When fate plays its hand

Chapter 0435

“Woah…”

A collective gasp filled the large classroom.

“Paul Jefferson? Is it the Paul Jefferson I’m thinking of?

“Uh! How many Paul Jeffersons are there at Bedford College?”

“Well, okay.”

“Oh my God! He’s the one teaching us? He’s so tall and handsome!”

Everyone was captivated by the sight. People are naturally drawn to beautiful things, appreciating and admiring them.

Madison was no exception, but the more she looked at the professor, the more familiar he seemed…

“Wait a second, Miranda, isn’t that the guy who stopped you outside the cafeteria the other day?”

“Mm–hmm.”

“No way–he’s Paul Jefferson?”

Miranda seemed puzzled. “You didn’t recognize him? He was one of the interviewers during the graduate admissions.”

“Huh?” Madison scratched her head. “He wasn’t there when I was interviewed. The only professor I recognized was Sophie.”

‘That’s strange… When I had my interview, Sophie wasn’t there. Were you interviewed in the morning or afternoon?”

“Afternoon,” Madison replied.

“Well, that explains it. I was interviewed in the morning.

“Oh…”

Miranda suddenly paused, a thought crossing her mind. If she remembered correctly, Tina had also been. Interviewed in the afternoon and had even asked her about the interview questions.

It was odd that Sophie wasn’t present in the morning but was in the afternoon.

Coupled with the recent news of Sophie’s team purchasing a new CPRT measurement device, Tina’s reason for being recruited by Sophie became quite obvious.

Ah… So, she was the walking ATM.

On the platform, Paul finished his brief self–introduction and prepared to begin the lesson.

He wore a light gray shirt that day, with a pair of gold–rimmed glasses perched on his nose. The glasses softened his gaze, giving him an air of gentleness.

Just standing there, his whole demeanor radiated elegance.

*Dr. Jefferson, may I ask you a question?” Suddenly, a student from the audience raised their hand.

Paul replied, “Sure.”

“You’re quite famous and accomplished, Dr. Jefferson, the student began with flattery. “But since you’re from the Physics Department, are you qualified to teach us Bioinformatics?”

Paul responded calmly, “First, thank you for the compliment. I originally came from the Faculty of Bioinformatics but switched to Physics later on.

“Before the administration assigns substitute professors, they conduct evaluations to ensure the professor is competent. So, you don’t need to worry about my expertise–I assure you, I’m qualified.”

His final remark made the whole class laugh. Even Miranda couldn’t help but smile.

Paul continued, “Second, as graduate students, your focus should be on developing research thinking and logical reasoning, rather than simply absorbing knowledge.

“This is a crucial step in your academic journey–learning to approach problems from a research. perspective, rather than just relying on teachers to spoon–feed you information.

“In that sense, the approach to thinking transcends disciplines, whether it’s Physics, Biology, or another field. And that’s the most important thing I can teach you…

“Dr. Jefferson! I have another question–are you single?”

It seemed every young and attractive professor faced this inevitable question.

Paul glanced at the student who asked and replied mildly. “Too many questions will delay the class. We’ll discuss that later.

“Today, let’s cover the role and significance of big data in the development of Bioinformatics, and the relationship between the two…”

The class flew by.

Paul didn’t finish his lecture, but as soon as the bell rang, he neatly closed his book. “Class dismissed.”

Then, after gathering his things, he left without hesitation.

“Wow–he’s so cool!” Madison exclaimed.

Miranda quickly stood up and grabbed her bag. “Madi, I’ve got something to do. I won’t be joining you for lunch today.”
