Chapter 532 What Else Does He Want
Lewis' lips curled into a cold, scornful smile. "Now I know why he chose to support Kiran and remove me from Alvarez Corp." Nancy's expression stiffened. They both knew who Lewis meant.
Nancy forced a smile. "You're overthinking things again. Who gave you this? It must be someone with ill intentions, gosh!"
She picked up the document from the table and tore it to shreds without a second thought. It happened to be a paternity test, the one conducted seven years ago. It was Lewis and Robert's paternity test. Lewis allowed her to destroy it. However, before long, Conrad arrived, accompanied by an elderly in his sixties.
"Chairman Alvarez, Mr. Lawson is here."
Nancy's face turned even more grim when she saw Mr. Lawson. She glanced at Lewis. "Lewis, you ...'
Lewis leaned back on the sofa and gazed at her indifferently. "Don't you recognize him?"
Nancy choked on her words.
"You've been visiting the hospital frequently recently to find this, right?"
"
"How did you know?" Nancy blurted out unconsciously, then immediately regretted it. She seemed to be caught in a dilemma.
Mr. Lawson stepped forward. "Mrs. Alvarez, may I know if you have any questions?"
Lewis continued, "She claimed this paternity test is fake, Mr. Lawson. Here is a copy with your authentic signature. Can you confirm its authenticity?"
Although Nancy had torn up one copy, Conrad had another. He retrieved it from his pocket and handed it to Mr. Lawson.
Mr. Lawson examined the document and nodded. "This is real."
"At that time, Master Robert approached me and requested a paternity test. He specifically asked for strict confidentiality. Even the personnel involved in the test left their positions due to this incident." Nancy's forehead was covered in cold sweat. She nervously defended herself. "Lewis, Robert is already gone. Why are you digging up the past now? Besides, he treated you well all these years. "When your grandfather wanted you to join the company, Robert supported his decision. Besides, you entered the company after this paternity test was carried out. If he truly cared about blood relations, wouldn't he have done it differently from the start?"
Lewis chuckled. "Would he dare to speak the truth? He brought me back and personally announced my identity to everyone. Do you think he would dare to admit it?"
Nancy was left speechless. She couldn't find words to counter his argument.
Robert was the one who brought him back and invested years in raising him. He couldn't openly admit his mistake even when he later discovered that Lewis wasn't his biological son. Therefore, he resorted to plotting behind the scenes. He tried various means to push Lewis out of the company.
Lewis sensed his intentions back then. There was a silent power struggle between the father and son. Although it didn't escalate significantly, many of Robert's supporters left the company. There had to be a new heir to get Lewis out. So Robert thought of his other son, Kiran.
Nancy said, "It's all in the past now. Regardless of what he did, he's no longer in this world, and you've gained control of Alvarez Corp. Why dwell on these matters?"
Lewis looked at her coldly and asked, "Is everything really over?"
Nancy countered, "What do you think?"
Lewis continued, "I noticed you had strong opinions about the distribution of the inheritance before this. Were you dissatisfied with your share, or did you want to secure it for Daphne?" "You're talking nonsense! I've never said anything like that." Flustered, Nancy almost jumped up from the sofa.
Lewis had an exhausted expression. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened his eyes again, a chilling determination filled them.
He stared at Nancy and asked, "Do you have anything else to say?"
"What else can I say? You're all grown up now and no longer want to acknowledge me as your mother. You have all the reasons you need. What more can I say?"
Lewis smiled and turned to Conrad. "Conrad, is the result out?"
Conrad checked the time and said, "It should be ready. Let me make a call to confirm."
He walked outside to make the call.
Seeing this, Nancy became increasingly anxious. She knew that whatever results Conrad was referring to might not be favorable for her.
In less than five minutes, Conrad returned. "Chairman Alvarez, the results are out. Mr. Harrison will be here shortly."
"Lewis, what is all this about?" Nancy asked tentatively, "What results are you talking about?"
"You'll find out soon."
Nancy's face turned pale. She couldn't fathom Lewis's intentions. Whether he was Robert's biological son or not, he had already inherited Alvarez Corp. Concealing the truth seemed to be in his best interest. Why would he want to reveal his identity to the world?
She thought he must be mad!
Ten minutes later, Mr. Harrison arrived, along with Sierra and Sophia.
Sierra was in a wheelchair while her adoptive parents pushed her. On the other hand, Sophia was still processing the fact that she wasn't Hannah's daughter. She wore a numb expression. She had no idea why Lewis had summoned her here.
Conrad glanced back and asked Sophia, "Ms. King, where is Ms. Yale?"
Still in a daze from the recent revelation, Sophia looked at Conrad and replied after a few seconds, "I don't know."
Holding a document folder, Mr. Lawson walked up to Lewis and handed the folder to him.
Lewis took the documents and read through them.
The living room fell into an eerie
silence, with only the sound of paper
rustling as Lewis went through the documents. Everyone's attention was on him. They dared not even breathe too loudly.
Two minutes later, Lewis tossed the documents onto the table. The voice was not loud, but it pierced everyone's ears.
Sierra signaled to her adoptive mother to wheel her closer. "Lewis, why did you summon me here?"
Lewis glanced at her. "Aren't you searching for your biological parents?"
"Yes," Sierra replied. Her heart raced as she looked at Lewis. She couldn't help but cast a questioning glance at Nancy. "What do you mean?" "See for yourself."
Sierra took a deep breath and picked up the scattered papers from the table. The first page was her and Nancy's DNA test.
Her eyes quickly landed on the result. It read 99.9%.
Her eyes widened, and she flipped to the next page. It was Nancy and Sophia's test. The result also read 99.9%.
"This... this..." Sierra was flustered. She didn't know who to look at.
She scanned the room and then locked her gaze on Lewis. "Is this true?"
Lewis stared at Nancy coldly. "You can ask her."
Sierra turned her gaze to Nancy and extended the test report to her with trembling hands. "Is this true?"
