Chapter 246
Chapter 246
Isaac struggled with all his might for several attempts, but Estrella remained as still as a statue, not budging an inch from Isaac’s
embrace.
Looking down at Isaac, Jason couldn’t help but chuckle. Seeing Isaac huffing and puffing from the effort, he said, “Let me handle
this. You’ve got a good ten years before you can try again.” In ten years, Isaac might still not be able to lift his mom himself.
Unable to move Estrella, Isaac reluctantly stepped aside to let Jason take over. Watching Jason lift Estrella with ease, Isaac
couldn’t hide his envy.
Jason tiptoed to lay Estrella on the bed, and as he pulled the covers over her, he instinctively planted a kiss on her lips.
Isaac, standing beside Jason, was taken aback at the sight of Jason kissing Estrella’s mouth. The next second, Isaac’s little arms
shoved Jason forcefully to the side, forbidding him from touching Estrella again.
Isaac had sort of liked Jason before, and he was even considering letting Jason be his dad. But now this guy was trying to steal
his mom, kissing his Estrella.
Isaac couldn’t swallow this affront.
For a moment, Jason was dumbfounded. What triggered this sudden outburst? His hand resting on Isaac’s head, Jason asked,
“Isaac, we’re all men here. If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out.”
Despite Jason’s words, Isaac was still seething, balling his little fists and pacing around the room in a huff.
Jason muttered to himself. Whose hot temper did this kid inherit? What kind of guy did Estrella find out there that they ended up
with such a fiery little one?
Now, Jason was really seeing what Isaac was made of. On reflection, the kid was damn like Estrella.
Jason stared at Isaac, bewildered, slowly piecing together the clues. “You’re mad because I shouldn’t have kissed your mom?”
he ventured.
Isaac, finally seeing that Jason got the point, crossed his arms over his chest and nodded seriously, “Hmm.”
Jason couldn’t help but laugh. “Kid, we need to talk. She’s my wife, and it’s legal for me to kiss her.” At this moment, Jason
shamelessly took advantage of Isaac’s lack of understanding of the law and the fact that he didn’t know they were divorced.
As Jason finished speaking, Isaac crossed his arms even tighter, the scowl on his face intensifying. Estrella was his, all his.
Fuming at Jason, Isaac had made up his mind. He didn’t want this dad anymore. He would find a new dad, one who wouldn’t
compete with him for Estrella’s affection.
If Isaac knew that all dads needed their wife’s love, he might swear off the idea of having a dad forever.
Isaac’s pouty demeanor amused Jason. How come the kid’s jealousy reminded him so much of himself? He never expected
such a small person to be so fiercely jealous.
As their eyes met, Jason saw the hostility in Isaac’s gaze and said, “Alright, when you grow up, I’ll find you a girlfriend.”
After saying this, he turned to look at Estrella in the hospital bed, only to see Isaac dash over and cover her mouth, afraid Jason
would kiss her again. Jason burst into laughter, feeling all the more that Isaac’s antics were just like his own.
After a good bit of commotion, and a promise from Jason not to steal any more kisses from Estrella, Isaac finally calmed down.
The next morning, when Estrella opened her eyes, the atmosphere in the hospital room. was tense. Isaac and Jason were each
seated on a sofa, hostility and defiance still evident in Isaac’s eyes.
Estrella propped herself up in bed, too exhausted the night before to remember falling asleep. Luckily Isaac was here; who
knows what might have happened otherwise.
But what was with Isaac’s look? Didn’t he like Jason before, even wanting him for a dad?
And Jason, with that innocent face-what was that about?
Yawning, Estrella asked, bewildered, “What happened last night?”
Right now, Estrella was certain something serious had transpired between the two men after she had fallen asleep.
Isaac, arms crossed over his chest, turned to Jason and let out a defiant huff. After glancing at Isaac and then at Jason, Estrella
inquired, “Jason, my son’s usually such a good-natured kid. What did you do to tick him off?”
Jason remained silent, and Isaac huffed even louder than before.
Jason turned to Estrella and said, “Estrella, why don’t you ask your son what his deal is?”
When Estrella looked at Isaac, he pouted and huffed. Estrella translated, “He said he wants to cut ties with you, never to cross
paths again. And don’t even think about playing dad anymore.”
Jason looked disgusted. “Estrella, he just huffed. That’s all.” He wasn’t clueless; he just didn’t get Isaac’s point. And the kid, how
much could he really mean? It was probably
Estrella stirring the pot.
Estrella got out of bed, embraced Isaac in her arms, and planted a kiss on his cheek, “Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Why are you
so upset? Did something happen between you and him?”
Despite the issues between her and Jason, she wouldn’t deliberately involve her child or teach Isaac to hate. She hoped her
child would always be kind and only encounter kindness in the future.
Comforted by Estrella, Isaac wrapped his arms around her neck, his little face nuzzling against her shoulder, the picture of
grievance. The sight was all too reminiscent of Jason. Estrella, holding him with one arm and soothing his back with the other,
consoled him, “Honey, didn’t you like Uncle Jason before? He even brought you that Lego set yesterday. Let’s talk about what’s
bothering you, okay? Don’t keep it bottled up inside and hurt yourself.”
Estrella’s soothing words seemed to work magic on Isaac. When Isaac lifted his gaze to Jason, the animosity that had once
clouded Isaac’s eyes had dissipated, replaced by a newfound softness. Right after that, Isaac turned to look at Estrella. When
his little hand pinched Estrella’s mouth, Estrella instantly understood. She turned to Jason and said, “You stole a kiss from me
last night, didn’t you?”
“Isaac’s got quite the jealous streak,” Estrella explained with a knowing smile. “He’s so tight with Bryce, but a casual pat on my
shoulder from Bryce is off-limits. And now, you’ve gone and made an enemy of him for sure.”
With Estrella’s words painting the picture, Jason found himself looking at Isaac and, much to his surprise, seeing a reflection of
himself.
