good-looking, but I don't see his 'terrifying potential and unrivaled drive' at the moment."

He looked at Zong Sha, who was to the side, and laughed. "Zong Sha, you guys were overshadowed by him in the Spiritual Resonance Cave?"

Zong Sha frowned and replied, "Mo Yun, don't talk nonsense. We didn't have any conflict with Li Luo in the Spiritual Resonance Cave, and he brought us a lot of benefits. We have some good karma between us."

Mo Yun chuckled mockingly. "You're satisfied after eating some leftovers that other people threw away? contemporary romance

"If the college had sent me to lead the team in the Spiritual Resonance Cave, I'm afraid that the little bit of stuff that Li Luo handed out would not be enough to win me over."

Jiang Wanyu retorted spitefully, "It's also possible that you would have followed in the footsteps of Tian Miao and Zhao Yan."

Mo Yun's smile stiffened, but before he could speak, a woman's contentious voice voice rang out. "That's not necessarily true. If you had chosen to side with Zhao Yan and the others at that time, perhaps the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li's team would have been the one that was driven out instead."

Jiang Wanyu glanced at the person who had spoken. It was a young girl with a lovely countenance whose name was Lu Ying, and she was also the top student in the Three Star Hall. They had battled many times before in their normal daily routines.

"Lu Ying, it's best if you just stay inside the college with that brain of yours. The outside world is not suitable for you," Jiang Wanyu retorted indifferently.

"What did you say?!" Lu Ying flew into a rage.

Jiang Wanyu laughed coldly and said, "The True Devils in the Spiritual Resonance Cave were all killed by Li Luo, so why would we have followed Zhao Yan and the rest instead? Luckily, there was no space for your participation in the Spiritual Resonance Cave, or else we'd really have been screwed over by you."

Lu Ying's face turned pale green and she gritted her teeth. "Who knows if that would be true or not!"

She actually knew that it made sense, but she was just used to going against Jiang Wanyu. Whatever the other party was in favor of, she was naturally against.

On the side, Mo Yun waved his hand and laughed. "Li Luo's techniques are undeniable, but in the end, he had external help. He won't be able to utilize those external means in the academic evaluation, so it's uncertain if Li Luo will be able to put on an amazing performance. The Empyrean Chronicle has already hyped him up to such an excessive degree that if he turns out to be mediocre, he will naturally be ridiculed."

He didn't have any grudges against Li Luo, he just felt that the evaluation on the Empyrean Chronicle was a bit exaggerated.

Some of the students from the Heavenly Origin Ancient College around him agreed. Though they had not experienced the happenings in the Spiritual Resonance Cave and while Li Luo was still an excellent prospect, there was no way he could live up to the "terrifying potential and unrivaled drive" that the Empyrean Chronicle described.

Zong Sha and Jiang Wanyu did not argue too much, because they also understood that the comments made were just a target painted by Mu Yao.

Whether or not the target got hit would depend on Li Luo's ability.

......

"Battle platform number forty-seven! Single battle match!

"Sacred Eventide College versus Astral Sage College!"

When the loud and clear voice announced the next battle, an inexplicable commotion immediately stirred throughout the huge, ring-shaped grandstand as all the students from all the colleges turned towards one individual.

It seemed that the biggest attraction of the academic evaluation was finally going to step up.

"Although the Sacred Eventide College is not from the inner divine continent, its team leader is said to be at the seven-pearl tier, so you have to be careful," Mentor Chi Chan warned Li Luo.

“Seven-pearl, huh...”

Li Luo nodded as he grinned.

"Li Luo, go for it!" A clear shout suddenly rang from the distance, causing Li Luo to look up. It turned out to be from Lu Ming, who just happened to have finished her own battle, and it looked like her team had won.

He acknowledged her with a wave of his hand and then leapt out with no hesitation directly under every gaze in the arena.

The black lot in his hand turned into a ray of light at that moment, wrapping around his figure and transporting him onto a battle platform.

The platform was about ten thousand feet in width, far more expansive up close than when viewed from the stands.

Shortly after Li Luo entered the arena, four identical streams of light descended from the sky and landed on the other side of the platform.

It was the team from the Sacred Eventide College.

Li Luo quickly scanned the group, then he ignored three of them and just focused on the person at the very front.

It was a young man clad in silver armor. He was holding a large sword and there was an extremely strong resonant power fluctuating in bursts from his body.

He was the leader of the Sacred Eventide College's team, Wang Dao, the one Chi Chan had cautioned Li Luo about.

"Hehe, Leader, we're lucky to have bumped into the Astral Sage College in the first match. It's a freebie!"

A youth grinned joyfully behind Wang Dao. The other two students were also wearing jaunty smiles because according to the information they had received, Li Luo was only around the Three Heavenly Pearl Tier. Meanwhile, their team leader, Wang Dao, was a seven-pearl!

However, in contrast to his teammate's frivolity, Wang Dao frowned and said, "Don't be careless. Li Luo comes from the bloodline of a Heavenly Emperor and possesses triple resonances! He's no pushover!"

Hearing his admonishment, the three students only straightened up a bit and nodded. "Got it, Leader."

At this moment, an unknown number of gazes locked onto their platform. It was also at this time that a light shout of the officiating referee, and the energy barrier in the center of the battle platform dissipated.

Li Luo's first match was officially under way!
