Chapter 74
That day, Christy was extremely busy, and even when she went out to eat with Renee, she ran into Joshua, a notorious scumbag. She was so preoccupied that she even forgot about Victoria.
Feeling the genuine concern of her good friend, Christy was deeply moved.
“Victoria, I’m so sorry. So much has happened, and it’s hard to explain over the phone. Alan, Clara, and I are okay now.” Christy’s voice was tinged with emotion
Christy recalled the incidents where she was teased by Joshma last night and at noon, and felt particularly chagrined. Now, she really missed her friend, and the warm little nest her good friend provided. Her friend was the only person she could confide in
“Victoria, would it be convenient for me to come over for dinner tonight?” Christy asked, with a hint of earnestness.
Thinking about facing that irrational and unpredictable Joshua after returning to the villa, Christy wanted to escape from reality temporarily.
Christy felt that Victoria’s home was her safe haven.
“Christy, what nonsense are you talking about? My home will always be your home! You can just come over for a meal. You can even come over anytime you want and stay as long as you like!” Victoria replied with an extremely gentle and affectionate tone.
Victoria’s response made Christy feel warm again.
“Okay, Victoria, it’s a deal,” Christy said happily. “I’ll go grocery shopping after work.”
After hanging up the phone, Christy’s mind once again drifted to Joshua’s cold and domineering face.
Christy thought she should inform Joshua that she wouldn’t be having dinner at the villa tonight, so that he wouldn’t throw a tantrum and demolish the entire neighborhood where Victoria lived.
So, Christy picked up her phone again.
Your Man was the name clearly and conspicuously displayed in Christy’s contacts, occupying the most prominent position.
Every time she saw that nickname, Christy felt sickened.
After hesitating for a moment, Christy dialed the number anyway….
Meanwhile, in the meeting room, Joshua was having a meeting with the senior executives of Stellar Group.
Wherever Joshua appeared, the atmosphere would become tense, making everyone hesitant to even breathe loudly.
During every concluding meeting, everyone’s phones had to be set to silent, and they were not allowed to take calls or zone out. Otherwise, they would face severe consequences.
This rule was set by Joshua, and no one dared to defy it.
Just then, Joshua’s phone started vibrating!
Everyone’s faces immediately became serious and the person who was speaking even stopped.
Normally, Joshua wouldn’t take a call during such a meeting.
However, when Joshua saw the caller ID, a look of surprise flashed across his eyes.
Joshua realized that it was Christy, that stubborn little woman, who was calling him.
Christy had never given Joshua a good face, so he couldn’t understand why she would call him on her own initiative.
Joshua thought that Christy might be apologizing to him for what happened at the restaurant during lunch, which made her realize that she had made a mistake.
Joshua felt a sense of anticipation mingled with a feeling of being on edge.
He immediately picked up his cell phone, left the conference room, walked all the way to the terrace outside, found a corner where the people inside could not hear his conversation, and then carefully answered the phone.
“What’s the matter? Joshua asked in a calm voice.
“Listen carefully, Joshua. Tonight, I am going to a friend’s house for dinner and will be returning late. As Clara and Alan’s father, can you take care of them until I return?” Christy spoke in a slow and deliberate tone.
“Who are you going out to dinner with? A man or a woman?” Joshua’s face immediately darkened!
Instead of focusing on Christy’s request to take care of Alan and Clara, Joshua’s main concern was who Christy was going out to dinner with.
Joshua felt that Christy needed to be educated more than once! He thought it seemed that the lesson he gave her at noon was

not memorable enough.
“It’s a woman! My good friend Victoria! I have been staying at her house since I returned to the country. Alan’s and Clara’s things are still at her house! Wasn’t I supposed to move into your villa? I’m going back to get my things and have dinner while I’m at it. Is there a problem?” Hearing Joshua’s interrogative tone, Christy became angry.
Christy was very angry. She felt that Joshua had some sort of delusional jealousy. As soon as he heard that she was going out to dinner with someone else, he became agitated as if he had eaten a bullet.
“What’s the point of taking those old and dirty things? Throw them all away! Whatever you need, I’ll buy you the best!” Joshua was also angry.
“Who cares about your things? Some precious things can’t be bought with money.” Christy was unhappy and said, “I only promised you to live with you and Alan and Clara. I didn’t promise to have every meal with you. Why are you getting angry?”
Joshua didn’t know how to respond to this statement.
At that time, he regretted not adding accompanying him for dinner to the appointment so that he thought Christy, this little woman, would not have found every possible way and loophole to escape from him.
“Christy, you are the mother of Alan and Clara. Are you planning to just leave them behind like this?” Joshua questioned angrily.
“It’s just having dinner with friends. What’s the problem? I’ll come back after dinner. I’m not like you, who abandoned them, for five years without any care. If you can’t even take care of Alan and Clara for dinner, how can you be their father?” Christy retorted.
Joshua was extremely angry. He couldn’t believe that Christy had the audacity to argue with him again! And to top it off, she had insulted his ability as a father. Joshua was absolutely furious!
Just as Joshua was about to say something, Christy hung up the phone.
Joshua’s face had turned sour to the extreme!
No one had ever dared to hang up on Joshua before. Christy was the first in history.
Joshua sneered in his heart. “Very well, this woman has successfully provoked me.”
If Joshua didn’t show up on time for dinner with Christy tonight, then he wouldn’t be Joshua.
Joshua felt that Christy couldn’t escape from his sight, not even in the next life!
Suddenly, Joshua remembered something. He suddenly felt that the name Victoria sounded familiar?
Joshua suddenly remembered that Victoria was one of the few names on Christy’s scarce contact list.
He even began to suspect that Christy had a tendency towards autism.
He thought, as someone who was already so old, having only one friend was quite strange.
Joshua wasn’t interested in Victoria as long as he could confirm that Victoria was a woman and wouldn’t make him be cuckolded.
Joshua returned from the terrace and continued to lead the wrap–up meeting.
His expression was constantly changing.
Everyone was in a cold sweat from fright.
Everyone perceived that Joshua was standing far away, and they couldn’t hear the conversation, but they all saw his dreadful expression, as if he wanted to devour someone.
They wanted to know who could have upset Joshua.
The atmosphere grew even tenser during the next meeting, causing the speaker to be on pins and needles. Meanwhile, Joshua seemned noticeably distracted.
Working at Stellar Group was like being in a battle, and time flew by without even noticing it. After a busy day, Christy finally made it to the end of her shift.
She had Rocky drive her to the supermarket to buy some groceries before heading over to the Cloud Mansion, where Victoria lived.
