Chapter 714
Chapter 714 I Will Be Waiting For You
I didn’t realize there are conflicts between them.
Lysander pondered for a moment, the idea in her head becoming clearer and clearer. “Write a ransom letter right now and send it
to Thorne Constructions and Energies. I am the only daughter of the Thorne family. My parents will agree to it.”
The leader, upon hearing her speak in such detail, visibly wavered in his resolve.
“The Thorne family...” He clearly had a greater desire. “Can the Thorne family immediately produce three million in cash?”
In truth, Lysander lacked confidence, but at that moment, all she could do was nod and say, “Of course.”
The thugs‘ eyes widened in disbelief when they heard the figure of three million. Their leader, in particular, could already envision
luxury cars and beautiful women beckoning to him. However, he wasn’t a leader for nothing. He wasn’t completely brainless.
Warily, he asked, “What if the Thorne family reports us to the police?”
“If you’re worried, you can take the money first before letting me go. They won’t call the police out of concern for my safety.”
A thug whispered into his ear, “Boss, don’t forget, she’s not just the only daughter of the Thorne family. She’s also Josiah’s
woman!”
The leader slapped his forehead. “Then... we can ask Josiah for another three million! That will make it six million in total!”
“Could the Thorne family’s wealth ever compared to that of Josiah? If the Thorne family could come up with three million, then
Josiah would surely have to come up with five... No, he’d have to come up with ten million!”
Another one chimed in, “But Josiah is with Ms. Lanister. How are we supposed to ask him for money? If we call him now, Ms.
Lanister will definitely find out...”
The leader was so obsessed with money that he completely missed Lysander’s subtle probing. He cursed under his breath,
“D*mn it, not a single one of these rich folks is honest. They keep the most valuable stuff for themselves while we, who risk our
lives, are left with nothing!”
Lysander felt a slight relief in her heart.
It seems that Josiah is indeed with Tiffany. At least his life is secure.
She said. “Then you could ask the Thorne family for a bit more. Although they might not be able to give a lot, an extra million or
two shouldn’t be too much of a problem.”
The leader turned around, his gaze sweeping over her. “I need to take something from you as proof, don’t I? How else are they
going to believe you’re with us?”
“Boss, should we consider chopping off one of her fingers?”
“Have you lost your mind? Don’t you understand who she is? Josiah did everything for her, even lived in that godforsaken
backwater, covered in dirt for days on end! If you so much as harm a single finger of hers, Josiah will lose it, and you won’t even
know what hit you when you’re dead!”
If they want to gain the Thorne family’s trust, it’s indeed essential to have something that can prove my identity.
Lysander said, “You can remove the buttons from my sleeve. My family has seen me in this outfit before.”
The leader was skeptical yet hopeful, swayed by the prospect of three million. He sent his most clever subordinate to deliver the
message. However, just as he was about to depart, the leader had a change of heart and raised his demands. “Wait a minute,
I’ve reconsidered. We should give them a chance to negotiate. Let’s ask for six million instead.”
“Boss, do you think we should still ask Guerra Group for money? If the Thorne family can’t provide this much, won’t we be at a
loss? This is our one and only chance to strike it rich in our lifetime!”
The leader seemed unwilling to back down, gritting his teeth. He tore another button from Lysander’s shirt and handed it to him.
“Then go and ask for it! Josiah isn’t around, but his secretary who has been with him for several years should have. some
authority. Ask for as much as you can!”
“Should I just ask for ten million, then?”
“The starting price is ten million; the lowest is five million. Tell her, if she doesn’t give us the money, her boss‘ wife’s life won’t be
guaranteed. Once Josiah returns, there will be a reckoning!”
“All right, all right, I get it. I’m going right now!”
Watching the thug walk away with the buttons, Lysander let out a deep sigh.
The Thorne family was likely capable of providing the money, but on Guerra Group’s side, with Carol absent, Olivia’s authority
was limited. Five million was probably out of the question.
It was uncertain whether Olivia was sharp enough to establish contact with Josiah.
Since their last phone conversation, almost a full day and night had passed. She wondered if he had figured out a way to
extricate himself from the situation. She had done everything within her power; all that–was left was to leave things up to fate.
Meanwhile, Josiah seemed to have sensed Lysander’s predicament. His hand trembled inexplicably, shattering the cup that
Tiffany insisted on handing him.
Water mixed with shards of glass was scattered all over the ground.
With great patience, Tiffany rose to her feet and said, “Jose, this is already your third glass of water. You’re not behaving well.”
She was constantly by Josiah’s side, seemingly intent on making him yield to her will.
Something was added to every glass of water.
From the start, Josiah had never shown her any kindness. The effects of the drug had significantly faded over time, but it was
still not enough to restore his strength to the point where he could escape from there.
From time to time, footsteps could be heard from downstairs. He had once seen Tiffany instructing the bodyguards outside the
room while he feigned unconsciousness.
Those people were his greatest obstacle.
As he pondered, Tiffany poured him a fourth glass of water, placing it before him. “Jose, my patience does have its limits. If you
don’t drink this glass, then Lysa might just...”
Josiah said coldly, “You don’t need to constantly use Lysander as a threat against me. You want me to drink this glass of water?
I’ll drink it, then.”
Tiffany watched as he drained the glass of water in one gulp. Yet, her face didn’t hold much joy. She scoffed, “Just as I thought,
only mentioning her seems to work.”
“I’m your target, not Lysander. Whatever you want to do, come at me.”
Tiffany sighed with a hint of regret. “Jose, you’re truly a good man. First, it was Lyss and now it’s Lysa. Any woman who captures
your heart is truly fortunate. But why can’t I be one of them? What do I lack compared to them?”
“Is there any water left?”
Tiffany was somewhat taken aback. “You want another drink?”
“I’m thirsty.”
Tiffany chuckled. “Sure, if you want to drink, then have as much as you want.”
Tiffany turned around to pour some water.
He swiftly picked up the shattered glass from the ground, subtly tucking it into his sleeve.
Tiffany had poured some water and turned around to hand it to him. “Jose, the corner of your mouth is so dry it’s turning white.
Drink some water and then make sure to rest well.”
Josiah couldn’t muster any strength in his body, but for the moment, there were no other reactions.
If it was just aphrodisiac, there wasn’t really anything to be afraid of.
With a sense of determination, Josiah picked up the glass of water and took several sips. Handing it back to her, he simply said,
“Get out.”
Tiffany had already planned everything in her heart, not minding his rather unpleasant attitude. “Jose, I can leave now, but later,
I’ll be waiting for you to beg me to come back in.
