“You’re busy writing your thesis, aren’t you? Won’t we be a distraction if we come over?” Lionel asked

“No, the theses are already finished and submitted. I’ve been free recently,” replied Miranda.

“But it’s the hottest time of the year, with heat warnings all over the country. Is it really a good time to go. sightseeing now?”

Mindy, who was listening on the side, couldn’t hold back anymore. “Don’t listen to your dad. He practically has the words “1 want to go” written all over his face.”

Lionel cleared his throat, “I never said I didn’t want to go.”

Miranda laughed, “Alright then! I’ll book the bullet train tickets for you now.”

After hanging up, she immediately opened the ticketing app and booked two businessclass seats.

On their end, Lionel and Mindy received the ticket confirmation from their daughter and realized the tickets were for tomorrow! They quickly started packing.

“That brat truly likes to rush things… And why book business class for just a few hours‘ ride? Isn’t that a waste of money?” Lionel muttered as he packed.

Mindy, however, had a different view. “Our daughter just wants to see us as soon as possible. A few hours is still time spent traveling. Sitting in regular seats would leave us with aching backs.

“Miranda is being thoughtful and wants to make sure we’re comfortable on the way. She spent her own money to book us the best seats, and you’re complaining? Don’t be so ungrateful.

Lionel clicked his tongue, “Look at you! I say one thing, and you start nagging me! Besides, I wasn’t complaining. I just wanted to save her a bit of money..

“If you want to save money, you save it for yourself. Don’t drag me into it. There’s a saying you know, about being thrifty at home, but generous when traveling

“Sure, it’s fine to save when we’re at home, but when it comes to traveling, don’t always be thinking about saving money.

“If we’re going on a trip, we should enjoy ourselves and be comfortable, right?”

“Yes, yes, dear, you’re absolutely right!” Lionel stood up straight and nodded, pretending to be obedient with a grin.

As they packed, Mindy made sure to bring along all the essentials and necessities, including a few beautiful dresses and changes of clothes.

Meanwhile, Lionel was thinking about the vegetables he had grown without using any pesticides. They were fresh, green, and perfect for his daughter. He couldn’t help but pack some up to bring along

-Mindy watched in disbelief as he even tried to stuff freshly dug–up potatoes into the suitcase. “That’s

enough. If you bring all this, they’ll spoil on the way,” she said in exasperation.

“And, can you even carry such a heavy suitcase?” Mindy folded her arms with her eyes full of doubt.
