Chapter 34
Noah
“Little mate, are you okay?” I asked my sweet Evie, stroking her face.
“Thank you for letting me stay.” She said in a shaky voice.
“Everleigh, I don’t let you do anything. You are your own person. Don’t let what my father said rattle you. I want a partner, not an accessory.” I sighed at her, willing her to hear me. She nodded, touching my face with her soft hand,
“I know, Noah. I’m sorry you had to speak to your father that way.” She said.
“I don’t have a good relationship with my father, Evie, that has nothing to do with you.” I said, shaking my head at her. She leaned into me and pressed her lips to mine.
“Did you need something from me?” I asked, running my fingers through her hair. She shook her head,
“I was just missing you.” She shrugged. I pressed my lips to her temple,
“I missed you, too, baby. Let’s go upstairs and see how you’re settling in.” I suggested.
“Are you done with your work?” She asked me, concerned.
“All done for the day.” I assured her, grabbing her hand in mine and leading the way to our floor.
“Did you see Mack before you came to find me?” I asked her, sitting on the edge of her bed and watching as Evie started to put away some of the things Mack hadn’t organized.
“Yes.” She answered, distracted with her organizing. She placed all her school stuff on the desk in the sitting room, gently laid her favorite blanket on the couch, and organized her reading books and photo albums on the small, 4-shelf bookcase in the corner of the sitting area.
“Did you want to change anything?” I asked her. She sat her framed photos on the same bookcase, putting the one of her family in Hawaii on the end table by the bed.
“No.” She answered plainly again. I smirked at her, grabbing her hand as she moved away from the bedside table.
“Evie.” I chuckled as her eyes finally focused on me. She smiled then,
“I asked her to bring me some art supplies.” She admitted.
“I didn’t know you liked art?” I replied, surprised and excited to learn more about her. She nodded,
“I like to draw and paint.” She blushed, clearly uncomfortable talking about herself.
“You could turn the office up here into your art studio.” I suggested. She immediately perked up,
“Really?” Her voice squeaked.
“I told you love, you can do anything you want here. We each have an office up here and on the ground floor. You can turn your office into an art studio.” I told her, letting go of her hand as she started bouncing around the room.
“I want to see it!” She begged, already running out of the room. I followed after her, laughing and admiring my adorable little mate. She stood in front of the two office doors,
“The first door.” I said, coming up behind her. She threw open the door and stumbled inside. It was completely empty and bare. My mother had taken all her belongings with her and anything left behind, my father quickly had gotten rid of. He didn’t want any reminders of my mother in the packhouse.
“This would be perfect!” She declared, happily clapping her hands together. I wrapped my arms around her from behind,
“I’m so glad you like it.” I nuzzled my face into her neck,
“We can go shopping this weekend for whatever you need, furniture, supplies, paint, anything.” I told her. She was vibrating with excitement against me. She twisted in my arms and threw her arms around my neck, kissing me eagerly.
“I’ll do anything to make you happy, Everleigh.” I purred, kissing my way down her neck. She hummed in response, running her hands up and down my back and resting her head against my shoulder.
“Do you have any idea how much I love you, Everleigh?” I told her as my hands explored her body. A sweet moan escaped her lips and Remi howled in my head. She pulled back and I was afraid I had said too much too fast, instead, her wide eyes burned into mine.
“Probably as much as I love you.” She whispered and I was putty in her hands; Remi went crazy in my head.
“Little mate….” My voice was husky and threatening to give way to my deepest desire. She smiled at me knowingly and pressed her body against mine, reclaiming my lips.
“You drive me mad.” I told her as we both pulled away, breathless. Evie untangled herself from me and left the office. I followed after her, shaking my head at my little vixen.
