Chapter 157: Just a Woman, What's the Big Deal?
After Alexander was whisked off to the hospital, Director Grant was straight onto the phone with the Caine family, relaying Charlie's exact words. But Alexander's dad muttered a vague "ok" instead of a fiery outburst and hung up.
"What the heck does 'ok' mean?" Director Grant wondered, shaking his head in confusion.
He looked over at Alexander, who was out cold on the hospital bed with two broken ribs and a minor concussion. Alexander was in for a rough couple of weeks.
Handing over the job to a crew member, Director Grant left for the day. Given the drama, the next day, he expected Nancy to be a no-show. But to his surprise, Nancy arrived on time, and Charlie was with her. Yesterday's incident had made Charlie more vigilant. Meanwhile, Alexander woke up in the hospital in a world of pain, the anesthetic having worn off. He noticed the man in the room and barked, "I need water!"
When he finished speaking, a man appeared with a cup of water, offering him a straw.
Butler Collins was the right-hand man of Alexander's father.
His father had never interfered in his affairs before, no matter how reckless he was. The fact that Butler Collins had been dispatched this time signified the seriousness of the situation.
Butler Collins looked at Alexander and said, "The mess you've created this time is big. Even the Caine family might struggle to appease Charlie's anger."
Alexander frowned. "It's just a woman. What's the big deal? My dad is taking this too seriously. Why would Charlie risk a feud with us over a woman who cheated on him?"
Butler Collins, who had been holding
a glass of water, put it on the bedside table, seeing that Alexander
had no intention of drinking. He then
ve
told Alexander, "Have you feel better? If so, we'll head back to Liverton now."
"What?!"
"What?!" Alexander was shocked. "I'm not healed yet. How could I possibly go with you?"
Butler Collins replied, "If you don't return, what's your plan? To stay here and keep embarrassing yourself?Like it or not, you must follow the family's orders!" With a wave of his hand, two burly men
came in, roughly picked it bet
Alexander, and put him in a wheelchair.
Alexander yelped in pain, but he was too weak to resist.
The ride was tough; Alexander almost passed out from the pain. Once on the plane, he thought about Nancy's harsh face. "Why is Vivian acting so differently? It's like she's a completely different person.
