A Gold Alpha For A Silver Alpha

Moon-Colored Eyes Chapter 1

My b**t hit the floor and a groan of pain came from between my lips.

“Focus on your opponent Juliet, that attack was too obvious!

The cries of “support” from my mother Logan's Beta don’t make me feel any better.

In annoyance I stand up and return to a defensive posture. My brother Jace stands in front of me. No shirt, no shoes or socks, just wearing sweatpants. Making all the bitches in the pack are watching our encounter drooling over his well worked out body.

Ugh, gross.

I couldn't complain though, because even though the males in the pack weren't as brazen as the females. There was also the occasional guy who would stare at me a little too much because of my tight shorts and the sports bra that was the on thing covering me.

Both my body and my brother's were bathed in sweat due to the long hours we have spent training under the overpowering sunlight. My chest rises and falls as I try to control my breathing and hide the fact that my muscles are hea as if they were made of lead. I just want to get this over with and get something to eat.

Getting ahead of my brother, this time I'm the one who approaches him and I apply a leg lock, which now makes him fall the ground. Point for me, Jace manages to grab one of my legs as he falls and takes me down with him. Point for my brother.

We both fall on our backs and lose our breath.

Stop! This is just an exercise, but if it were a real fight Jace would have won. Juliet, can you tell me why you lost?

I hate it when I get lectured on morality when I just got my a*s kicked.

Jace kept an offensive posture the whole time, didn't lose ground and landed his blows in vital places. I, on the other hand, was distracted and couldn't avoid him in time on several occasions.

I say with an irritated voice and a cracked voice. F**k, my whole body hurt. Couldn't we leave the lessons for later when I wasn't lying on the grass? Apparently not.

-Exactly, although you also knocked your brother down on several occasions and hit him on others. Your techniques were not as effective as his. Your biggest mistake was your own strategy and the failure of your skills to carry it out. Every fight unique because we can never predict what the other person will do. That is why we must always pay attention to the signals they give us. Think about that until the next training. We're done for the day, you can rest.

Jace and I let out a sigh of relief. Logan gave us an amused look.

-Are you sure you're children of my Alpha Rae, that woman is almost a millennium old and has more energy and strength than both of you combined.

I'm going to tell mom that you're spouting her age to the four winds, 'm sure she'll have a good laugh.

The Beta pales at Jace’s comment and walks away from us mumbling something about how the puppies nowadays don't know what respect is.

My twin and I laugh until our stomachs hurt. No one was spared my mother's beatings, not even my dad. So everyone wa: little afraid of her and had a lot of respect for her. She was my role model.

Jace is the first one to stand up and offer me a hand to help me, I accept his help. I don't think I'm capable of carrying my heavy b**t right now.

Well sis, looks to me like we've earned ourselves a nice big piece of meat and a glass of ice water.

say it for yourself brother, 'm dying for a plate of fresh, sweet fruit with juice on the side.

My mouth waters at the thought. Jace rolls his eyes and pulls me into a hug around my shoulders. We both start walking i the direction of the mansion.

“Whatever, but I don't think I'll be able to wait for anyone for dinner, as soon as I set foot in the house I'll ask Mrs. Bridge to give me something to sink my fang into.

Her eyes have a dreamy spark in them and the rumbling of her stomach can be heard as far away as China.

-1 don't think Jackson will like it if you don't wait for him and finish everything like last time.

I tell him amused by his attitude.

As we walk people wave and smile at us. We return the greetings, and Jace gives a warning look to all the wolves who see me with a more insinuating smile.

My brothers were territorially jealous of the worst kind, but that's how I loved them.

-Bah, that weakling is afraid of me, he doesn't dare to fight me because he knows I'd beat him like that," he snaps his fingers, we're almost to the door and I swallow a laugh when I see Jackson and Julian approach us, Jace doesn't see them because he's still too busy talking, “I'm telling you Juliet, just because Jackson is my brother and I love him I haven't challenged him for the Alpha position, but if 1 did it's obvious that I would be the winner-.

Jackson's face of disbelief makes me finally laugh, my twin sees me offended even without noticing our brothers.

“Why are you laughing, I'm serious, everyone knows I'm the strongest of the four of us and the best looking.

He says with false arrogance. Jackson and Julian share a glance and move closer.

-Did you hear that Julian? Jackson says and Jace jumps in place, turning to look at our older brothers with a look of innocence on his face.

That sounds like a challenge in every word Jackson, I think our little brother intends to compete with you.

They both nod.

Yes, it seemed the same to me, what do you think Juliet? Shall we teach the puppy of the house some manners or what? jackson and Julian look at me mockingly while Jace looks at me pleadingly. I give the three of them a bored look even though I'm laughing my a*s off inside. I give my twin a sidelong glance and remove his arm from my shoulders.

“This is none of my business.

I shrug my shoulders and walk to the entrance of the house. Behind me I can hear my brothers bickering amongst themselves and a sidelong glance makes me appreciate my twin on the floor with Jackson sitting on his chest and julian holding his arms.

