Chapter Five
“You could have killed him!” I said accusingly, pointing to the mangled mess on the floor. I knew werewolves had strict rules about not being discovered which meant rules like “don’t rip humans apart so the CIA can find evidence of it” had very severe punishments.
“So?” Xyen replied, stepping closer. Instinctively I took a step back, but he gripped my chin, holding me close to his face. His eyes nothing but poles of darkness. “Scared of me now, Lizzy?”
I’d just opened my mouth to answer, when I changed my mind. I wasn’t scared; I was angry! He could have exposed werewolves with his recklessness! Then I remembered that I not only tried the same shit yesterday – by getting Alpha Xyen to kill me – I also didn’t care!
I wouldn’t let myself care!
“Are you bipolar or just plain crazy?” I asked after a deep breath, looking straight into his murderous eyes, that quickly changed color from black to their natural deep, blue color.
“That’s for me to know,” he smirked. “And you to find out.” A wide grin spread across his lips, but didn’t quite reach his eyes. They were nothing but an empty pool, void of all and any emotion. Making him look like the psycho he was pretending to be.
Oh well! At least I’d be dead before I knew what hit me…
“Great,” I huffed, clicking my tongue. “I asked for some money and the universe gives me the loaded psycho in town.” I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes at him. “Must be my lucky star.”
A low chuckle made me look at him again. This time he was smiling for real, making his eyes look light up like sapphires in the dark room.
“I knew there was a reason I liked you,” he said, before letting go of my chin. He then opened the door into the main lounge and gestured for me to go out first.
And now he was acting like a gentleman?!
“Really?” I asked, kicking myself off the wall, but instead of following him, I went back into the room. “Usually Alpha’s don’t like to be insulted.” I double checked Sven for a pulse – he had one! – before picking out his phone and dialed 911 and put it on him.
“If I am, I’ll be sure to tell you right away,” he said, as I walked back up to him. “Or not. I’ll probably just kill you.”
I nodded understandingly. I don’t think he was joking when he said that, but--- I didn’t care!
Xyen smirked satisfied, before he grabbed my hand and led me out of the club. Ruby eyed me nervously, but I quickly mouthed a ‘it’s ok’ and gestured the room I just came out of. She nodded, understanding what I was trying to tell her, while Xyen continued to drag me out of the club.
The cold hit me like a slap in the face. It wasn’t winter or anything yet, but my assembly left most of my body exposed. Yeah, for being a stripper! A shiver crept down my spine and I cursed under my breath. The minimal amount of cloths I was wearing on a job from now on, would be at least 7! I rubbed my arms, while we walked around the building to the parking lot.
Xyen picked up a set of car keys to a rental and I hurried around the car and got in. I didn’t waste any time in cranking up the heater. Xyen just grinned before plotting in our destination on the GPS. I eyed the machine, and realized, that we were heading for an airport.
“I need to get my things,” I frowned and looked at the man driving. It was just a motel, so if I didn’t pay, my room would be cleared out. And although I didn’t own much, it was still mine! Call me possessive/borderline-hoarder, but I did NOT part with my belongings easily!
“I’ve already sent my men to get them,” Xyen replied casually. My eyes went wide.
“And had I said no?” I asked, not even letting the horror of what they would find get to me.
“Then I would have drugged you and carried you off,” he replied with a shrug. And to prove his point, he threw away a large syringe containing a transparent liquid.
“You do realize that is called kidnapping, right?” I frowned, eyeing the big guy behind the wheel.
“Have you ever met an alpha who cared about how he got his way?” he smirked, glancing my way. I opened my mouth to reply, but shut it again.
Hmm, good point!
When I stayed silenced, he chuckled, understand my quiet gesture.
“Didn’t think so,” he replied, before giving me one over. I tried not to let it get to me. One thing was letting men scrutinize me while at work, but now--- It made me once again self-conscious. No matter the amount of make-up, I bet he saw every scar, streak and fat-fold my skimpy outfit didn’t hide. I wasn’t a she-wolf, so I didn’t naturally look fit because of a high metabolism or hours and hours of letting my wolf roam freely. An uncomfortable shiver crept down my spine, making my hairs stand on end. I tried not to let it get to me, but deep down I knew he probably felt as disgusted by me as I did with myself…
I jumped slightly, when he suddenly threw me his jacket.
