Chapter 96

It was just that I had no idea what our future would be like. It was hard to tell if Gordon and Sabrina would still end up together.

I would have been content if he had been able to treat me this way in the past.

I would have been willing to live like an ostrich and bury my head in the sand to block out the world’s noise. As long as he stayed beside me and treated me with gentleness, I would have willingly lost myself in it.

But now, I was no longer content with being an ostrich. I wanted to be a wild swan who could spread my wings and fly off in search of someone who was truly willing to soar with me. I wanted to find the kind of man who wished to be with me wholeheartedly.

I knew that Gordon wasn’t that man.

“That isn’t important anymore. I’ll break up with him when the right moment arrives,” I said firmly.

Selena was startled. Then she patted me on the shoulder.

“I’m just worried that you’ll fall right in again if he starts treating you well. You might become just as entranced as before. You refused to listen to us no matter what we said.”

I had been too besotted with him in the past. That was why even my best friends could not believe I could walk away from his charisma.

I won’t do that now.”

I shook my head and resolved once again to leave Gordon.

Selena did not want to say anything else on the subject.

All she said was, “No matter what decision you make in the end, I’ll support it as long as you’re happy.”

I looked up at Selena. I thought about how she had bared her heart to me in the last

moments of my previous life, and my eyes reddened.

She didn’t know my thoughts, so she simply thought I was becoming emotional. She quickly grabbed a tissue for me to wipe away my tears.

“What’s up with you? I’ve never seen you be moved so easily,” she said.

That was true. In the past, I didn’t understand feelings. I took everyone who treated me well

for granted, and often, I only realized how precious these people were when I was in a place of despair.

I couldn’t help chuckling as I looked at her. I was at a loss for words.

“There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

Gordon’s low, deep voice resonated from the door to the cafe.

I hurriedly gathered myself and got up.

I asked, “What’s the matter? Do you need me for something?”

“The discussion this morning went very well, and now we’re arranging for them to have lunch and a quick rest. Thank you for your hard work today.”

Gordon looked excited to see me. He strode toward me and took my hand right in Selena’s plain view.

A sincere light shone in his eyes, and I knew he genuinely approved of my work today,

“It wasn’t hard. As long as you’re happy with it, then I’m happy. Just treat my friend well in the future,” I said, smiling.

Gordon only just seemed to realize that Selena was also present. He released looked at her, and then gave her a rare smile.

my hand,

“Thank you for rescuing us today, Selena. You can settle the bill with our purchasing department, and we’ll pay any price you name.”

“Mr. Holmes, I was merely helping out my best friend today. As long as I don’t make a loss, I’ll accept it. However, will Holmes Group consider working with me for any future work involving flowers?”

Selena stood up. As a businesswoman, she wouldn’t let go of such a good opportunity.

Gordon was about to speak when someone rushed anxiously into the cafe and skidded to a stop before him.
