Chapter 36
Evie
I was about two hours into my studying when someone knocked on my door.
“Come in!” I called out and looked towards the door as it opened. Molly and a girl I didn’t recognize entered. The girl was obviously much younger than me or Molly. Her straight, brown hair was cut above her shoulders and her green eyes were outlined by her lavishly applied make-up.
“Hi.” I greeted the girls, standing up from the desk.
“Evie, this is Lucy, Noah’s baby sister.” Molly introduced me to Noah’s sister. I started grinning, excited to meet Noah’s family.
“It’s so good to finally meet you, Luna!” Lucy smiled, bowing her head. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her in for a hug,
“You too!” I said excitedly,
“Call me Evie.” I ordered once I released her from the hug.
“Wow, you really are amazing.” Lucy awed at me and I blushed.
“What are you guys doing here?” I asked.
“Noah thought you could use some girl time after this crazy weekend.” Lucy said. I looked at the girls apprehensively, not sure if I would approve of their ‘girl time’ ideas.
“Oh, really?” I asked.
“Don’t you want to?” Lucy’s face fell a little.
“No, it sounds fun!” I assured her,
“It’s just, Molly’s idea of fun make me nervous.” Molly and Lucy laughed at me,
“I can’t argue with that.” Molly shrugged.
“Noah said the same thing, that’s why I was in charge of the plans.” Lucy smiled smugly. God Bless Noah.
“And what are the plans?” I asked Lucy.
“Spa day!” She cheered. Oh boy. Molly clapped her hands, acting as Lucy’s hype girl.
“Don’t worry,” Molly winked at me,
“There will be champagne.” I couldn’t help but laugh at her.
“Come on!” Lucy whined impatiently, leading the way towards the spa.
“I called ahead and got the Luna package.” Lucy said as we stepped into the elevator.
“I’m almost afraid to ask what that is.” I sighed.
“Nails, hair, waxing, massage…the works!” Lucy replied.
“I am not getting waxed.” I said sternly. Molly whispered in my ear,
“Lots of champagne.” I glared at her and Lucy as we exited the elevator and followed Lucy to the Wellness Center.
“Luna!” I’m pretty sure the entire staff was there to greet us at the door. I groaned at the attention,
“Can you all please just call me Evie?” I mumbled. The staff looked around at each other nervously. I suspected that I was probably the first Luna who wasn’t crazy about a spa day.
“Shall we start with your hair?” One of the older ladies piped up.
“And what do you want to do with my hair?” I narrowed my eyes at her, protectively stroking my braid. The older lady shoved one of the younger blondes forward,
“This is Rose, the hair guru.” She introduced her,
“I’m Helda, I oversee everyone.” The older woman said.
“What do you want done with your hair?” Rose asked, leading me towards a chair.
“I like my hair the way it is.” I told her.
“How about just a trim and shampoo?” Rose suggested.
“Sure….” I replied uneasily.
Rose wrapped an apron around my neck and started undoing my braid. She brushed out my hair and dropped my head into the sink. She ran warm water over my hair and massaged my scalp before adding the shampoo. She rinsed out the shampoo and sat me back up. She brushed out my hair again and started cutting it. I watched the hair fall to the ground possessively, ready to rip the scissors out of her hand if it became too much. But, Rose did a good job only trimming off the dead ends before drying my hair and styling it.
“Nails next!” A woman with blue hair pulled me from the chair and led me to a large leather chair with a tub at my feet. Lucy and Molly were already each in a chair with their feet soaking in the bubbly water.
“I’m Maggie.” The nail artist said as she helped me into the chair and turned on the water. She handed me a remote and instructed me on how to work the massage chair. Maggie handed me a giant ring with fake painted nails on it,
“Pick a color.” She told me before walking away.
“Oooh, what color are you going to pick?” Lucy asked. I stared at her blankly. Molly, who was sitting in the chair next to Lucy, held up her half empty glass of champagne in a way of cheers.
“Let’s get the Luna some bubbly!” Molly ordered. One of the younger girls scurried around and delivered me a champagne glass. I downed the glass before I could even thank her.
