Angela’s POV
The following afternoon I left the pack to see Zack. I’d left Brit in a serious condition. She was still on life support and there was no sign of her waking up soon or getting better. My mom had seen her daughter and she’d almost collapsed.
“Do you want me to come with you, madam?” Azalea asked as I waited by the gates to leave.
“No. I’ll be back as soon as possible. I just need to talk to him and find out the truth about what happened to my sister,”
“I don’t trust him.”
I shrugged. “Me too and that’s why I chose the location to meet him. It’s just ten minutes away from our boundary. I’m sure I’ll be back before you know it,”
He stared at me with worry etched on his face.
“What if you don’t come back as soon as possible?”
I scoffed. “I’m sure Zack is harmless. I’ll be back before you know it,”
He nodded. The car that was supposed to take me to the restaurant arrived and I entered. It was a black car with tinted windows. I walked in and waved Azalea goodbye. He didn’t wave back just kept on staring at me.
The car drove off and within twenty minutes, we were at the restaurant. I waited in the car to see Zack. I shot him a text telling him I was there and he said he was too. I watched him walk towards the window from inside. That was when I got out of the car and joined him. I acted according to how Azalea taught me. He’d told me they were safety measures.
“Angela,”
Zack waved at me. I walked towards him at his seat just beside the window and sat down with him. The restaurant was empty which was unusual to me. Maybe the location of the restaurant affected its popularity.
“What happened to Brittany, Zack?” I asked as soon as my ass hit the chair.
“Relax, Angela. Order something first,”
He signaled to the waitress.
“I’m not here to eat. I’m here to talk. You said you’ll tell me about what happened. Now, start talking,”
He stared at me. The waitress came to us and I asked her to leave.
“Rude,” she murmured before leaving.

“You need to relax, Angela. I’ll tell you but I want you to be in your right senses. You’ve come a long way,”
I shook my head. “Trust me, twenty minutes isn’t the definition of long way,”
I would travel across the ocean to save my sister. I would go miles just to seek an answer. A bastard cannot possibly drop my sister off at the gate battered and close to death and I’ll be expected to sit still in a place. It wasn’t possible.
“Will a cup of cold water do? I’m parched. I’m getting one for myself,”
“Fine,” I agreed.
He signaled to the waitress again for two cups of water. She brought them within a few seconds. I didn’t touch the water. I

only watched him drink his water. I wasn’t stupid enough to drink water that wasn’t opened in my presence.
“Brittam opened up to me about her relationship with a man. They weren’t mates but they were friends with benefits,” What man? What’s his name?” I asked hurriedly.
He shook his head. “She never told me his name. Even if she did, I wouldn’t tell you. I’m already breaching doctor–patient confidentiality by telling you this,”
“Then why am I here if you won’t even give me a stupid name? I cried.
“She called me two days ago and told me she found out this guy was something she never thought of. I didn’t even know she had left the pack with him until she mentioned it,”
“She left some weeks ago in a hurry and wouldn’t even disclose this man to us,”
“I think he took her for a fool and he played her,
“He didn’t just play her for a fool. He hurt her badly and left her in a comatose condition. She’s half dead, Zack”
He slid his hand over mine on the table and offered me a smile. I smiled back but I removed my hand from his. “You said she told you he was something she never thought of,” I asked.
“Yes,”
What was he?”
“A vampire,” I frowned.
Why the hell with Brittany get herself involved with a vampire? Why didn’t she call me or Mom for help when she found out? Something wasn’t adding up. Something was missing and I needed to find it.
“Can you give me his name?”
“I’m sorry, Angela. That’s all I can offer,”
Angrily, I grabbed my bag and got up from my seat. “fuck you, Zack. Fuck you and your stupid doctor–patient confidentiality
I walked out of the restaurant with angry tears running down my face. My trip down here had only made it worse. Nothing was resolved and more, I couldn’t even find the bastard who did that to my sister.
I opened the car door and got in without taking notice of my surroundings. As soon as I sat, my eyes went wide as I took in two masked figures in the car. One was sitting beside the driver while another was right beside me. My driver was already unconscious.
First off, I tried unlocking the door but it didn’t budge. My second resort was screaming but before I could scream, the masked man beside me attacked me with a cloth pressed against my mouth. I thought he was trying to muffle my scream but as soon as I felt my energy seeping out of my body, I realized I was being drugged.
The last face I saw was that of Zack staring at me through the car’s window.
When I finally opened my eyes again, I was in a dark room. I tried looking around but I couldn’t see anything because of the darkness. My hands were tied together but not my legs. I was fighting to free myself when the lights in the room suddenly
came up.
I realized I was in a basement, an empty basement. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I looked up to see a strange man. He was six foot tall, almost standing at the same height as Darius. His eyes were cold and distant and he had a tattoo on
