A Secret Alpha Mate

Cold rain lashes across my body, I felt small. It wasn't the rain that was making me shiver, or maybe it was, felt empty, frozen with fear. I was waiting for them to find me. I knew they would. There was blood, I smelled it and saw it on me. Was mine? I didn't dare look down, I knew what I would see. I couldn't face it, couldn't accept it.

Everything I knew was turned upside down in an instant. Everything taken away from me, I knew I would never be whole again.

“There you are.” I freeze in place, not attempting to move, too scared to do anything but look up into his eyes, “I've been looking for you” Alpha Benjamin says. Sudden voices, a flash of light, then darkness.

I couldn't breathe, I felt cold and wet.

“Ista?” A familiar voice pierces through the haze, “Baby, wake up.” Wake up? It was a dream. I was okay. I couldn't pull through the haze, couldn't wake up.

Someone gently shakes me, tingles on my skin. I focused on that, the tingles, and I managed to open my eyes and take a big breath of air.

I was awake but I still couldn't breathe, I was covered in cold sweat, that reminded me of the rain in my dream, my nightmare.

“J-J-jackson!” I croaked, curling into a ball trying to catch my breath.

“Isla, it's okay, I'm here." He rubs my back, “You're shivering"

He picks me up in his arms and carries me to the bathroom, placing me on the counter, he turns on the shower and pulls off my soaked clothes and his. He picks me up in his arms and carries me in the shower. Once I'm under the hot water I ci breathe a bit better, but I still can’t stop the pain in my chest.

He rocks me under the water, and kisses my head, “Try to take a deep breath, it will help calm you down.”

I do as he says and I finally manage to catch my breath, tears run down my face mixing with the water. I curl into him and let out silent sobs. Years of repressed memories and pain come rushing through me at once.

He holds me closer and doesn't say a word. I felt like I cried for an hour, and maybe I did.

He finally asks, “Can you tell me what it is?"

“Alpha Benjamin, he killed my parents.” I manage to say, my voice felt foreign and it hurt to get out.

jackson freezes under me.

“Are you sure?”

“I mean, no actually. It was the dream I've been having, It's been getting more and more clear and detailed. I've never bee able to remember it really waking up though." Jackson pulls me closer to him into his chest.

“I knew this was a possibility. If he was Alpha at the time that you were found and there was a rogue attack, it was possib that he, or his men killed your parents.”

it made sense, I never thought about who killed them, if they were attacking Silver Moon, then someone had to end it, Alpha Benjamin just never seemed like the type to put himself on the forefront of a fight, or get involved in any way that was physical.

I nod, “Okay, 1 just, I never thought about that”

“Don't worry, he won't be a problem after next week. You wont have to worry about him ever again.” His eyes turn black a his wolf comes forward, finality in his voice. A promise.

I settle into his chest.

That was reassuring but it doesn't change what he did. I felt that there was something I was missing, something I still couldn't access. It elt like my parents weren't supposed to die, it was so sudden, 1 just couldn't remember.

I check my phone nervously, I called Val last night and twice this morning with no response. Her phone seemed to be off. trusted her, I knew she would be back in time, but I couldn't help getting a bit frustrated.

She knew better than to ignore me, make me wait. She was supposed to be back today, I would go see her tonight.

Not communicating with me was completely irresponsible on her part, she knew how much this challenge meant to me, how my entire future was riding on it.

There's a knock at my door, startling me from my thoughts.

“Come in" call, Seth walks through the door and sits down across from me, “Is there something I can do for you?” I ask. “I was just wondering if you needed any help preparing for the challenge” 1 snort, what could he help me with?

“You don't need to worry about me, I have it all taken care of” He nods and looks away, “Was there something else?”

“I was just worried, I mean, what would happen if you lost?” He avoids eye contact.

“Don’t worry, I have it under control. I won't lose.” I say with finality in my voice.

“Okay. Let me know if 1 can help with anything” He seemed sincere.

“Thank you, Seth. Please try to keep your mother's emotions under control during the challenge. I don't even want her there but she insisted-" The door slams open, “Speak of the devil I mutter under my breath and Seth smiles.

“I saw that w*** today, Benjamin. I will not stand for it” She comes over and stands in front of my desk, “Oh hi, baby." sh turns to Seth, “Mind giving mommy a bit of privacy?” I look at Seth.

“As the future Alpha, I want him here, he can help decide these matters.” Julianna rolls her eyes and glares at me.

“This is not a pack related issue, Benjamin." She spits my name, “This is a mate issue."

“still, I would like Seth to be here, he's old enough and will find his mate soon, I'm sure of it. 1 sit back, folding my hands my lap.

“We are his parents.” She speaks every word slowly.

“Seth would you like to weigh in on this issue?” Julianna looks back to him. He looks between us not knowing what to say “The Luna, your mother, is threatened by our lead omega for some reason.” I state, Julianna turns back to me her blood boiling.

“That is not the case and you know it. I ordered her out and she’s still here."

“I do outrank you, my dear” I say, “And I can't go about finding a new lead omega in these circumstances, you know the pressure I'm under” I explain,

“Well, let me help you then. She is a sorry excuse for an omega anyways, wearing all those whoreish clothing around, attending parties. She believes herself to be above her rank” That was true, I had to admit.

“Maybe she could use being knocked down a peg or two.” I say out loud, “She's staying for the time being, but what woul you like me to do to her?” 1 ask, she was getting pretty pushy, hinting at her future as a Luna a few times, and I really needed to bring her back to her level, a low omega that was gifted her status because of her tight little p***y, nothing els Julianna grins, “Seth? What do you think we should do to this w***e?"

“Um, well, you could have her chained outside? I saw you do that before with few others. Taste of her own medicine.’ “What a brilliant idea, Seth” She turns to me, “I want it done in the daytime though, and I want the pole to be moved to t front of the packhouse, oh wait, or maybe in the middle of all the pack members houses” Her eyes light up.

“My dear, that pole is feet into the ground, let's just settle for where it is." I say, “Besides, you don't really believe a disgruntled old omega, do you? Isla was just saying that because she wanted to take me down during the trial and paint me as a bad man, as a bad Alpha. Isla saying I was sleeping with her, an omega, is just insane 1 look at her, but her face doesn't give anything away.

“She seemed to confirm it at the trial.”

“As you said, she’s getting too comfortable, thinking she’s above her rank. You can set up the punishment, I won't stop yo Julianna walks away, and gives Seth a kiss on his cheek.

“You're such a good boy, what a wonderful idea. You really will make a great Alpha.” She beams at him.

“Well, Seth” I say when she closes the door, “At least that will give your mother a distraction for the time being, she was being irrationally emotional and I really can't stand it” Seth laughs.
