Chapter Prologue
Inside the werewolf realm….
*From “The Royal Twins of La Lune”
“Happy birthday, ma petite princesse.” Stella smiled at her daughter, smoothing down her long red hair and kissing the top of her head.
“Merci, mama.” River grinned up at the werewolf queen, her bright blue eyes sparkling.
“How can it be 18 years since your birth already?” Alex sighed, shaking his head as he looked over at her birthday cake.
“I can’t believe she was our last one.” Ian mumbled, still sour over the fact that his mate didn’t want a fourth baby.
Why mess with perfection? Rohen, Rodrick, and River were the absolute light of their lives and they were perfect in every way. They were four years apart and the best of friends, and they had been since the day they were each born. Stella knew, in her heart, that River was their last baby and she knew better than to mess with fate.
“She’s still as ugly as the day she was born.” Rohen laughed, swiping his finger through River’s cake and then smearing it over her face.
“Rohen!” River shrieked, wiping off her face.
“Knock it off, Rohen.” Alex shook his head.
“Yeah, knock it off, Rohen.” Rodrick said in a mocking voice before taking a handful of cake and shoving it in Rohen’s face.
“Boys.” Stella glared at them and they both stopped immediately.
“Sorry, mama.” They mumbled in unison.
“Smart boys, more afraid of their mother than their fathers.” Ian chuckled, kissing his mate’s temple.
“Are you excited to get your wolf tonight, River?” Stella asked her and River nodded.
“I can feel her already. It’s like she’s bouncing in my mind.” River laughed.
“Yes, she’s excited to meet you.” Alex smiled, kissing the top of his daughter’s head.
River’s smile was wiped from her face then.
“What’s wrong, River?” Her mother was immediately on alert.
“Is it normal for your wolf to start howling before you meet her?” She asked in a dead voice.
“What?” Alex and Ian were beside their daughter in an instant.
“Is she saying something?” Ian asked.
“She’s….” River’s voice vanished, caught in her throat.
Her blue eyes were black and they knew for sure that her wolf was pushing forward. Something was terribly wrong.
“River?” Even Rohen sounded concerned.
He and Rodrick stumbled forward as if to guard their sister, but it was too late; there was nothing they could do. River’s eyes locked with Stella’s and it was like she knew what was going to happen even when the rest of them didn’t.
One second their daughter, the werewolf princess, was there, blowing out the candles on her 18th birthday cake, and then the next second she was gone, leaving behind nothing, but her faint scent and a breath of air.
Meanwhile, at the Emerald Forest pack….
*From “The Triplets of Emerald Forest”
“Remind me to kill your mother later.” Harlow grumbled as she looked at the ultrasound screen that showed the three little blobs that were our babies.
“Oh baby, it’ll be perfect.” Gabe chuckled, kissing the top of his mate’s head.
“Do you want to know the genders?” Dr. Mollie asked.
“Yes.” Harlow replied without wasting any time.
Honestly, she didn’t care what those three idiots wanted. They got her pregnant with triplet Alpha werewolf babies that she would have to push through a tiny hole in her body. She was finding out the damn sex.
Gabe, Godric, and Griffin chuckled at their mate before nodding to Dr. Mollie.
“Congratulations, Alphas, Luna, you’re having identical sons.”
“Oh have mercy.” She groaned, dropping her head back on the exam table.
“You’re measuring at about 7 months, so I’d say you have two more to go, Luna.” Dr. Mollie continued like Harlow hadn’t even spoken. She handed over the printouts of the ultrasound and left the room.
Before Harlow could even think about killing her husbands, she was knocked breathless with an overwhelming heat. She gasped and sat up as a fire consumed her veins; a fire she hadn’t felt since the day of their wedding and her Luna ceremony, the day that the rogues attacked her pack for the final time.
“Angel, what’s wrong?” Griffin was on high alert instantly.
“I don’t know.” Harlow gasped, breathing heavily because it felt like an elephant was sitting on her chest.
Her eyes started to burn and she knew they were glowing, something she had grown accustomed to since it happened anytime she felt emotional, showing off the firey embers that lived within her hazel orbs. Her hands started to shake and warm sparks shot from her fingertips. Before she could completely freak out, a voice invaded her head,
“Don’t worry, Harlow, it’s just me.” She recognized Selene’s voice.
“What’s happening?” She gasped.
“It’s time. The day I told you about five years ago has arrived. It’s time to free your brothers and sisters from the dragon realm.” As quickly as her voice came, it was gone.
“Precious, you’re scaring us.” Godric looked like he was about to have a full-on meltdown.
“It was Selene calling out to me.” Harlow said just as Waylon burst into the room.
“What the hell are you doing?” Godric snapped.
“I’m….I’m sorry but, you’ll never guess who’s in your office right now.” Waylon was actually breathless.
“Who?” Godric didn’t look amused.
“The freaking Kings and Queen of the werewolf realm.” Waylon said and Harlow swore that her mates’ hearts stopped beating.
“Say what now?” Gabe said with huge eyes.
“It’s the Moon Goddess. She said that they would call upon me for help and now she just spoke to me saying that the dragon realm needs me.” She said, jumping down from the medical bed.
“The dragon what?” Gabe turned his questions on me.
“The dragon realm. What? You have a werewolf realm.” Harlow was confused by his confusion.
“There isn’t a dragon realm. There aren’t dragons.” Gabe said with a dumbfounded expression.
Harlow held up her hand and a tiny flame burst from her palm as her eyes sparkled with fiery embers.
“I’m sorry, don’t set me on fire.” Gabe held up his hands in surrender and Harlow couldn’t help but laugh at him.
“Come on, we need to go see what they want.” She said, hurrying out the door.
“Harlow, you’re pregnant.” Godric grabbed Harlow’s arm and forced her to stop.
“Yeah, so?” Harlow bit at him.
“Give it a rest, Ric.” Griff put his hand on Godric’s shoulder and shook his head.
Harlow smirked smugly at the pair of them before skipping off, knowing damn well that she had them wrapped around her pinky finger.
They rushed to the office, but gathered themselves before walking in to greet the Kings and Queen of the werewolf realm. Harlow had never met a King or a Queen before so she was pretty excited. Inside Gabe’s office were two identical men dressed in handsome black suits and a gorgeous woman in a short, summery dress.
“King Alphas Sebastian and Alexander, Queen Luna Stella. Welcome to the Emerald Forest pack.” Gabriel greeted them with a bow of his head.
Harlow was shocked, she’d never seen her Alphas bow to anyone and now all three of them were showing submission to the royal werewolves. She joined them in a polite curtsey.
“Please, don’t stand on ceremony, Alphas, Luna.” King Sebastian said,
“We need your help. The Moon Goddess said that your Luna can help us. Please, Luna Harlow, we’re begging you, help us save our daughter,” Queen Luna Stella grabbed Harlow’s hand with tears in her eyes,
“She’s been taken to the dragon realm and you’re the only one who can set her free.”
