Rain: Book 3 of Playing for Keeps

Chapter 34: One Week Later

It has been hell around the club. The woman goes about their business. They eat either before the men or after the men. And they all eat together. The men are getting blue balls as they say as their women are not talking to them. I have started working at the tattoo shop. I am a new receptionist. I had just scheduled a new appointment for Tats when the door opened up. I looked up and saw Beast standing there. May I help you I asked? I am here for an appointment with Tats. Please have a seat and I will let him know you are here. I watched Donna as she stood up and walked down the hall.

I walked back and told Beast that Tats will be with him in a minute. I had been answering the phone for most of the day and scheduling appointments for the artists. I did not notice that Beast watched me from where he was sitting. I was all business. He hurt me. He knows that woman. He had been seeing her for over six months. Donna, I looked over at him. I'm sorry he said. Sorry doesn't get it Beast tell that to your girlfriend. I looked at the clock and took my wallet from a drawer and locked the desk and shut the computer down.

I looked over at Tats and reminded him that I was going to be out of town for two weeks and would see him when I got back. Drive careful Donna. Tats seems like you are the only one who cares. Maybe having an accident might be in my best interest these days. I turned and walked out of the door. I got in my car and drove to the club. I was headed to my cabin in Virginia. I was taking my Trailblazer. I walked past several members who looked at me with sad eyes. I was to be claimed by Beast this weekend. But that now is not going to happen. Instead, the club is just having a family BBQ of which I will not be present.

I walked to my room and packed two suitcases and made sure I had my medications before walking out of the door and out of the club. I needed to be away from here. It is tearing me apart knowing my claiming day was going to be here in three days and it will not take place. I got in my trailblazer and drove to I-75 and headed to the cabin. I will stop in town to buy the groceries I would need before heading to the cabin. I have a five hours drive ahead of me.

I drove for three hours before I pulled off the highway and into the parking lot of a small restaurant. I saw bikes sitting in the lot and I mean a lot of them. I walked in and the waitress said welcome. Take a seat anywhere. I looked around and saw a small table I walked past the bikers and sat down. I opened the menu and decided to have a half order of biscuits and gravy and coffee with two creams. I did not notice that I had no sparkle in my eyes or spirit. I turned and looked out of the window. I also did not notice several bikers looking at me.

I heard my phone ring and saw it was Rain. Hey, Rain. I have two more hours to drive and then I will have another 15 minutes before I get to the cabin. I'm alright. Rain, don't worry. I am not going to do anything stupid. I just could not be there this weekend. I am sorry. It was supposed to be the day he claimed me did you forget? You worry too much Rain. I am the oldest remember? I am supposed to worry about all of you. Yes, I brought my migraine pills. Yes, I brought my other medication.

I have plenty of pills. I am sure the town has a pharmacy if I run out. I promise to call you once a day. I laughed. You who hates to drive on the freeway will drive for five hours to the cabin if I don't call. I would like to see that. By the time you arrived, you would need a sedative. I know. I am sorry too. Tell Star not to worry about me. I really laughed then. Send me a picture of that. I wish I had been there to see that. She actually dumped a bucket of water over Beasts head? She may be short like us but she sure as hell is not scared of her 6' 7" brother. I will be home in two weeks. Tell me Rain, how is Rage holding up to the silent treatment? Good for you. Love you too little sister. I hung the phone up and sat it down and looked back out the window.

I am the president of the Night Hawk MC here in Virginia. My name is Raven. I could not stop looking over at the woman. She looks like she lost the love of her life. She has no sparkle in her eyes. She looks like she lost everything that mattered to her. I watched as she paid her bill before walking out and getting in her trailblazer.
