Chapter 272
Chapter 272
he was, staring at Estrella with a firm resolve in his eyes, “Estrella, if you’re considering getting back with Jason, I’m against it.
You don’t even need to ask why. You can be with anyone else, but Jason is out of the question.”
Ever since Jason asked him to step aside for Holly, Cole had had an unfavorable view of this marriage. Cole had never intended
for his daughter to be with Jason for a lifetime. Now that they had finally settled things cleanly why would they bother with a
marriage. again?
Playing the villain for once, Cole stood his ground against the reunion with Jason. Estrella couldn’t help but find humor in his
staunch opposition. She teased, “What about Bryce?”
Cole’s face darkened instantly. “Why must you always involve yourself with the Nelsons? Are they the only men on earth?” His
voice grew stern, “And I definitely do not agree with Bryce. If you even mention the name of their cousin Robert, Estrella, believe
me, I’ll have words with you.”
Knowing Estrella was never serious, Cole preempted her, even bringing up young to make his point.
Robert
Estrella chuckled at her father’s rare anger, “Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll handle it.”
Cole’s disapproval of their remarriage was expected. Estrella had seen the disappointment in his eyes three years ago when she
was hospitalized after the fall. It was clear he would never support Jason again, even though he had once been in favor of their
marriage.
After her talk with Cole, Estrella took a deep breath as she left his study, then retreated to her own room. No sooner had she
entered than she saw Isaac, fidgeting on the bed, looking around as if searching for someone.
“What’s up, buttercup? Why are you awake?” Estrella sat beside him on the bed.
Isaac looked up, still drowsy, “Mommy, where’s Uncle Jason?”
Estrella draped a light blanket over his sleeping bag, “He went home, sweetheart.”
Hearing this, Isaac clambered into Estrella’s lap, finding comfort in her embrace.
Estrella held Isaac close, kissing his soft, light curls, then gently rocked him, trying to soothe him back to sleep.
After settling in her arms, Isaac raised his head to say, “Mommy, I want Uncle Jason.”
Estrella kissed his forehead, “He will come over tomorrow to play with you.”
Isaac continued earnestly, “Uncle Jason... could be Daddy.”
After this period of bonding with Jason, Isaac accepted him again. It wasn’t just about verbally calling him ‘dad, but a thoughtful
consideration from the two-year-old.
Estrella smiled, “Big boys need to have big hearts, right?”
“Uh-huh.” Isaac nodded, then added, “Uncle Jason can kiss Mommy.”
Struck by his words, Estrella’s laughter faded. They stared at each other, and Estrella felt a pang of empathy for Isaac. He was
such a small child, but he made the decision to share his most treasured person. It was clear he had truly taken Jason to heart.
Hugging Isaac tighter, she whispered, “Isaac, Uncle Jason is Daddy. You can call him that from now on and be best buddies. And
when Daddy kisses Mommy, it’s because he loves. me, just like you love me. Isaac loves Mommy so much, you’d want others to
love me too, right? To help look after me?”
With that explanation, Isaac understood that Daddy being close to Mommy was about love, not competition. They could both
look after her, and he eagerly nodded, “Mommy is right. You’re amazing.”
Estrella smiled, planting a kiss on his cheek, “Close your eyes now, time for sleep.
“Okay.” Isaac agreed, snuggling into her arms and shutting his eyes.
As she gently patted his back, Estrella hoped he would grow up open-hearted, not burdened by her and Jason’s complicated
past. She longed for Isaac to be surrounded by love and to grow into a gentle, loving man himself.
Just as Isaac drifted off, Estrella’s phone buzzed. It was Jason calling. Quietly, she took the call in the bathroom, whispering,
“You home?”
On the other end, Jason’s voice was soft, “Yeah, just got in. Estrella, I miss you.” It wasn’t a lie. He really did miss them. As he
left the Dorvold family home, he found himself longing for a life together with Estrella and Isaac.
Estrella didn’t reply, her conversation with Cole still heavy on her mind. Sensing her silence, Jason inquired, “Did your dad talk to
you after I left?”
Estrella chuckled, “You know him pretty well.”
Without waiting for more questions, she admitted, “Dad’s not on board. He’s pretty set on his decision.”
Jason was silent for a moment, then resolved, “I’ll talk to him about it.”
After hearing Jason out, Estrella mentioned, “But Isaac really likes you.”
A smile spread across Jason’s face, “Isaac’s opinion is important, and so is yours. I hope. you can like me again.” hey chatted a
while longer, about mundane things and plans to visit the hospital the next day, before ending the call.
Estrella stepped out of the bathroom, set her phone aside, took a quick shower, and then headed to bed..
Sandalwood Oasis.
After hanging up, Jason stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, lost in thought, before returning to the bookshelf. He pulled out a
photo album and began flipping through it.
He regretted not having wedding photos with Estrella, but this time, he thought, they could make it right-with Isaac by their side.
Staring at the photo of a young Estrella and recalling the slip of the tongue she had made that evening, Jason couldn’t help but
chuckle.
At this point, whether or not Isaac was his flesh and blood seemed irrelevant to Jason. What mattered most was whether they
could remain together and restore the trust they once had.
The following morning, as per their arrangement, Jason arrived at the Dorvold residence to find Isaac at the breakfast table.
Upon seeing him, Isaac dashed over with a gleeful “Daddy.”
Isaac’s call of “Daddy” caused Autumn’s brows to furrow in disapproval. “Why is he back. to calling people ‘Daddy’
indiscriminately?”
Standing in the foyer, Jason’s face bloomed with joy when Isaac called him “Daddy” instead of “Uncle Jason.” He bent down and
scooped Isaac into his arms.
“Daddy.” Isaac’s voice rang out even more energetically, reinforcing Jason’s delight. Despite his young age, Isaac knew just how
to charm people.
Autumn approached them, “Jason, you’re here bright and early.”
Cradling Isaac, Jason replied, “Just need to take Estrella out for a bit.” They had agreed to visit the hospital today to check on
why Estrella lost that part of memories.
“Estrella’s still asleep.”
“I’ll go check on her.”
As Jason moved to ascend the stairs with Isaac still in his arms, Autumn took Isaac back, insisting, “Isaac is in the middle of
breakfast. Let him finish first.”
“Okay, I’ll go wake Estrella,” Jason said, eager for some alone time with her..
Upon entering the bedroom, he promptly locked the door behind him.
