Chapter 273
Chapter 273
Jason stood at the edge of Estrella’s bed, watching her deep in slumber, sprawled out across the mattress. Bending down, he gently scooped her up and repositioned her so she lay flat on her back, a position he had always told her was better for her health. Despite his repeated advice back when their relationship was still on good terms, Estrella could never quite shake off her old sleeping habits. It was only during a stretch of time three years ago, when he often returned to Sandalwood Oasis, that she briefly adapted while they slept entwined each night.
Observing that she didn’t stir even as he moved her, Jason couldn’t help but admire her ability to sleep so soundly.
Estrella’s soft skin, naturally full brows, and long lashes held his gaze, and without. realizing how much time had passed, he leaned in and kissed her lips. Jason found himself hooked on the kiss, sinking deeper with every passing second.
Estrella, who had been sleeping soundly, suddenly dreamt she was being bitten by a dog, right on her mouth, which jolted her awake to find Jason stealing a kiss. Her face. darkened, and she pushed his face away, her voice tinged with exasperation, “Jason, can’t a girl get some peace in the early morning?”
If it weren’t for his handsome face, she might have slapped him already.
“Estrella, it’s almost nine. Time to get up,” said Jason, smoothing a hand over her forehead.
Estrella rolled over, clutching her pillow and burying her face into it, murmuring, “Cut it out, Jason. I’m still tired.” She felt drained from the past few weeks and was in no mood for
his antics.
Her mention of fatigue cooled Jason’s playful mood, and even his breathing softened as he watched over her.
Despite her closed eyes, Estrella could feel his intense gaze upon her. Failing to fall back asleep, she opened her eyes, tempted to smack some sense into him.
Their eyes m met, and facing the look of disdain from Estrella, Jason swiftly wrapped her in his arms and kissed her again, unapologetically.
Ever since her return, he hadn’t spent a day without longing for her, reminiscing the warmth of their nights together three years prior. Now, with Estrella right before him, Jason was not about to hold back.
His relentless kisses infuriated Estrella. Her peaceful Sunday morning was completely disrupted by his antics.
“Jason, are you trying to “Estrella’s words were cut short as Jason’s lips enveloped hers once more

The more she resisted, the deeper Jason kissed her, leaving no room for escape. He was determined to seize every moment alone with Estrella.
It was only when Isaac’s voice filtered through the door, calling out for his mom, that Jason ceased his teasing.
“Mommy.”
“Estrella, aren’t you up yet?” Autumn’s voice followed.
Jason felt a sense of helplessness as he got up, his gaze lingering over Estrella’s delicate, exposed shoulder. Noticing his movement, Estrella responded teasingly, her tone filled with sarcasm. “Why’re you moving away? Weren’t you enjoying the moment?” He was so absorbed in the moment, so carefree, it was as if he thought they were still at the tranquil Sandalwood Oasis.
After a brief final peck, Jason straightened her clothes and went to open the door.
“What’s with locking the door this early in the morning?” Autumn complained as Jason let her and Isaac in.
Seeing Estrella still in bed, Autumn urged, “Weren’t you supposed to handle some things today? Get up, Estrella. I’ll take care of Isaac tonight so you can rest.”
Knowing they wouldn’t be able to get their marriage certificate on a weekend, Autumn felt at ease waking Estrella up.
With her arm resting on her eyes, Estrella reluctantly got out of bed upon realizing three people were watching her at the bedside.
After a home-cooked breakfast, Jason drove Estrella to the hospital.
Dr. Hans conducted a thorough examination and inquired about events surrounding the fire and whether Estrella had experienced any similar dreams since. Estrella shook her head. She had no recollection of the fire.
When the test results came back showing no signs of neurological damage and normal endocrine functions, Dr. Hans suggested they consult a psychologist, as it seemed unlikely the memory loss was due to a neurological or endocrine cause.
As they left the hospital, Estrella, pondering the possibilities, said, “Jason, could it be that I did start that fire, but there’s more to the story? Maybe we do need to see a psychologist.” Jason gripped the steering wheel tightly, “It’s possible,” he admitted, adding that Drew was still piecing together her whereabouts around the time of the fire.
With no memory of the events from seven years ago, Estrella had to rely on their investigation. They grabbed lunch before meeting with Serene, who recounted everything she could remember about that time.

As they were leaving, Estrella suddenly asked, Jason, you said you never had feelings for Holly, so why did you go to her room back then?”
Jason explained that he wanted to clear the air due to some heavy public scrutiny at that time, especially since Korey had just assumed his new position, and he didn’t want to be misunderstood.
His words left Estrella deep in thought.
For a moment, Jason felt like he was on the cusp of a breakthrough, a thread of understanding weaving its way through his thoughts. Yet, the clarity was elusive, the tangle of ideas resisting his attempts to straighten them out in the brief time he afforded himself.
In the afternoon, he and Estrella took Isaac out for a jaunt to the department store. That evening, Jason found himself once again dining at the Dorvold residence, a place rapidly becoming as familiar to him as his own home. It wasn’t until the sky began to don its twilight hues that Jason said his goodbyes to the Dorvold family.
Crossing the threshold of the Dorvold home for the first time had felt like a hurdle, but now, it seemed, the door would always be open to him. There was a growing sense of contentment in the air. Isaac’s affection for him was blossoming with each passing day, and Estrella appeared to be growing accustomed to his constant presence. Everything was falling into place, as natural as the changing of seasons.
