The Charming Ex-Wife

Chapter 717

Chapter 717 Take You Home
Lysander sat in the chair, gripping the armrests on either side of her. After she escaped the confines of the ropes, this was the
only thing she could hold onto.
If the people outside were there for her, she would immediately find a way to make a commotion.
It was clear that the ten million was out of reach. Upon realizing this, the thugs were likely to revert back to Tiffany’s side, putting
her in danger once again.
When he heard someone was approaching, the leader’s first instinct was to flee. However, the thought of the money he hadn’t
yet secured kept him from panicking entirely. Composing himself, he turned to his subordinates and instructed, “Take this woman
along!”
As soon as he said that, Lysander stood up, picked up the chair, and hurled it toward him.
The leader hadn’t expected that this cooperative hostage would suddenly fight back. He was caught off guard and knocked to
the ground on the spot.
Lysander turned and ran, heading straight for the staircase furthest from the thugs.
After the thug responsible for keeping watch had left, there was no one left upstairs.
From her observations, she noticed that there was another staircase on the second floor leading outside.
The thugs were completely taken aback by this sudden turn of events. Some of them scrambled to help their leader, while
others, a bit more astute, knew that if Lysander managed to escape, none of them would get away. They quickly chased after
her.
In the midst of the chaos, the warehouse door was abruptly kicked open from the outside.
Upon discovering that the lock hanging on the door was not tightly fastened, merely loosely latched, Josiah knew he was on the
right track. When he heard the chaotic noise emanating from within, he couldn’t even be bothered to wait for the time it would
take to pick the lock and open the door. He simply barged in with brute force.
In an instant, the sunlight from outside illuminated the dimly lit warehouse.

Having already escaped to the second floor, Lysander merely lowered her head and unexpectedly came face to face with Josiah.
The sudden encounter caused both their hearts to tighten, as they hadn’t anticipated meeting in such a tense moment.
When the leader had taken on this job from Tiffany, he had seen a picture of Josiah. Immediately, he cried out, “He’s Josiah
Guerra. If he gets out alive, we’re all finished!”
The thugs thought about the money they had just received. They didn’t want to earn money only to die without spending it. So,
for the moment, they didn’t care about the possible danger. They quickly shifted their focus and rushed toward Josiah,
surrounding him.
From her vantage point, Lysander clearly saw his state at that moment.
Josiah was in a state of complete disarray. His coat was nowhere to be found, and his light–colored shirt was
erly unkempt. The collar of his shirt, liberated from the constraint of a tie, was flipped up on one side. Upon closer inspection,
there were traces of blood on it. It was the blood fro
As for the wound that was wrapped in gauze, it had already split open during his relentless running, continuously seeping blood.
The urgent care provided by the family doctor had some effect on controlling the wound, but it couldn’t stop him from seeing
finding Lysander as the most important thing at that moment. If it weren’t for the stitches done in advance, he might have
worsened his injury by now.
Lysander’s eyes suddenly welled up with tears, expressing both worry and guilt as she asked, “Are you alone?”
“Yeah, I didn’t have time to wait for others, so I came here by myself first.”
Lysander anxiously said, “But there are so many of them. What can you possibly do by yourself?”
Are you marching to your doom all alone?
Josiah remained stoic. “I’m here to take you home.”
He scrutinized her meticulously, noting that aside from the dust she had rubbed onto herself, she was unharmed. Only then did
he shift his icy gaze toward the approaching thugs.
Perhaps it was due to her underestimation of Lysander that Tiffany had only arranged for a group of average thugs to guard her.
However, they did have the advantage in numbers. If he wanted to take Lysander away without a single hair on her head

harmed, it would likely still require some effort.
“I’m offering you two choices. Take the money you already have and leave. I won’t hold past grudges. Alternatively, you can take
a risk and try your luck. But remember, as long as I’m still here, you won’t stand a chance.”
As Josiah spoke, he casually lifted his gaze toward the group of thugs. Despite his severe injuries and his pale complexion, the
aura of authority he carried was still intimidating.
Meanwhile, while their attention was all focused on Josiah, Lysander seized the opportunity to silently rush up to the second
floor. She managed to escape outside, using the staircase built on the side of the outer wall.
Although Josiah didn’t say it outright, she understood everything when their eyes met.
He had arrived in haste, but she anticipated that others would be there soon as well. Instead of waiting helplessly inside, she
decided it would be better to quickly venture out and seek assistance.
Lysander hadn’t rested for a full day and night, not even taking a moment to eat or drink. She was physically drained, running
purely on fumes. It was her unwavering determination to save Josiah that kept her going, driving her
h the outside of the warehouse.
If she ventured a bit further, she might just encounter the person who came with Josiah.
Lysander gritted her teeth, persevering. Upon hearing footfall echoing from around the corner, she quickly called out for help, “I’m
here! Hurry up and save Josiah... He’s in the warehouse ahead...”
Her voice was hoarse, her throat dry as if she had swallowed a burning coal, but she still managed to muster all her strength to
raise her voice to its highest.
Upon hearing the sound, the person quickened their pace and walked over.
Hope ignited in Lysander’s heart. She believed they were on the brink of rescue. However, her expression froze the moment she
got a clear look at the newcomer’s face.
The person who appeared before her eyes was none other than Tiffany.

It was a rare sight to see Tiffany not dolled up to the nines. After she had dropped the pretense, she seemed somewhat eerie.
Strangely enough, her makeup was meticulously applied, with the color of her lipstick being exceptionally vivid.
She was a far cry from her usual image of being a docile and adorable doll.
Lysander looked at the towering bodyguards trailing behind Tiffany, fully aware that with her energy nearly depleted, escape was
impossible. She took a half step back, buying herself some time, and asked, “Tiffany, we have no grudges against each other.
Why are you doing this?”
“Lysa, how can you say that? Your very existence is the biggest mistake. If it weren’t for you, Jose would have definitely married
me by now. I could have had many children, and the Guerra and Lanister families would have united as one. Everything would
have been mine. It’s all your fault.”
Tiffany waved at her bodyguards, indicating them to seize Lysander. Only then did she sneer and instruct, “However, I’ve come
to realize that forcing things doesn’t make them better. Might as well have some fun while you all are here.”
Lysander listened to her chilling tone, feigning anger as she retorted, “Even without me, Josiah can never have a child with you.
Your womb is congenitally underdeveloped. With the current medical technology, it’s simply untreatable!”
This was the painful secret that Tiffa always wanted to hide.
If she showed her anger here, the people who had come searching with Josiah would surely notice.
A wild glint flashed in Tiffany’s eyes, but she quickly regained her composure and asked, “Are you trying to pick a fight with me,
deliberately stalling for time while waiting for backup?”
Lysander’s provocation strategy had failed.
Tiffany laughed confidently and said, “Do you think I’m as naive and foolish as Lyss? If I were in her shoes, I certainly wouldn’t
have ended up like her. She is ridiculously stupid.”
