Chapter 38
Chapter 38: Mary.
I couldn’t believe that I had been so naive and so judgmental. Would Nevaeh ever forgive me? She’s my absolute best friend and
I assumed the worst of her, when she’s never done anything but shown me love and care.
“Nevaeh, I have no words that can excuse my behavior. I let my jealousy poison my thoughts and I assumed the worst of you. I
am so incredibly sorry for the way I’ve been treating you. I don’t deserve your forgiveness, and whether you choose to forgive me
or not, I will work everyday to show you that I can change and that I can be more deserving of your friendship.”
“Mary, I’ve already forgiven you. You’re the only friend I have here, and I would hate for anything to get in the way of that. Just
promise me, that if anything is ever bothering you, that’ll you come to me first.”
“I promise Nevaeh.” I responded, tears filling my eyes as I walked over to my best friend and wrapped her in my arms, knowing
that if she was anyone else I would’ve lost her.
“Now let’s get you ready for your coronation, and stop crying, you can’t be all puffy eyed in front of the kingdom.” Nevaeh
chastised me as she relinquished herself from my hold and walked over to Nikolai’s closet.
Tucked into the furthest section of Nikolai’s closet was a rack of dresses that I had never seen before.
“Nikolai had these dresses custom made for today. He wasn’t sure which color you’d like the most, so he choose a few of the
colors he liked best on you.” Nevaeh replied as she rolled out a rack full of dresses.
They were all absolutely stunning and I couldn’t believe Nikolai had had them all custom designed for
e was one dress in particular that stood out to me. It was a beautiful jade color. The design of the dress reminded me of a story
book ball gown, it had a beautiful sweetheart neckline, the bodice was embroidered with silver string, that flared down towards
my waist. The dress was strapless and the top appeared to be form fitting, while the bottom flared out into a ballgown skirt with
pickups leading to a beautiful train. It looked regal and like the perfect dress for the coronation of a Queen.
“I want to try the jade one on.” I tell Nevaeh.
“That would have been my first choice too.” Nevaeh smiled, taking the jade dress of the rack, while I stripped off my clothing,
“You’ll have to go bra less, but the bodice has built in support.”
Nevaeh helped me step into the dress and then tied the corset back, before taking a step back as we admired the beauty of the
dress.
“That dress is perfect, you look absolutely stunning.” Nevaeh stated a large smile on her face.
“I feel like a princess.” I said smiling back at her.
“And after I am done with your hair and make up you’ll look like a Queen.” Nevaeh replied as she
stepped forward and undid the corset straps before helping me out of the dress.
She had me take a seat at Nikolai’s desk as she got to work on my unruly curly hair. Nevaeh gently combed my hair, before she
braided it and put it into an updo, letting a few strands of hair fall forward to frame my face.
“Oh before I forget, here a gift from Nikolai.” Nevaeh smiled handing me over a rather large jewelry box.
I gasped when I opened the box, inside was a pair of beautiful blood red ruby earrings with golden outline with a matching
necklace teardrop necklace to go with it.
“This will be perfect with the dress,” Nevaeh smiled, as she put the earrings into my ears and clasped the necklace on my neck,
“Nikolai said they were a family heirloom and he couldn’t wait to see them against your beautiful porcelain skin.”
“Why didn’t Nikolai just give these to me himself?” I asked a look of confusion on my face.
“From what Kade told me, is that it is traditional for the King to leave his future Queen a gift on her coronation day. He said
something about if he gave the gift directly to you that it was a bad omen, and that a gift needed to be left. Or something like that.
Vampire traditions are strange and they hardly make any sense.” Nevaeh babbled on as she did my makeup, lining my eyes with
a heavily to make their green color pop, putting a pale beach rouge on my cheeks, and a red lipstick that matched my rubies
perfectly, “There not to subtle but not overdone either.” Nevaeh stated as she finished her work.
“Wow, I look amazing, thank you Nevaeh.”
“No worries babe, I had a perfect foundation to begin with, I just added some enhancements to your features.” Nevaeh replied a
small blush appearing on her face at might compliment.
“What will you be wearing tonight?” I ask her as I go to sit on the bed, as we still had about an hour before the coronation started.
“Probably one of the dresses that I got from the marketplace. I have a pretty blue one. It’s not exactly formal but it’ll do.” Nevaeh
said shrugging her shoulders.
“Absolutely not. You’re my second in command. Pick one of these dresses we are close to the same size, I’m sure which ever
one you pick it’ll fit you perfectly.” I state.
“Do Queen’s even have seconds in commands?” Neveah asks, “And honey, have you seen your breasts, they’re easily double
the size of mine.”
“Well if they don’t, then they will now. I cant think of anyone else I would rather have on my side. And maybe with a higher rank,
Kade will decide to make you more than just his blood slave.” I say throwing a wink at her as I attempt to play matchmaker, “And
adjusting the breasts will be easy, especially if you choose on of the corset ones. Might I suggest the lilac dress. I think the style
will look amazing on your body and the color will make your skin look even more radiant.”
“Are you sure about this Mary?” Nevaeh asks nervously, “I don’t want to overstep.”
“Absolutely!” I say confidently, “By order of the future Queen, I demand that you wear one of these dresses.” I say playfully.
“Why of course your highness,” Nevaeh jokes as she dips into a curtsy before pulling the lilac dress off the rack. It’s a beautiful of
the shoulder mermaid style dress that’s made out of silk, with a sheer lace over skirt that makes the lilac color of the dress
sparkle. Nevaeh slipped the dress on and I quickly tighten the corset back. The dress looked absolutely amazing and like it was
made for her.
Keeping the dress on, Nevaeh walks over to Nikolai’s desk, grabbing her makeup bag before running off into the bathroom. Not
even ten minutes later she walks out look like one of the women off the old magazines. She had left her hair down and had
added conditioner to smooth out her natural colors. She’d applied lilac shimmer powder on her eyes and used a bit of mascara
leaving the rest of her face
bare.
“Wow.” I respond at the sight of her, “I was definitely right that dress was made for you. Let’s go to the Queen’s quarters and grab
some matching heels.”
“First let’s get you in your dress. The ceremony will be starting soon.” Nevaeh responds grabbing my dress and helping me into it
once more before we rush off to my room to grab our shoes. Nevaeh picks out a pair of white pumps and I choose my red high
heels. We twirl in front of my full length mirror and admire our beauty, before there’s a light knock on the door signaling it was
time for the ceremony.
