A Millionaire, His Suit And Poor Me Chapter 4
Friday came far too early. I was lying on my bed, staring at the uninterested ceiling and trying to think of an excuse to get out of the interview. Jace walked into my room at 8am, smiling happily, with a plate of eggs and toast in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
“Good morning, sunshinet” He said cheerfully. I gave him a blank stare. “I brought you an energizing breakfast! I'l pick ou what you're going to wear today while you eat, then we have to hurry to work”
“Il can’t. I'm sick.” I tried.
Jace shifted his gaze from my cupboard to me and stared, hands on hips. Start eating, you little bitch. You're stressing me out. It's only an hour. One hour. You can do it"
“You don't understand.”
“No, I don't care. Now eat.”
“You're the worst." I groaned, sat up and picked up my plate. He winked at me, turning back to the cupboard. I ate the egg angrily and swallowed my coffee in one gulp. Jace tured around holding a red printed skirt and a black and white stripe shirt. 1 nodded, pleased with his choice, and he laid the clothes on the bed.
“Now take a shower” He ordered. I complied unwillingly, taking a quick shower, then drying my hair. I dressed quickly, the outfit suiting me even better than I'd imagined. Then it was on to make-up. I left my room 30 minutes later.
Jace was waiting impatiently at the door, dressed in his favorite suit, which he usually wears when he wants to make a go impression, and our usual second helping of coffee in paper cups. We walked briskly from our apartment to work. It was I a.m., which meant I still had two hours to get ready before Steve arrived.
I hurried to clean my desk and prepare my questions. By 10:45, I was nervously tapping my foot against the floor and adjusting my make-up, while my heart was racing. Jace came in and took my face in his hands, planting a kiss on both my cheeks.
“You'll be perfect. And I'll be there with you." He said in a calm tone. I simply nodded in response and as I played with my hands, I noticed my palms were starting to sweat. I adjusted my tail high one last time, when Alice burst into my office, th words I feared most came out of her mouth.
“Mr. Steve is here for his interview.”
“Let him in" 1 replied. I heard my own voice tremble. Jace took my hand and gave it a quick squeeze. The door opened, an Henris Steve walked in.
His curls brushed his forehead. He had the same cold expression as the first time we met. His perfectly pressed suit fit hi like a glove. It was a light blue, a shade I wouldn't normally recommend to anyone, but he wore it divinely, making him lo powerful and sexy.
Jace and I rushed over to greet him. I held out my hand. “Mr. Steve, thank you for being here,” I said immediately. He look down at my outstretched hand before meeting my gaze and shoved his hands into his pants pockets. I withdrew my arm with embarrassment. “Um, have a seat. This is my colleague Jace”
Jace looked mesmerized. “Mr. Steve, it's an honor to meet you. I've heard about your incredible work” He complimented. “Thank you," he replied vaguely, turning to me. “Start the interview now.”
“Oh, um. OK. All right," I stammered. He raised an eyebrow, settled back in his chair and stared at me. “So, you left college in your senior year, four months before graduation. Why did you make this decision? Do you think it benefited or penalizz you?"
“University wasn't enough. It helped.” He replied briefly.
“Um, how would that benefit you?"
“I started my business four months earlier than I would have had I graduated.” He said with a smirk.
“When did you know you wanted to start your own business?”
“I've always liked being in control," he said in a deep voice. I could hear the implication in his tone. I played nervously wit the tip of my tail.
“Doesn't everyone like that after all?” Jace interrupted in a teasing tone. I sent him a look of gratitude. “How do you keep the respect of your older colleagues? Isn't it hard to always be the youngest person in the room?”
Henris glanced at Jace, who didn’t bat an eye, before leaning his elbows against my desk. “I don't have “employees’ I have employees. I earn their respect. It's not hard to be the youngest person in the room when you're also the most powerful” I finally got my voice back. You seem very sure of yourself and your position. Aren't you afraid of losing everything, especially after you've won everything you've got at a s?
“Thank you” I replied just as softly. My trembling voice broke through my fear.
“I can hold it easily." He watched, tightening his grip and pulling slightly to make his point. Shocked by his actions, I too up abruptly, turning to face him. He smiled when he saw my expression.
“We need to finish the interview. And please keep your hands to yourself, Mr. Steve." I said. I lifted my head, trying to look more confident. Even in my four-inch heels, he was taller than me.
“Do we have to?" He said, slightly amused, taking a step toward me. I could smell his perfume. “And do I have to?"
“Yes, I'm sure you'll have other places to go. More important ones." I said nervously.
“I can cancel all the appointments whenever I want. People will be waiting for me.”
I clenched my teeth angrily and he took that as a green light to take another step forward and thus stand directly in front of me and place his hands on my waist. He slid one down my arm to my shoulder, leaving a trail of shivers.
He traced my collarbones with one hand, holding me still with the other, and looked intensely into my eyes the whole tir I couldn't move. He had total control over me and he knew it. His hand went to the back of my neck with a firm grip. Then the handle turned, making me breathe a sigh of relief. “Jace.” I sighed. Henris gritted his teeth.
“Just a minute, Jack.” He said aloud. The feeling of relief shattered as he brought his hand to the back of my head, more firmly than before, and moved closer. At the last second, he turned his head and placed a light kiss under my ear. My bod was pure electricity under his touch, everything he did made me tremble.
“Don't be afraid.” he whispered. Then I felt his teeth trace my earlobe before biting gently. Then he pressed his nose agair my neck, curls everywhere. They smelled like coconuts. An involuntary moan escaped my lips and he left me as quickly as he'd taken me.
I tried to steady myself on my feet as he opened the door, revealing an extremely impatient Jace rushing into the room, hastily giving Henris his coffee and coming toward me. I noticed the concern in his eyes. I sat back in my chair, motioning for him not to say anything.
Steve resumed his seat, one leg crossed over the other, looking at us coldly.
“I think the interview’s over” He announced. He got up and left quickly. I was in and out of my office in less than 20 minutes.
But in those 20 minutes, we got some questions answered and my dignity was gone, along with the cold coffee Henris Ste left untouched on my desk. Jace turned to me with big blue eyes, as if he'd seen a ghost.
“His suit..." He said stunned. “His suit was a Yves Saint Laurent.”
