When she left

Chapter CHAPTER 46

When she left, He went crazy

Chapter 46 Being His Secretary?

It turned out it wasn’t my illusion, nor was it my misunderstanding.

Even my husband had started treating me as the third party in this relationship.

He questioned me about my relationship with Cecil and instructed me to hide behind the door, refusing to let me out.

It was absolutely ridiculous.

“It’s not what you think,” Christopher said, reaching out to touch my shoulder. I instinctively stepped back, looking at him awkwardly. I didn’t want to cry, yet a tear rolled down my cheek as I said, “Don’t touch me.”

‘Don’t touch me.

All that was left in my mind was this one thought.

“Hope, don’t overthink it. I just don’t want to…”

The expected knock on the door interrupted his words.

Evelyn caused a scene in every compartment and insisted on finding Christopher but caught me. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have taken so long to find our compartment.

“Wait for me at home; I will explain everything to you,” Christopher said before he walked out the door.

When I came to my senses again, the door had already been forced open. The door was locked with great force, making it impossible to get out from the inside or push it open from the outside.

Not only did I want to go out, but people outside also wanted to come in.

“Why are you stopping me? I won’t do anything! Chris, have you fallen for her? Is this how you…”

“Evelyn!” Christopher barked, cutting off her voice sharply. I’ll ask you one more time: are you leaving or not?”

“I’m leaving; why are you being so mean?” Evelyn muttered.

Soon, the noise outside the door disappeared.

Leaning against the door panel to calm down, he slowly opened the door and walked out.

Unexpectedly, the protagonist left, but the onlookers had not dispersed yet.

It seemed like they all wanted to know what kind of person a “mistress” was,

I would like to tell myself to have a clear conscience, but the scornful, contemptuous eyes of others made me feel very uncomfortable.

The more this happened, the straighter I stood, telling myself over and over again. “This is nothing.”

When my parents passed away, and our family went bankrupt, I even felt how hard the soles of their shoes were against my face when people blocked our door demanding debt repayment.

1 said my parents had passed away, but they didn’t believe me. They locked me in a small, dark room for two days and

two nights.

It wasn’t until the police came that I saw the bright again.

The current scene was nothing compared to what it used to be.

I just suddenly felt a bit resentful.

I hated Christopher for his ruthlessness, partiality, and false promise to marry me despite his inability to love me.

The door of Elissa’s compartment suddenly opened. Cecil, looking a bit anxious, spotted me and strode over, asking, “Didn’t you go with Christopher?”

“No,” I replied softly.

Cecil mused; he may have heard the noise just outside but did not mention it, only asking, “Do you want to go in to play for a while?”

I could tell it was very lively inside.

It seemed that Ivan intentionally teamed up with Elissa to win the game while the other few people cursed at them.

Fortunately, everyone wasn’t short of a few bucks, so they enjoyed watching Ivan come up with ways to pursue the girl.

I shook my head. “You guys have fun. I’m heading back first. Can you help me tell Elissa?”

I was really not in the mood, and going in there would just spoil their mood.

“I was just about to leave as well. He glanced at his watch and said naturally, “I’ll walk you out.”

Okay.

felt exhausted and wanted to get back to a place where I could relax as quickly as possible.

I got into Cecil’s car and then took out my phone to message Elissa.

Hope: [Elissa, can I continue staying at your house for a while?]

Before Christopher moved out, I didn’t want to go back to Riverside Garden.

I didn’t forget the sentence he said to me just before he left. “You go home and wait for me.”

But why was I always standing there waiting for him?

Elissa: Of course. I heard you had just left with Christopher. What happened? Did he bully you again?]

She sent an angry emoji.

Before I could reply, she called me. I hung up directly and texted her back.

Hope: Im fine; I’m in the car. I’ll talk to you when you get back.

Along the way, Cecil sensed my low spirits, allowing me to stay silent without deliberately starting a conversation,

giving me plenty of space to clear my mind.

Before getting out of the car, I unbuckled the seatbelt and said, “Cecil, don’t mind what he said today.”

He gently pressed the brake all the way down, chuckling, “It’s okay, I’m very happy.”

“Why?” I was puzzled.

Cecil looked at me and teased. “Haven’t you noticed? You didn’t say thank you to me today.”

I said, “But, indeed, I should say this phrase to you today.”

“I am not prompting you to express gratitude, he interjected with a smile before continuing. Among friends, where is the need for so much politeness?”

I returned his smile, saying, “Should you require any assistance, do not hesitate to seek me out. I’ll go up first”

“Okay,” he nodded, waiting for me to enter the house. Then I heard the sound of the car driving away.

I returned to Elissa’s house, not even wanting to turn on the lights. Bathing in the dim moonlight, I took a shower in the bathroom and then got ready for bed.

My body felt extremely exhausted. But when I lay down on the bed, my mind was surprisingly alert.

In the past, I only thought my marriage was a failure, but after tonight, I even felt it was unfortunate.

Unexpectedly, Elissa refrained from referencing Christopher’s name for two days, a behavior starkly uncharacteristic of

her usual self.

That morning, seeing that she was feeling much better, I finished breakfast and got ready to head to the office.

She suddenly asked nervously, “Hope, where are you going? To the office?”

“Yes. Is there anything you need to call me?”

“Don’t go. Just stay with me for two more days.”

“What’s wrong? I instinctively felt that something was off.

Elissa’s gaze was somewhat unfocused as she said, “No, I just can’t bear to part with you.”

Her Whats App rang abruptly, and upon reading the message, she swiftly transitioned into a state of intense anger and Jury.

I paused and asked, “What’s wrong? Did someone upset you? Or did something happen at work?”

Although she had been on sick leave at home these days, the phone had been ringing constantly, and WhatsApp had also been buzzing non-stop.

She was still very busy with work.

“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. Since you’re not allowed to go to the office anyway, just stay at home and keep me company.

She pushed me into the room. “You go work on your design draft; I’ll call you.”

Elissa gently closed the door, but not half a minute later, the balcony echoed with Elissa’s roar.

The voice was faint; I couldn’t hear it very clearly.

Elissa, however, did not know that as long as I pushed open the window of her master bedroom, I could hear the sounds from the balcony very clearly.

“What kind of man are you? Damn, trying to advise me at a time like this. Shouldn’t you be cursing your stupid friend?”

“There are a lot of rumors circulating around the company. He felt sorry for Evelyn and transferred her to the president’s office to be his secretary just because of a few remarks. Where does he place his wife?”

“Isn’t he clearly backing Evelyn up? Hasn’t he thought about the consequences? Now people are saying that Mr. Valence has made a statement indicating that Evelyn is his wife!”

“Hope has been married to him three years, only to have her identity replaced by another woman? In Chris’ eyes, this marriage and Hope’s feelings meant nothing!”