“Put that on,” he commanded, before turning the air-condition on. “It’s like a sauna in here.”
I took the jacket and quickly put it on. Wondering, did he think I was cold? Well, my hairs were standing on end, but…
No! I shook the feeling off. He didn’t care. Werewolves had natural high body temperature and I had cranked up the heater to its max. He didn’t care. He was just hot himself…
We arrived at the airport and my heart dropped. There was a private jet waiting for us! Xyen just grinned satisfied, when he noticed my reaction, but didn’t drop the gentleman act. He opened the door and---
I screeched when he swiped me off the ground and into his arms. Automatically my arms flung around his neck, feeling his toned and hard body so close to my own.
“What are you doing!?” I asked, my face flushed red as a tomato.
“Taking care of what’s mine,” he replied casually; a wry smile on his lips, making him look even more deadly attractive than he already did.
“If you drop me, I’m adding 50 grands to the total, Mr. Alpha!” I warned him, gripping him tightly. I’d never been carried around like this. I knew it was natural for wolves to do this to their mates, but even when dating Kevin, he’d never once picked me up like this. It felt amazing and humiliating at the same time and I had to fight the urge, to nuzzle my face under his chin.
He laughed wholeheartedly. My heart skipped a beat, when his smile finally reached his eyes. Goddess, he was gorgeous! Sure, the dark and gloom also worked for his ‘mystery-bad-boy’ image, but nothing compared to this! He looked young and carefree.
Happy!
There were three other people on the plane.
“My Third, Jackson,” he quickly introduced us, before he put me down. “And those are my bodyguards/ cleaners, Otis and Yamir.”
“Slash cleaners?” I questioned after the short introduction and turned to Xyen. “You have germaphobia?”
God! Should I tell him what happens back-stage in a strip club? Poor soul! He’ll never recover!
“No,” he replied, leading me to my seat; his hand resting on the small of my back. “I have a tendency to make a mess wherever I go.”
Oh! Now I got it!
“You rearrange people’s faces and they clean your shit up,” I replied and took a seat across of Xyen. “Got it!”
“I knew you were smart,” Xyen smirked, while the rest of the pack took their seats. I tried to take a deep breath to calm myself, but the second the plane started to move, a small gasp slipped my lips. Shit! I’d never been on an airplane before. My heart was beating erratically in my chest and my hands were getting clammy.
“First time flying?” Xyen asked, eyeing me above the paperwork he’d picked up.
“That obvious?” I grinned nervously, trying to joke it off. “Too much to ask, if you could gently knock me out?”
He glanced me up and down, before putting away the papers and leaned forward.
“Come here!” he commanded and with that he sat me in his lap, so I was saddling him. I gasped, feeling every inch of him under me. And damn, was he hard on all the right places! “You can get nice and comfy right here.” His arms snuck around me, pushing me further into him.
“Isn’t this breaking some rules?” I asked, trying to wet my trying mouth and push some distance between us, so I at least could see his eyes, while we were talking.
“Don’t worry,” he casually replied, drawing small calming circles on my lower back. “If we crash, I’ll kill you and make it pain free.”
Mentally I rolled my eyes at him. And we were back to making death-threats! As if dying horrible in a plane crash wasn’t bad enough…
“How chivalrous of you,” I replied in my sarcastic, sweet voice, before dropping the act and looked him dead in the eyes. “But seriously, stop with the death-threats already! You’re over-killing it!”
For a split second he looked surprised. Then, a wide grin spread across his features and his laughter bellowed across the tiny plain, making the others eye us curiously.
“God, you make me so horny, I want to fuck you right now!” he suddenly exclaimed. I looked into his eyes and a small shiver of pleasure crept down my spine, when I met his black lusted ones.
“In fact, I think I will!”
