The Road to Rebirth Her Fresh Start and His Late Sorrow

Chapter 188

Cyrus felt Sarah's fingers grip his wrist, and when he looked down, he saw her sad face. "Cyrus, didn't we promise to explore every corner of the amusement park together?"

"What are you talking about? Did you really think I came here just to have fun with you?" Cyrus retorted, his tone icy, his mind entirely preoccupied with thoughts of Nancy.

He swiftly shook off Sarah's hand. "Go enjoy the rides if you want, or head home if you don't."

Sarah's face drained of color at his words. Watching Cyrus head toward Nancy, her eyes burned with resentment.

Nancy, that wretched girl. Sarah had finally gotten a chance to be alone with Cyrus, and Nancy just had to intrude. Lucy was right; Nancy was nothing but a man-stealing witch!

Sarah's eyes flashed with anger. She would make Nancy pay, sooner or later.

The queue for the roller coaster was surprisingly short. Nancy and Judson quickly grabbed their seats, but the next thing they knew, Cyrus had plopped down right next to Nancy.

Nancy's brow furrowed instantly, and even Judson looked displeased.

"Nancy, want to switch seats with me?"

Before Nancy could respond, the roller coaster jolted forward, starting its ascent.

"Too late now, just stay put," Cyrus said with an amused smirk.

Nancy's expression soured, instinctively shifting closer to Judson.

Cyrus noticed this and felt a pang of hurt. "Nancy, do you really have to treat me like this?"

But before he could go on, Nancy cut him off with a cold glare. "Your date's waiting for you down there, Cyrus. Don't fake affection for my sake; it's sickening."

Cyrus paused, speechless.

Without time to process, the roller coaster took off with a sudden rush, diving into a dizzying ninety-degree spin.

Cyrus' breath hitched, his heart clenching with fear. He reached for Nancy's hand on the safety bar. "Nancy, I think my fear of heights is kicking in..."

"Ahhh! Nancy, it's so high! I'm scared!" Judson leaned forward, burying his head in Nancy's shoulder. Feeling Judson's trembling, Nancy quickly wrapped an arm around him. "Don't worry, just close your eyes if you're scared."

Cyrus was taken aback, watching Nancy comfort Judson. His heart ached. "Nancy, do you really not care about me anymore?"

His words, tinged with desperation and sadness, sounded like a child who lost his favorite toy.

Nancy hesitated, her gaze falling on Cyrus. She saw the suppressed emotions on his face, his eyes red- rimmed with unshed tears.

It was odd; there was a time when she would have felt a twinge of sympathy, but now, she felt nothing at all.

Her lips curved into a cool smile. "Cyrus, why would you ride this if you're afraid of heights? It's just foolish, and it's not like you."

Cyrus had no response.

Her detached gaze made his heart sink.

Did Nancy really not care about him anymore?

No, he couldn't accept that.

Five minutes later, the ride ended.

Sarah rushed over to Cyrus, who was visibly pale. Seeing Nancy and Judson still close together, she snapped.

"Nancy, do you even have a heart? You know Cyrus is afraid of heights, and he only went on the roller coaster for you!"
