isla is sitting across from my desk going through some papers of her own that my mom gave her, laying out the duties for the omegas. Her nose scrunches up every time she’s confused or really focusing and it's the cutest thing ever.

It's hard having her here distracting me from my own work, but I would take a longer day any time to have her with me instead of across the hall.

“Babe?” 1 look up and meet her eyes, “Your phone is ringing." She gigeles. s**t it was, I grabbed it from my desk and saw i was an unknown number.

“Hello, this is Jackson Black. I had to use my full name just in case it was someone calling from my company. We worked with a lot of humans there.

“Alpha, we need medical assistance. Immediately.”

“Where are you located?”

“I'll send you our location. Hold on”

Stop what you're doing, take the medical van and two nurses. I'll send you the location.

“Hello?” I speak back into the phone

“Yes, Alpha."

“Do you need me to come?”

“No, Alpha. The Gamma has it under control”

“Okay, tell him to keep me updated. They will be there in thirty from now.”

“Thank you, Alpha.” I hang up the phone.

Isla’s eyes are wide, “Is everything okay?”

“I'm not sure” I answer honestly, my mind is filled with everything that could have gone wrong, it seemed like Cam was okay and I knew he could handle anything, but how many were injured? How did it happen? I hope Alpha Benjamin's mer didn't find mine.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” She comes over to my side of the desk and places her hand on mine.

“I think we just have to wait and see, I know Cam will contact me when he's ready, I trust him completely.” She nods,

“Jim just left to attend to them, we will know what's going on soon enough.”

Sure enough, ten minutes later I get a call from Cam.

“Jackson. We have a witch in our custody.” That was something I wasn't expecting.

“When will you be back?”

“We're carrying her in wolf form, about twenty or so minutes?” He estimates,

“What do you need from me?”

“Tell the guards at the dungeon that they need to prepare a room for her and a guard 24/7. And she’s in need of medical attention. Once the doctor is done with our man, I want her looked at so she stays alive so that we can question her.”

“I'll do that before you get back.”

“I'll link you when we cross pack grounds, I need to shift now and bring her before she wakes up.”

I hang up.

“They caught a witch” I turn to Isla.

“A witch? Where?”

“Near Silver Moon I think, I don't have details yet. Just one of our men is down and they're bringing her back here”

“Is she alive?" She asks curiously,

“I think so, mostly. We have to send Jim down to look at her” her eyes go wide.

“What if he gets hurt? She could be dangerous, she already hurt someone.”

“Don’t worry, the cells are protected, you can't use any kind of magic or powers when you're down there. Jennifer can't ev link or shift. Even if she feels like she can she can't fully shift if she tried. Witches can't use powers, dragons can't breathe fire” she’s looking at me in shock.

“How many? I mean.”

“Not so many recently, it was something that my great-grandfather had done, so that no matter what prisoners we had their abilities are silenced down there, using light magic, of course” I look at her,

“My great-grandfather had a witch problem actually, one witch was terrorizing the pack. They tried to catch her for month and when they finally did, she escaped the dungeon within minutes. So he figured out a way to change that and the next time she was caught, well, let's just say, she never escaped.”

“Oh.”

“Yes!” I take her hands in mine, “So don't worry about Jim, I'll be down there too, but everything will be fine."

Her eyebrows furrow, “You're going too?”

“I have to, I want to make sure she's stabilized and then I want to ask her a few questions.” She slowly nods and I pull her to my lap.

“Don’t worry, I've done this a million times before.”

“Ruthless Alpha Jackson.” She murmurs and 1 laugh.

“Ym going to change and head out back to wait for them. Why don’t you see what Abigial is up to? You might want to fil h in” She nods.

“Why are you getting changed?”

“I don't want to get blood on these, these are new pants.” I laugh.

“Oh” She wrinkles her nose, “Ew”

“Come on baby, let's go." I took her small hand in mine and quickly get changed before walking her to the doctor's cottag so she could stay with Abigail.

“Are you sure you can't stay for a cup of coffee?” Abigial asks as I turn to leave.

“I would love to, but Cam just linked me, I have to meet up with him" I give Isla a quick kiss, “I'l be back as soon as I'm done, and then I'll take you up on that cup of coffee” I smile at Abigial and close the door behind me.

cam and a few of his men are coming through the back woods, Cam has a young woman on his back, looking pale, her arr covered in dried blood wrapped in some kind of cloth, I guess they tried to bandage her wound as much as they could. “The room is ready for her, and the doctor knows to come down when he’s done.” The others change back to human form and help lift her from Cam's back so he can shift back too.

