Chapter 70. Win or Lose?

Brock’s point of view:

It was Emily’s turn to win her battle now. I’m sure that she can manage it. Ursai alone intimidates most of the people here already, and then I’m not even talking about all her abilities. The knowledge about her abilities, spread like wildfire through the ears of the people throughout the days. By now, almost everyone knows how powerful she is, and by this event a lot of people get to know her character as well.

Her father didn’t even resist the idea of Arch and Emily. He just went along, and even wanted to participate as well. I was surprised by his enthusiasm, but he clearly wanted to spend some fun-time, just like his daughter.

I didn’t want to participate though, as I’m still the general of the King’s army, and I know that I’m pretty much the strongest warrior here. It’s not that I am cocky about it, it’s just that I don’t want to show my dominance during a competition. My warriors know what I am capable off, so there is no need to show off. I’ll show all of my force, towards the Orcs and Human rebels, when we reach the mountain. For now, I’m just watching Emily have fun, and that is the best part of my life. Seeing Emily smile.

“Don’t do that!” I suddenly heard her yell. Gone is that smile of hers.

“My apologies Princess, I just don’t want to hurt you.” The hunter in grey gear said.

“Hurt me? Have you seen my bear? It would be amazing if you even manage to shoot an arrow around him, to hit me! Just consider me as a challenge, and try to hit me with your best shot!” She yelled, again, with both a smile and an angry undertone.

I’m not sure if she was teasing him, or being angry at him. But clearly she didn’t like it, that he didn’t want to fight.

But the grey hunter, was still reluctant to battle with his Princess. So, I got a small idea and walked over to the hunter.

“General!” He said and bowed his head.

“She might be strong, but just like you and me, she snores in her sleep. And really loud too! So, why don’t you consider her to be a normal person, and accept her challenge.” His head came up, when I whispered that to him. He had this wicked wide grin on his face, and was ready to attack her, head on.

Emily frowned to me, but when she noticed the grey hunter making his stance, her smile flared up again.

The grey hunter’s hog came rushing in towards Emily, instead of towards Ursai. Smart action, as the hog can’t beat the strength of Ursai, so he went straight to the master. But he had to act quick, if he wanted to win this one. As my fierce fiancée wasn’t born yesterday, and she knows plenty of tactics to show him around.

The hog’s tusks, wanted to bore into her flesh, so to avoid that, she jumped onto Ursai’s back. She didn’t even have to put away her bow, she just launched off from the ground and even shot an arrow mid-air. She knew she was vulnerable when standing on her bear, not having his big body to shield her from incoming arrows. Hence, she kept on shooting her arrows in a rapid volley. Offense, is the best defence.

She balanced herself on Ursai’s back, while he kept slashing towards the hog. Even though he moved his head sideways, avoiding the hog’s tusks, she kept her balance. She warded off an arrow from the grey hunter by smashing it away with her bow, and continued her actions.

“Up!” She yelled at Ursai, when she stepped on his shoulders. She was launched off, into the air, when he pushed himself up, with his front paws. She took the last arrow from her quiver, got blue glowing eyes, and shot it at the grey hunter. A slight purple glow surrounded the arrow, for just a tiny moment, before it quickened its pace and hit the chest of the grey hunter.

“OUT! The Princess is the victor.” The referee yelled, and I smiled. I didn’t expect anything less.

She shook the grey hunter’s hand, and thanked him for the battle. Then, walked towards me with a frown on her face.

“What did you say to him? To make him want to battle me?”

“Just something embarrassing, nothing serious.” I said, shrugging it off. Not wanting to elaborate any further.

“You tried to embarrass me? That is only my job, towards you, big bad general. As per your words, you only have to ask for more sex love, no need to try to embarrass me.” She said with a deep voice, trying to imitate my own. I laughed out loud at her impersonation of me.

“Not now love, not now. I’ll only indulge your desires, if you win this competition, not before.”

“Oh! Well, that is a good way, to motivate me into winning.” She said to me, and I chuckled to her.

Suddenly we heard the crowd cheering and yelling, from the warrior’s circle. “King, King, King!” It drummed through the air. Emily ran over to her father, seeing him being pulled up, onto two pairs of shoulders.”

The King didn’t want to show anyone, but he was exhausted from his battle with one of my warriors. That same warrior, stood on the side line, arms crossed. He wasn't even panting or sweating, from his encounter with the King. I nodded to him thankfully, knowing, that he let his King win this battle.

I walked over to Dennis, who stood next to Anna. “You know, that you have to take over now right? You’re the one who trained him.” I said to Dennis.

“Yes, I was already prepared for that. But you are the one to break the bad news.” He said, and I sighed.

The crowd was still cheering, and I could see Emily a bit in distress. She knew, that her father had to fight the second battle as well. But when she looked into my eyes, and got a speck of red in her own, she smiled and relaxed her shoulders. She read my mind, and realized that I wasn’t going to let that happen.

“My King, I have some important news about the rebels. Please come with me.” I said a bit overly loud to him, so that the people around him could hear it as well. He understood what I was trying to say and sighed in relief.

“Dennis, take over from me please! Duty calls!” He said, and the crowd booed, but dispersed rather quickly, when I shared a glare their way.

I walked away with the King, and in the back I could hear Arch yell, to continue the competition.

“Thanks son, I didn’t know that you trained our warriors, to this extend. Could you please reward that warrior, to be trained into a royal guard? A man, who would gladly put aside his pride for his King, is a man worthy enough, to keep me and my daughter safe.” He said to me and I’m thankful of his words. I can only hope, to ever meet up with his wise decisions.

“Will do so, my King.”

“Aron. You are going to be my son in law, so please just call me Aron.” He said to me, when he patted my shoulder. I didn’t know what to say, I’m so used to calling him ‘my King’ all this time, that I’m not sure, if it is in my place to call him by his first name.

“BROCK!” Arch yelled, and the King and I both turned our heads.

Anna was shaking Emily at the shoulders, but she didn’t respond. Cirilya stood next to her also, yelling to Emily, wanting to wake her up as well. I ran to her as fast as I could, and when I got in front of her, I let out a loud gasp.

Her eyes turned purple!
