Chapter 97
Chapter 97

“Mr. Holmes, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I couldn’t make it to this event because of some unexpected circumstances.”
Sabrina apologized profusely as she stood before Gordon with her head hung low. She looked flustered, like a child who had done something wrong.
I examined her closely and saw that she wore a baggy white shirt over a striped spaghetti – strap top and denim shorts. Her hair was in a ponytail, and she wore white sneakers. Her hair looked slightly messy, and the makeup on her face was patchy. She looked like a mess, as if she had just returned from a trip.
Based on my previous judgment of Sabrina, she should’ve greatly treasured this opportunity.
She wouldn’t have made a mistake like this.
What had happened to her?
Were even the heavens helping me?
I was wondering about this when Gordon said coldly, “Where were you? You should’ve
known
how important this was to Holmes Group.”
Sabrina mustered the courage to look up. She gazed tearfully at Gordon, and the look of remorse in her eyes would make anyone’s heart soften.
“I know. I’m really sorry, Gordie. I was getting ready last night, but my boyfriend suddenly called and told me he was in Linville. He said he was ill, so I rushed there overnight, but he
lied. He wasn’t sick at all, and he even locked me up and confiscated my phone. I had difficulty getting back here, but I was still too late. I’m truly very sorry,” Sabrina explained.
Then she covered her face with her hands and began crying bitterly as if she had suffered a
great wrong.
Nathan had lied to her and locked her up? He’d taken away her phone?
That didn’t seem possible.
First of all, Nathan studied law. Even if he hadn’t, he was the type of person who would give way to Sabrina in everything and coax her out of every mood. He would never do something like this.
I sensed something amiss.

However, Sabrina was crying so piteously that she seemed like a butterfly caught in a storm. She was trembling all over
Gordon’s eyes softened, and he patted her on the shoulder.
“It’s alright. Fortunately, my wife managed to have her friend salvage the situation, and there were no consequences. Did your boyfriend hurt you? Why did he lock you up?”
Why was Gordon so lenient to her? Had he just forgiven her that easily?
“I don’t know the reason for his actions. He said it was because he was afraid of losing me. I’m really sorry, Gordie. I guarantee that nothing like this will ever happen again.”
Sabrina stopped crying and looked hopefully at Gordon like an innocent, injured deer.
“You’d better focus on your work at the planning department. I’ve instructed Hannah to give you more opportunities to gain experience. As for the flowers, I have a more suitable person in mind.”
Gordon hadn’t rebuked her, but any collaborator who made a mistake would never be able to collaborate with him again. There was no exception.
Sabrina’s eyes dimmed at once when she heard what he said. She opened her mouth to say something, but she knew she was wrong, so she said nothing and left disconsolately.
“Selena, drop by our purchasing department with a contract tomorrow. The floral arrangements received unanimous praise from the VIPS. I should always let the professionals do the job. I trust you.”
I didn’t know if Gordon was rewarding me or if he sincerely approved of the skills of Selena’s team. He had readily agreed to sign a contract with Selena.
I had never expected that this would be the outcome.
I expected Sabrina would win this time, but who would’ve thought she would make such a colossal mistake at the first event?
