Absolute Chaos

Chapter 28.

Wild jackals and dogs came from near and far, hearing their masters cries and his howls of pain and sweet death.

Am-heh raced through the dark grasslands, gazelle and bison leapt from their slumbers, the whites of their eyes swum with crazed horror, rolling straight to the back of their skulls, whilst flying into the blanket of night and dissolving below the horizon.

Slowing now, the putrid beast had reached the city’s gates, his large pack stopping abruptly behind him. The wild dogs tongue’s dangled from their jaws, panting hard from the long run. Each gross tongue salivating with the knowledge of the carnage yet to come, waiting for their masters next command.

Two guards were positioned beside the gates and another two above them in a ‘birds nest’ of sorts, watching over the swelling waters of the Nile’s delta.

They stood their ground and thrust their long swords towards Am-heh and his pack, he only laughed wickedly at the humans petty attempts to harm him and his kin.

Am-heh smashed the sword from one guards hands and tore greedily at his arm, his huge jaws easily slicing through the mans flesh, whilst his screams woke up all of Otamia.

A few of his pack had taken down the other guard and were now clawing at the city gates. Am-heh slammed his huge furry body against the sturdy gate, the hard wood splintering more with each harsh crack.

The old wood finally gave, crashing open, splintering the air in old timber and allowing Am-heh and his pack to spill into Otamia.

The people of Otamia clambered out from their homes, screaming in dread and madness. Hundreds of feral dogs and jackals swarmed throughout their huts and caves, tearing human flesh, breaking their bones.

Screams of crazed agony filled the air, they mixed with the harsh growls and snarls of the sheer madness that tore throughout Otamia’s streets.

People ran in chaotic loops, darting in and out of the shadows. Huts began to burn as the dogs tore between each dwelling, their fallen candles igniting the beds made of furs and reeds.

Small children lay torn in the streets, others cried in terror for their parents, some sat in the blood of their kin, cuddling their now lifeless forms, begging them to wake up from this harsh sleep of death.

Am-heh had made his way to the top of Otamia. He could feel Temu’s ‘Rib of Chaos’ calling to him, wanting him to embrace it, take back what he held so long ago.

It had been too many years of waiting, thousands of excruciating moons had past since he held the God Temu’s rib in his vile hands, he could not contain the desperation he now felt, rapidly he moved towards Araphel’s cave door and forced his fetid body inside.