“Quick, get her down there before she can wake up.’ Cam commands his men. We follow them to the back entrance leadir down to the dungeons. The guard opens up the door spotting Cam.

“The room is prepared, Gamma.” He says to him, “Alpha.” He greets me.

“Thank you, did you assign a guard?” Cam asks.

He nods, “Yes, Gamma. I have changed the rotation and let the guards know already. There is one man down there now, a we are taking eight-hour shifts.”

“Make it four, I don’t want anyone getting tired, that's when people get sloppy.”

“Yes Gamma."

He leads us down past Jennifer's cell, who is clinging to the bars looking manic. “jackson, Jackson?” She screams, “You loved me, how could you do this to me? Remember when we dated? We were in love.” She cries as we walk past her, I don remember ever saying I loved her.

I almost forgot we still had that rogue down here, I look and see him laying on the side of his cell, sleeping or dead mayb “Cam? What's the status of the rogue.”

He shrugs, “He's alive but doesn’t have any more information for us, I don’t want to let him go though because he was a danger to innocent wolfs” I nod understanding, he must be talking about Isla.

“Get rid of him"

“Yes, Alpha,” Cam says.

We follow him to the back of the cells, one that has extra reinforcements. We weren't taking any chances this close to the challenge, especially not with a witch caught by Silver Moon.

“I want you all to stay down here until I give you the word to leave, notify us immediately of any changes. Anything so mu as a finger twitch will not go unreported.”

“Yes, Gamma.” They say in unison.

“Jackson, I'm going to check on Todd, he was the one that was injured” Todd was young, a relatively new warrior that Cam said had great potential. I hope he made it.

“Cll fill you in if you want to walk with me.” I nod once and turn to our men.

“Thank you for your bravery today, it won't go unrewarded” I tell them.

“No need, Alpha, we're doing it for you and the pack.”

I nod to them.

cam tells me the story of the witches capture on the way to the medical wing,

“Wait a second” I stop him, “She asked for Alpha Benjamin?" Cam nodded,

“said that he would let her pass.”

“Hmm, I think she’s going to be very important to us when she wakes up, Well done, Cameron.”

“Yes, Alpha." He was always so formal when we were in fight mode.

We make it to the clinic in the time he tells to fill me in, I think this witch would be the key to something, if we could get her to talk, and that's never been a problem for us before.

“Is the doctor done?” 1 ask the nurse behind the desk.

“Uh, Alpha, yes he's taking a short break, 'm not sure when he's going back”

“Can you get him for a moment?”

“Yes, Alpha." She leaves and returns with Jim a few moments later. He looks tired, blood spotting his usually spotless uniform.

“Hello, Alpha, Gamma, would you like to come to my office?”

“Yes please, we only need a moment of your time.” He takes off his gloves and motions for us to follow him.

“How is he?” Cam says as soon as the door is closed behind us.

“He will make it, but honestly, he doesn't look good.” He rubs his eyes, “Its nothing like I've dealt with before, every time cure a wound it seems it reopens, we've stabilized him, and I think we've dealt with it. It's been easier to deal with in the past hour.” He sighs, looking tired.

“The witch is in our custody now, in the dungeons.” Cam nods.

“That makes sense then, her powers wont work there and they must be linked to his injuries.” Jim muses, “We should be able to get him back to normal soon enough.” A glint of hope returns to his tired eyes.

“I hope so, I don’t want to keep you from anything. We were just here to ask you if you might be able to attend to our prisoner when you were done with Todd?” 1 ask

He pauses for a moment, assessing us, “Yes, of course, what is the problem?”

“Deep gash, we tried to cover it but we want her to live for questioning.” Cam cuts in

“I see, when he is completely stable, I'l come down.” He stands up, “I'll link you when I'm done here, if my hypothesis is correct, the longer she’s down there the easier it is for us to treat your young warrior”

“Thank you, doctor” I say, leaving his office,

“Go take a shower and get some rest, I'll Let you know if anything changes.” I say to him, he looked tired but I knew he wouldn't give himself time off.

“Yes, Alpha.” He heads up the stairs and I take the elevator towards mine.