A smirk stretches my lips and I walk quietly into the dining room. Mom is already sitting at one of the headboards and looks at one of the walls with a serious expression.

-Hi, Mom.

I greet her cheerfully, but she doesn't seem to hear me because she is still serious.

-Mom?

I say with doubt, this woman seems to be made of stone.

Mom! She shakes her head a little and when she sees me, her expression changes radically. She gives me a warm smile and her eyes sparkle. But no one is fooling me, she and dad have been acting really weird this week. More specifically sin the day where Jackson and I argued in Dad's office.

-Hi Juliet, where are your brothers?

Before I can answer the three rowdies come in shoving each other while cracking jokes. All three wave to mom before sitting in their seats. Jace sits next to me and Jackson and Julian on the other side of the table.

As soon as they settle into their seats, out of the kitchen comes Mrs. Bridget and a couple of Omegas who work here. The three of them bring plates of different foods each corresponding to our particular tastes. Ah, Dad's cook is a sweetheart, always spoiling us.

I am served a plate with a big salad full of all kinds of tropical fruits with honey and nuts, as well as a small plate of prepared tuna. On the other hand my brothers are given different presentations of all kinds of meat. Jace for example ha: huge steak with sweet and sour sauce and asparagus that looks delicious, although I don't crave it as much as my fruit. -Dad isn't going to eat with us? Julian asks and that's when I realize that we hadn't expected him. With my fork in my mouth, 1 look at my mother with a guilty expression, waiting for her scolding.

But she shakes her head as she eats her carrot cream 1 think it is.

“Her father has some earrings, so they won't see him for the rest of the day. She informs us and Jace and I share a worrie look.

-He'll be here tomorrow for our birthday, won't he?

I ask doubtfully and mom gives me an annoyed look.

-Of course he will, Juliet, his father would never miss something so important. He's just making sure everything is ready f tomorrow. You know it's a very big event and we don't want anything to go wrong. He says very seriously and my cheeks burn with embarrassment for having doubted him.

Eighteen is an important age midget, are you ready to meet your wolves?

jackson says and I give him an excited smile.

“What color do you think my she-wolf will be? I ask and my thoughts fly with all the possibilities.

Well, I'm a black wolf and your dad has honey fur. Jackson is a few shades lighter than me but still black. Julian is a brigt light brown. So your wolves are most likely in that color range.

Mom says in a reflective voice and my older brother smiles cockily. He loves being the firstborn and the only male with black fur in the pack. Of the four of us, he has the biggest ego.

“1 hope my wolf will be golden like daddy's. Jace says and none of us are surprised by his comment. My dad is my little brother's hero.

“I just want him to be big enough to kick their asses in combat.

I say mischievously and throw a suggestive smile at the older two. Jackson rolls his eyes while Julian smiles in amusemen -Although size is a fundamental part of a fight, it is not essential. A smaller opponent can be more agile against a larger one and use it to his advantage to win.

Jackson says and I throw a nut that hits him in the nose. I have enough to do with training without listening to lessons frc my older brothers.

Mom opens her mouth to scold us but Dannia comes into the dining room and whispers something in her ear. She pales little and her eyes take on a strange gleam. She excuses herself from the food and leaves behind her Delta in a hurry.

My siblings and I share a look. I wasn't the only one who noticed my parents looking strange.

“What do they think is going on? I can't help but ask.

No idea. The twins answer in unison and it looks most frightening. I wonder if this is what Jace and 1 will look like. I wrinl my nose and look at them ugly.

Ugh don't do that, I don't know what, they're twins not twins.

You two do the same thing so don't complain,” julian tells me.

That's not true. Jace and I answer at the same time and we both look at each other before laughing.

Being just twins was a lot of fun. Most of the time.

Well little brothers, I'm off to enjoy a nice rejuvenating bath. Try not to miss me too much.

I tell them as I get up from the table and all kinds of comments are heard.

I trot to my room and as I pass by the den I can see my parents gathered with their corresponding Betas and Mom's Delta The hierarchy of the pack was a complicated thing to understand if you weren't one of us. The five of them seemed to be having an argument by the serious faces on everyone's faces. Dad more than anyone else looked tired, with bags under h eyes and messy hair.

I felt like staying and trying to hear what they were discussing, but Dad's Beta, Noel saw me and closed the door. I rolled my eyes.

They would tell us as soon as they wanted to, now I had to take care of myself. Tomorrow was the big party and my first transformation. And I was dreaming of meeting my mate at that time.

Which I didn’t think was going to happen because almost nobody found their mate on their first day as wolves but hey, it okay to dream.

Once in my room I filled the bathtub and added salts and bubbles. I took off my sweaty clothes and immersed myself in the warm water that relaxed my muscles.

Hummm, how good this felt.

My eyes close as I relax and in my mind the image of a large she-wolf with silver eyes and dark fur running freely through meadow appears.

'm dying for it to be tomorrow night.

I have always believed that when I transform my life will change forever.

I never thought Id be so right with my words...
