Abandoned (Born From Shadows #2)

Chapter Chapter Forty-Two

It wouldn’t shut up. The voice in his head told him that he should know the people in front of him. They kept calling him Kaycion…but was his name not Koltalla? Yes, it is Kol, that women said so. Yet why did Kaycion seem so…familiar?

It’s all a trick, it had to be. These people were the enemies, that’s what the woman said. He just wanted to go back to his cell, the four walls however constricting were where he was meant to be. Despite the pain he had endured, they showed him kindness, they showed him what it means to be healthy and cared for.

Then these strangers took that all away and brought him to this place. It all looked so strange. The floor beneath his feet crumbled and every few minutes some invisible force would push against him. There was a barren heat that blinded his eyes and crackled his pale skin.

It burned, it was all so blinding he just wanted to crawl back to the room. Why did he ever want to be rescued in the first place? He remembered pleading for a saviour once, but why when life in there was so much better than out here?

The two sat on the ground talking to each other about things that made no sense to him. This confusion was more frustrating than any blade that had ripped open his skin. They talked of nature and light in such a positive sense but from what he could see, both things were overrated. They both caused him more harm than good.

It was all wrong to him. So…off. What even was this? What was anything? The more he thought about it the more he wanted to scream. He kept hitting against this brick wall within his subconscious, hoping to break it. And in breaking it perhaps…everything would make sense?

Come on, Come on

I know you are there.

Your corruption is my salvation

So to you, I leave my heart bare.

Fall apart, break down

please just let me in.

Don’t throw away the key

let my life begin.

Hold up hold up,

don’t block me out.

Why build your wall so high

as if you think yourself divine,

Too empowered to care for my heart’s design.

As if you yourself is not myself.