“Would you like a refill, Luna?” The little blonde asked.
“Yes, she does.” Molly answered for me. I sipped the next glass slowly, already feeling warm from the first drink.
“This isn’t completely your thing, is it?” Lucy suddenly asked, frowning.
“I’m just not comfortable being in the spotlight, Lucy.” I shrugged, not wanting her to be upset.
“Oh, you’re gonna have to get over that.” Lucy shrugged, her frown gone and my urge to make her feel better gone as well. Molly laughed at her. I handed Maggie the blue fingernail that I had picked and she hurried off to grab the color.
“Do you want your fingers to match?” Maggie asked.
“Sure, why not?” I replied, sipping on the champagne.
Maggie carefully painted my toes in the navy blue color I had picked out and asked if I wanted a design on my big toe. My expression told her that I didn’t care. She added a sparkly top coat. She stuffed a foam divider between my toes and helped me waddle to the next chair. She put my toes under a dryer and instructed me to place my hands on the table.
She started shaping and filing my nails, before painting on the same blue polish. I could tell she was about to ask me if I wanted a design on my fingers, but thought better of it. Instead, she just added the same sparkle to my ring fingers. Molly and Lucy were sitting at the desks beside me getting their own nails painted when mine went under the dryer.
“Hi, Luna, my name is Vivian and I do waxes….”
“No.” I glared at the short, black haired woman, silencing her quickly. Vivian looked over at Molly and Lucy who were shaking their heads dramatically. Vivian frowned and walked away. She was replaced by a middle-aged lady,
“I’m not here to wax anything, I promise.” The lady held up her hands in surrender,
“I’m Carly, the massage therapist.”
“Now, a massage I can get behind.” I agreed eagerly. Carly smiled and led the way to a private room after my nails were dry. In the center of the room was a cushioned table covered in a white sheet.
“Get undressed and under the sheet on the table. Lay on your stomach.” Carly told me before leaving the room. I stripped my clothes off and got under the sheet quickly, I was not one to be naked in front of strangers.
Carly entered the room again and started arranging things on a cart next to the table. She moved the sheet around on top of me, but was careful to keep everything important covered. She turned on a white noise machine and the sound of falling rain filled the room. She started rubbing some sort of oil over my back and legs, deeply massaging my muscles. I’m pretty sure I dozed off at some point. Eventually, I woke up to the warm pressure of hot stones on my back.
“How are you feeling, Luna?” Carly asked me as the warm stones soothed my back.
“Amazing.” I sighed dreamily.
“I’ll have to give the Alpha a lesson.” Carly’s tone was very suggestive. I blushed deeply and buried my face in the pillow.
Noah and I were clearly obsessed with each other and we both were overwhelmed with desire. But, I wasn’t ready to give in yet and I knew he was waiting for me to say the words. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could hold out, but the idea of him giving me a message was certainly not helping.
“When you’re ready, Luna, you can get dressed. Take your time.” Carly told me before leaving the room again. I relaxed on the table for a few more minutes before slowly lifting myself up. I got dressed and left the room to find Molly and Lucy, suddenly much more relaxed.
“You look content.” Molly laughed at me. They were leaving the sunnah.
“That was actually really nice. Thank you Lucy.” I smiled at Lucy who seemed satisfied with her spa day idea. I had to admit, I did feel like a new woman as Lucy, Molly, and I left the Wellness Center.
“Do you want to carpool to campus tomorrow?” Molly asked me as we walked towards the elevator.
“I have to leave around 9:00.” I told her.
“Yeah, me too.” She shrugged.
“Sure, that would be good.” I knew that Molly and I had similar schedules since we often spotted each other leaving campus. It would be nice to have someone to ride into campus with.
“I’ll meet you in the lobby in the morning?” Molly said.
“Sounds good.” I responded before stepping onto the elevator by myself. Molly and Lucy stayed on the ground floor while I retreated to my room again, ready for some quiet time. I plopped down on my bed with one of my books and waited for Noah to come back from his office.
