Chapter 113
Chapter 113
Angela’s POV
I watched as Darius and Grace hugged each other for a few seconds before they separated. I could feel a pang of jealousy surge through my chest. She had a huge smile on her face and she looked as though she was very happy to see Darius.
“It’s been a while, Alpha Darius,”
Darius nodded. “It’s good to see you, Velicia,”
Darius returned to my side and hugged me, folding his hand against my back. I untangled myself from me once Mason and Velicia walked away to one of the rooms.
“Who’s that?” I asked Darius.
He smiled. “It’s a long story but I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow,”
I shook my head. I was done waiting for tomorrow to get some logical explanation from these three people. They were forming a kind of stupid bond that was occupying my head. Mason had an explanation to do, and so did Grace or maybe Velicia and now Darius too.
“No, I’m not going to accept that. I’m sorry if I’m sounding unreasonable but I won’t take that. The lady I know as Grace just walked into this house and you called her Velicia. What am I supposed to believe? From the look of things, you guys are closer than she’d let on,”
I stopped talking all of a sudden because I suddenly got a better idea.
“You know what? I should be asking her this, not you,”
He pulled me back before I could walk away.
“She’s my ex–wife. Velicia is my ex–wife. I don’t know why she told you her name was Grace,”
I raised an eyebrow as I suddenly became mute. I didn’t hear the last words he said either. The only thing that was ringing in my head was the fact that he said she was his ex–wife.
“Your ex–wife is supposed to be dead according to what I heard and according to what you told me. How’s she still alive?”
He held my face. “It’s a long story, Angela. Can you allow me to explain tomorrow?”
I was so angry I could feel my palm shaking. Darius lied to me about his ex–wife being dead. He even got mad at me at some point for talking down on her. What the f**k? What the actual f**k?
Forcing a smile at him, I acted as if everything was fine.
“Sure. It’s no big deal,”

Chapter Hla
I reinoved his hand from my face and walked up the stairs to see my baby. Their denial and lies had managed to ruin my night. I was so excited to be back home but I ended up becoming like a deflated balloon.
I managed a smile on my face and opened the door to Reina’s room. She was standing in her closet, her back turned to me,
“Daddy, why did it take so long to bring the towel?”
“Hey babes,”
She turned immediately, almost breaking her neck in the
“Mama,”
process.
Reina gan and threw herself onto me. I gathered her in my arms and she hugged me tightly with those tiny arms.
“I miss you, babes,”
“I miss you too, mama. How are you?” She asked me.
I finally became appreciative of the fact that we stopped on the way to change my outfit.
“I’m perfect, baby,” I rubbed my nose against hers and she giggled. It wasn’t until then that I realized she was crying.
“Why are you crying baby?”
“Cos I missed you so so much,”
“Awwn, I missed you so so much too my precious,”
placed her down and helped her put on her nightdress, it was her new favorite, the one with the face of a dragon. I tucked her into bed since it was so late already,
“Tomorrow, you’ll have to tell me how your day went, alright? Now, I have to go see my mom and Brittany,”
She nodded with a smile. “I’m sorry about Aunt Brit, mama. She’s not coming back, is she?”
It was as though something lethal exploded in my brain and seeped into my heart. My breathing ceased for a second or two and I had to take a deep breath to stable myself. My fingers trembled and my vision became blurry.
“It’s okay, Reina. I’m sure she’s good,” I managed to say, I didn’t know where the strength came from but I gathered it.
“Okay, mama,”
I kissed her forehead. “Sleep tight, babes,”

Chapter 113
“You too mama,”
She murmured as she closed her eyes.
Hurriedly, I walked out of her room. I was going to my mom’s. Ineeded to hear from her that something terrible had happened to Brittany for me to believe it.
Darius was waiting for me outside Reina’s room.
“Baby,” he called out, trying to hold me but I dodged his touch and raised my hand, pointing a finger at him.
I asked him not to say a word. It was for both of our sakes.
Within a few minutes, I arrived at my mom’s front porch. Maybe I ran, maybe I jumped or maybe I flew, I couldn’t say, all that I knew was a trip of fifteen minutes on a regular day took just five
minutes.
I opened the door and saw a little crowd in the house. Once they saw it was me, they gave me a sad smile.
What the fuck?
“Where’s my mom?” I asked. Someone pointed to her room.
She was lying down on the bed. She had one of Dad’s clothes and one of Brittany’s.
I laid beside her. She opened her eyes to stare at me.
She gently placed her hand on my face.
“What took you so long, Angela?” She asked me.
I shook my head. “I’m sorry mom. I couldn’t save her, I’m sorry,”
She smiled as tears dropped down her face. “In life, it’s not everybody you can save except yourself,”
“I’m sorry,”
I kept on saying it as I cried bitterly.
“Who did this to my baby?” She asked.
How could I tell her it was Zack? The monster who was her therapist killed her child. How could I look her in the eye and say that? Won’t the guilt kill her? She introduced them the same way she introduced me to him. Won’t she blame herself for Brit’s death?
“I don’t know, Mama,”
“I won’t rest until I find him, Angela. He would die so horribly even the vultures would rather starve

to death than feed on him,”
I hugged her tightly. We’ll definitely pay Zack back in his coin but tonight, we grieve.
