Chapter 10. Waking-Up Technique
The dragon was back. The leafy sea dragon. Its narrow face was pointed towards me; its round eyes, empty and cold, looked through me and saw everything, the deep hidden thoughts and unspoken secrets. Black was everywhere, but I knew I was dreaming. As a child, I had a simple technique to escape from my dreams. I would pry my eyelids open and manage to wake up after a while. But now that I was an adult, I was stuck in my dream, no longer able to will myself awake or fly away.
The dragon propelled itself along effortlessly and moved to show me its almost translucent profile. Once again its ragged branch limbs unfolded. Light shone out and engulfed me as I drifted out of consciousness and the taxi pulled up outside my house.
