Chapter HAZEL'S PARENTS
THIRD PERSON POV:
One would have thought Bella was crazy because of what she was seeing, but she was far from that. She wasn't the only one plagued by ghosts, but no one knew this for now. While Bella was battling the ghost of Joseph Black-Moon, Hazel was in the Dusk Pack with Riley, trying to enjoy her weekend.
They had spent the entire day driving from the Frost pack to his father's mansion at a beach with a good ocean view. Finally, they got there in the evening.
"My butt hurts," Hazel groaned as soon as Riley came to a halt in the enormous mansion in front of them.
Riley leaned in to kiss her cheek. "You can rest all night now, and we can do whatever we want tomorrow.'
He spoke as though he hadn't been the one driving the entire time while Hazel had done nothing but play songs, read a book, and sleep through the entire ride. They both got down from the car, and Riley took Hazel's bag from her, grabbing her hand with his other hand, then they made their way to the front door. He slid a card on it, and the door beeped, opening up at once.
"I love it when my parents travel," Riley said, and Hazel chuckled.
A part of her still couldn't believe that she had been together with Riley for two months now, and he wasn't secretly an obsessed boyfriend who wanted to make his girlfriend jealous, or a mate that wanted to compete with her. He was normal, and he loved her so much. It was arguable that he even loved her more than she loved herself or more than he loved himself.
"Do you like it?" Riley's question cut Hazel's thoughts, making her realize she had been lost for a moment without even knowing when they had made it up the stairs because Riley held her hand the entire time.
"I love it!" she exclaimed, taking her hands off his and walking into the finely lit room, which had a master bed in it. The bed was large enough to fit ten people.
Hazel threw herself on it at once, moving her hands and legs on it as though she was trying to make a snow angel. Riley dropped her bags in his walk-in closet, then he walked back to the bed, throwing himself on it, causing Hazel's body to bounce off slightly because of the force exerted on the bed by his weight.
As she fell, he reached out for her, pulling her towards him. She got on top of him, staring into his eyes, and in one swift turn, he had her pinned to the bed.
"I missed you more than you know," Riley whispered in a deep and gravelly voice. The intensity in his gaze made Hazel's heart pound faster.
"How bad?" she questioned, causing a smirk to pull his lips, then he lowered his face to her neck, causing her to swallow hard. He hesitated for a moment, waiting for her to crave him more.
"I know what you're doing." He chuckled as she said this, then he let his lips fall further, meeting her soft and warm skin, which trembled under his lips as he planted kisses on them.
Soon he pulled away from her, staring into her eyes. Without another word, he kissed her again, his lips hungry and insistent as they devoured hers. Hazel's fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer as her body arched beneath him, feeling the hard press of his body between her legs, and the anticipation building with each passing second.
Riley's hands moved down her body, reaching for the hem of her gown. Then he slid it up her thighs and pulled her underwear down in one swift motion. Hazel gasped at the cool air hitting her skin, her body shivering under his touch. This made her let out a moan in his mouth. As her body wriggled under his, his hands made their way to his pants, working on his belt, and in no time he was pant-less.
He pressed his forehead against hers for a moment, with both of them breathing heavily. Then, without hesitation, Riley positioned himself at her entrance and pushed inside her slowly, inch by inch. A soft moan escaped Hazel's lips as she felt him filling her, stretching her, and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him deeper. Riley groaned as he sank fully into her warmth, his hands gripping her hips as he began to move. Slowly at first, then he increased his pace in her as their bodies found a rhythm together. Each thrust sent a wave of pleasure coursing through Hazel's body, which caused her to dig her nails into his back as she urged him on, wanting more of him. Their breath mingled in the small space between them, and soon their hearts thumped in rhythm. Hazel's back arched, her body responding to the waves of pleasure building inside her. Soon she could feel her release with the tension coiling tight in her core.
Riley's lips found her neck again, kissing and biting softly as he moved faster. By now, their bodies were slick with sweat, and the sounds from their moans filled the room. Hazel let out a soft moan as the pressure inside her built.
"I'm so close," she whispered.
Riley's movements became erratic, his grip on her tightening as he neared his own release. With a final thrust, Hazel cried out, her body shuddering as she came. Waves of pleasure washed over her as her muscles clenched around Riley, pulling him deeper as he followed her.
"Wait," he said, and she let go of him at once. Then he groaned as he found his own release, his body tensing before collapsing on top of hers.
As they lay there, Hazel's thoughts raced. She had gotten carried away, and he almost released in her. They didn't have condoms on, and she didn't take pills. Her heart thumped faster, and she imagined what could have happened.
