Chapter YOU PASSED
THIRD PERSON POV:
Enzo's eyes narrowed as he saw Sue collapse, clutching her chest where Fred had slashed her. She watched as the venom of his bite spread faster into her bloodstream. It was worse than being bitten by a living wolf, as it was consuming her twice. Rage bubbled inside Enzo as he watched her. She was useless to him, and he felt the need to get rid of her, as she had only foiled all his plans.
"You!" He growled under his breath, leaving Halle and rushing toward Sue. As she saw her uncle from the fading light that drew her closer to death, her eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.
"You... you came to help me," she whispered weakly, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. "I... knew you... cared..."
Enzo stared at her in disgust as she said this, and for a moment, it seemed like the battlefield held its breath for this moment where Enzo was about to show kindness.
With one pull, Enzo had Sue on her feet, then he stared into her eyes. "Of course, I came for you, Sue. You've been with me through it all. You deserve my gratitude. What is family for?"
Sue's trembling lips curled into a faint smile. Her free hand clutched Enzo's tightly. He would save her, and he wouldn't let her die.
But Enzo's expression darkened, and the gentleness in his voice turned into a venomous hiss in the twinkling of an eye.
"Goodbye, Sue." The words left his mouth.
Before anyone could react, Enzo plunged his hand into Sue's chest, ripping her heart out in one swift motion. Her eyes widened in shock, and her lifeless body crumpled to the ground as he stood over her, holding her heart, which was drenched in blood.
The entire battlefield stood in horror, and Enzo held up Sue's heart with a smirk on his face as he chuckled darkly. "If you're no use to me, then you're a liability. And if killing you means killing that wretched hybrid, so be it. Goodbye, Sue."
He crushed Sue's heart in his hand, expecting the magic link between Sue and Bella to sever the hybrid's life. But instead of Bella's body dying off, a shockwave of energy rippled through the battlefield.
The ground trembled as dozens of Enzo's vampires screamed, their bodies disintegrating into ash.
Enzo's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched his own army vanish before his eyes.
"No!" Enzo roared as the vampires left staggered in fear. "This... this wasn't supposed to happen!"
"You fool. Did you really think severing the link would kill Bella?" Halle yelled at Enzo in a mocking tone. "You are not
as smart as you think you are. That bond has been broken a long time ago. We knew it would come to this."
Inside Bella's body, she watched what just happened.
"That is one thing we did as a team, which you could never have thought of," she said to Radolf, who was struggling to get up. As she got close to him, he shifted swiftly underneath her gaze.
"You are too slow, child."
Outside, Enzo's fury erupted as he watched his army crumble before him. They were all linked to Sue, and he allowed his anger take over. His fists clenched tightly, veins bulging in his temples as the last remnants of his vampire soldiers turned to ash. The rage in his chest burned hotter than ever, and his crimson eyes glowed with murderous intent. "You dare to mock me!" he roared, his voice shaking the battlefield. He pointed a blood-soaked finger at Halle, Evelyn, Fred, and Bonnie, who stood together as the werewolves regrouped behind them.
"We didn't think we've won," Halle retorted.
"We know we've won," Evelyn added.
Her words were a spark to Enzo's anger. In the blink of an eye, he vanished from his spot and reappeared beside Fred, plunging his hand through the Alpha's chest. Fred's howl of pain was cut short as his body disintegrated into embers, fueling Enzo's growing power.
"No!" Evelyn screamed, charging at Enzo, but he was faster. With one swipe of his hand, he snapped her neck, her body collapsing lifelessly beside Fred's ashes. Halle raised her hands, conjuring a protective shield, but Enzo's amplified strength shattered it effortlessly.
He grabbed Halle by the throat. Bonnie tried to intervene, but Enzo put out his hand, and she plunged herself into it. She crumpled to the ground, turning to ashes. Halle struggled in his grip, gasping for air.
"You... you won't... win..."
Enzo sneered.
"At least I get to kill you twice. In spirit, and in person." He tightened his grip, and Halle's body disintegrated like the others.
