A Life Debt Repaid novel (John and Cordy)

Chapter 1486

Chapter 1486

Both Lindsay and Marvin were staring at Sam, eager to find out what he told Ryan.

After all, Ryan was clearly agitated at first but calmed down considerably, as if Sam had got through to him.

So how did Sam do it?!

"Don't worry," Sam said evenly, his mood unreadable. "He'll properly accept treatment and promise no more outbursts."

"What did you tell him? Why would he listen to you?" Lindsay asked.

She was certainly concerned-Sam had always been insignificant in their family, and Ryan had no reason to listen to Sam when he did not even listen to his own parents.

Only Quinn could only soothe Ryan these days...

Sam pursed his lips in turn.

Though he did not actually want to say it, he could also see that his mother was looking at him skeptically. Knowing that she would think that he was lying if he did not say it, he said slowly and clearly, "I told him that he could have Quinn."

Both Marvin and Lindsay were stunned.

What?! Sam was handing off Quinn to Ryan just like that?!

"Marriage isn't a game, Sam!" Lindsay snapped in agitation right then. "How could you promise Ryan that?! Have you asked Quinn, or were you lying to him just to give him false hope?! Do you think Ryan can take it when he finds out?! You never think about the consequences-"

"Enough!" Marvin barked furiously, having had enough of Lindsay's accusations toward Sam. "Why can't you trust Sam?! You're the one who said we owe him-sure, I didn't take that to heart, but now, I realize how much we do owe him! Why do you keep thinking the worst of him?!"

"I-I just..." Lindsay was absolutely frustrated that Marvin would snap at her like that, but she had no comeback either.

For some reason, she was used to siding with Ryan whenever he was at odds with Sam.

One might even call it an instinct-she never thought herself at fault for it either!

While Marvin did not keep arguing with Lindsay, his tone was serious even as he turned to Sam. "That aside, your mom's right, Sam. Marriage isn't a game, and you can't decide for Quinn just like that-you should ask for her opinion..."

"She likes him in the first place," Sam chuckled self-deprecatingly. "She just took issue with Ryan leaving her at the altar without a word. Now that he's bedridden and one leg short, she's not going to hold on to that grudge, and

she'll return to his side."

"What about you?" Marvin asked worriedly.

"Me?" Sam shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm used to it. I won't even miss Quinn with all the women I have-if anything, I'm

just a compromise. Also, she just happened around while I'm settling down these days, and I was just too lazy to get to know other more suitable women. I can do that without her, since she's not the only woman in my life, while she is in Ryan's. Handing her off to him is nothing to me at all."

However, Marvin could sense that Sam did not have such shallow feelings for Quinn-he simply did not want them to worry or to burden them.

Marvin certainly did not want Sam to sacrifice himself like this, even if getting Ryan better was their priority now. Sam's life should not be the price to pay for his health!

However, before Marvin could reason with Sam, Lindsay suddenly exclaimed, "Quinn?!"