"You are thinking again," he said, reaching for her, then he grabbed her hand, pulling her close to him. She threw a hand around his body, placing her head on his chest.
"I'm not stupid to get you pregnant, Hazel, and I know when to stop," he said to her, caressing her head, then she kissed his cheek without saying a word.
***
Hazel and Riley freshened up shortly, then they left the room to find something to eat. Luckily, they found frozen food, which Riley's parents had left behind before they traveled. They heated it up and ate their dinner, talking about random things. After that, they cleaned up and went to bed.
A few hours after they went to bed, Hazel felt like she needed to pee. She tossed under the covers, trying to shake off the discomfort. The urge to pee finally pulled her from the warmth of Riley's arms. Carefully, she slipped out of bed, hoping not to disturb him as she padded across the room and into the adjoining bathroom. The cool tiles sent a shiver through her bare feet as she reached for the light switch, but when she flipped it, nothing happened. The bathroom remained in eerie darkness.
A frown creased her brow.
"Weird," she muttered, but the urgency in her bladder made her press on. She stepped further inside, the soft padding of her feet echoing against the tiles. Suddenly, the room felt colder, and a chill raced up her spine, causing her to clasp her hands around her body.
When had it gotten so cold? She questioned herself.
Her breath hitched as a strange sense of being watched gripped her. She spun around, but there was no one in the bathroom with her. She exhaled sharply, laughing at herself, trying to wash off the feeling.
"It's just the dark. Nothing to freak out about," she whispered under her breath.
She was about to turn back when the temperature dropped even further, and her heart started racing with a suffocating heaviness pressing down on her chest. Finally, she peed successfully, then she pressed down the buttons on the water closet, flushing it. Then she made her way towards the door. The shadows seemed to shift unnaturally in the room, and before Hazel could get to the door, she froze for a moment as a soft voice whispered her name.
"Hazel..."
Her heart stopped, because she could recognize that voice, but she hadn't heard that voice in years, and she didn't want to believe it, but her lips moved.
"Mom?" Hazel barely croaked, her throat constricting as fear clawed its way up her body.
She turned around to see a figure emerge from the darkened room, and it was her mother. She looked pale, and her face was contorted in sorrow and pain, just as it had been when Hazel last saw her. Her father walked out of the shadows too, his eyes hollow as he stared straight through her.
Hazel swallowed hard. This was definitely a dream, she said to herself, pinching her body, but she could feel pain.
"Why didn't you save us, Hazel?" her mother's voice trembled with accusation, which echoed in the small bathroom. "You were supposed to protect us."
Hazel's breath came in ragged gasps as tears welled up in her eyes.
"I-I couldn't... I was too young... I didn't know..." Her words were weak.
Her parents inched closer to her while she stood still, unsure of what to do. "They took us away, Hazel, and killed us. You watched," her father finally spoke.
His words did nothing but pierce her heart further, causing her to shake her head.
"Why are you doing this? I couldn't save you. I was a child, and they would have killed me!" Hazel screamed, backing up until her back hit the cold tile wall. Her body trembled uncontrollably as her mother's hand reached out for her with her cold and ghostly fingers grazing her cheek.
Hazel moved her face away, letting her mother's fingers fall. Her actions angered her mother, whose face twisted. "You refused your mother's touch? Because you thought you were better off alive? We had waited so long to have our daughter with us, so now you will join us."
"NO! NO!" Hazel screamed, turning around, trying to run, but she couldn't find the door of the bathroom. Suddenly, the bathroom morphed around her; the walls started closing in, and the darkness swallowed her whole. Shadows danced around, taking the shape of twisted figures she couldn't recognize. People and things surrounded her, mocking her with their movements.
Hazel fell to her knees, covering her ears as the whispers grew louder, and her mother's voice kept repeating, "You should have saved us."
The walls became stretched, pulling her into a whirlpool of memories she tried to bury, and she rewatched the murder of her parents over and over.
"Hazel!"
She jolted forcefully from sleep, drenched in sweat with her heart pounding violently against her ribs. Riley was sitting up next to her, his hand gripping her shoulder with worry etched on his face.
"Hazel, were you okay? You were screaming in your sleep."
Panting, she clutched the sheets to her chest, her mind reeling from the vivid nightmare. She looked around the room, disoriented, and the darkness still felt suffocating, even though Riley was right there beside her.
"I saw them," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I saw my parents..."
Riley's expression softened as he pulled her close, cradling her.
"It was just a nightmare," he murmured, kissing the top of her head.
But as Hazel clung to him, her heart wouldn't settle. The nightmare felt far too real, and the lingering coldness in the
air made her wonder if her parents' ghosts had truly been there-