Hazel, Riley, and the triplets stood in shock. Their chests rose and fell as they watched everyone they knew turn to ashes. "Who is next?" Enzo yelled as his eyes darted across the field, landing on Bella's friends. "I told her I would eat her mates, but she didn't believe me," he said, walking toward them.
Inside Bella's body, the fight with Radolf intensified. She saw the carnage unfolding outside through the portal he had opened. Enzo had killed everyone she cared about, and it made her hurt badly. It was the second time.
"My family!" Bella screamed, her voice cracking with pain and desperation. She lunged at Radolf, grabbing his neck with her hand. "Why are you doing this?" she yelled as her knuckles met his face.
"Tell me why! My family is dying because of you! I need a way out of here!" Radolf smirked as she pounded his face mercilessly.
"You still don't understand, do you?"
"What are you talking about?" she demanded, her grip tightening.
"You keep failing because you're still clinging to your emotions," he spat. "You fight for them. You rely on them. But emotions are weakness, Bella. They cloud your judgment and make you predictable."
"You do not know what you talk about. I need you the fuck out of my body. Leave!" she yelled as she punched him down to the ground. Radolf laughed coldly.
"That's why you'll never win. You think power comes from love and connection, but all it does is blind you. If you want to survive, you'll have to let go of everything that makes you weak." Radolf got to his feet, giving her only one blow, which sent her crashing to her knees. Her heart crumbled as she watched Enzo approach her mates.
The pain of watching her loved ones die combined with Radolf's relentless taunting threatened to crush her.
"No," she whispered as she tried to shut off her emotions.
"Stand back!" A familiar voice yelled, and Bella saw her father stepping forward. She shook her head as the thoughts of him dying flashed through her eyes.
"What will you do next? Cry and pound my face?" Radolf taunted her. Enzo's lips curled into a sinister grin as he spotted Herald.
"Well, what do we have here?" Enzo chuckled darkly, his eyes locking onto Herald. "Another foolish soul willing to die for the hybrid..."
Herald's jaw tightened as he squared his shoulders, meeting Enzo's gaze without a hint of fear.
"You've taken everything from my daughter, but it ends now." Enzo laughed, the sound reverberating across the battlefield.
In a blur, Enzo charged forward, his speed blinding. Herald barely managed to dodge the first strike, but Enzo's follow-up punch connected with his jaw, sending him crashing into the dirt.
"Alpha Herald!" Hazel screamed, but Riley pulled her back, shaking his head. They knew stepping in now was a death
sentence.
Inside Bella's body.
"Tell me, how many lives will you lose before you understand?"
Bella, who was still on the ground, shut her eyes. She knew Herald wouldn't last long against Enzo's overwhelming strength. She tried to block out Radolf's words, the screams of her friends, and the crushing guilt over her repeated failures.
"Focus," she whispered to herself. Radolf scoffed.
"Focus on what? You're powerless here." Bella tightened her eyes, trying to breathe. Radolf leaned closer. "Everything you love is crumbling. And yet, the answer to leaving is literally here. You're just too blind to see it, and you might
never."
Outside, Enzo pummeled Herald relentlessly. Blow after blow. Blood dripped from Herald's mouth as he staggered, but refused to fall.
Inside, Bella felt all the emotions ripple through her. Anger, fear, sadness. She tried to wash it away.
"Your father is halfway from dying," Radolf said, and her eyes shot open.
"Shut up!" She yelled.
She got to her feet, shutting her eyes, and connecting her fist with Radolf's chest, swallowing her being whole. Bella found herself in another strange dimension. There, she found her body sleeping.
"Congratulations, you passed your test, and you are ready." Radolf's voice echoed in the void. Bella looked around but she couldn't find Radolf.
"I will be here to guide you inside you, but your friends need you, and you have to end this now." As he said this, Bella felt her spirit being sucked into her body.
Outside, Enzo is holding onto Herald's neck. Bella's friends felt her body heating up, and Hazel created a protection barrier at once as a strange surge of energy blasted through the field, and her body rose...
