Chapter 4

Chapter 4 Please Behave Yourself

Bridget slowed down in her tracks.

Then she smiled, not expecting herself to get timid when seeing someone she had not seen for a long time.

She quickened her pace, but when she was about 2 meters from Nigel, two bodyguards stopped her.

She ignored them and asked the most important question, “Are you getting engaged to Yasmin?”

If it was true, there would be no need for her to pester him anymore.

Bridget could let go.

With all these years of searching, she wanted nothing but a result.

Nigel was sitting on the sofa. His cheeks were chiseled, and his features were astonishingly good-looking. The tailored suit he wore perfectly fitted in every detail and made him look even more noble.

At the mention of Yasmin, he frowned subconsciously and resistively. He said, “No.”

With a gleam of satisfaction in her eyes, Bridget asked, “Where have you been all these years? What really happened back then?”

Nigel glanced at her and brought the petite Kristy in front of him, saying coldly, “Ms. Cole, get your daughter out of here.”

Ms. Cole?

His distant callousness and the way he addressed her finally made

Bridget realize something was wrong.

Kristy, who was brought to the front, was confused. “Mommy, why did Daddy say he didn’t know you?”

Bridget was stunned. “You don’t know me?”

A strand of impatience flashed across Nigel’s eyes. “Should I know you?”

He thought, “The girl was all over me, hugged my thigh, and called me her Daddy the second I went out of the airport. She wouldn’t let go whatsoever. I was helpless, so I called the girl’s mother.

“Who knows? The woman is even weirder, speaking to me in such a familiar tone as soon as we met.”

As he was thinking, Bridget suddenly sidled nimbly away from the bodyguards and ran straight to him.

“Watch out, Mr. Moyer!”

When the bodyguards exclaimed, she had already rushed to his side. His eyes suddenly became sharp. The next moment, his wrist was clutched by her, and she took the opportunity to sit beside him.

Her soft finger reached his lips as her delicate features zoomed in in front of him. She had a charm in her eyes as she said, “Be quiet.”

There was something familiar about her eyes. Somehow, Nigel didn’t say anything as she asked.

The bodyguards around them were stunned. They weren’t sure what they should do given Nigel’s reaction.

Half a minute had passed.

The hand on his lips moved to his forehead and touched it.

Bridget hesitated and said, “You have no fever, no memory loss, or no brain damage…

She glanced at him. “You’re pretending?”

Nigel’s expression changed. He suddenly stood up and took a step back, distancing himself from her. “Ms. Cole, please behave yourself.”

Bridget leaned back on the sofa and tilted her head, her eyes glowing. “Isn’t it a bit late to tell me to behave myself after I gave birth to your kids?”

Oliver, who was standing next to the bodyguards, was confused at the moment. Of course, he knew her, the daughter of the Cole family in Nalpure. He exclaimed, “Bridget, you mean Nigel is your lost boyfriend?”

She nodded. “That’s right.”

Oliver was gossipy and said, “But Nigel only went back once five years ago for a week. You and your boyfriend dated for six months, right? Have you and Nigel been dating online?”

Bridget sat up slowly. “He’s been at Nalpure. We go out every weekend.”

Oliver said, “You aren’t a great con, are you? I told you that Nigel’s been out of the country. At least round up your lie, OK?”

She frowned.

She thought, “He was abroad all this time?

“But I remember every day we dated clearly.

“Did I mistake him?”

Bridget was sure she wouldn’t make a mistake, but just to be on the safe side, she stood up and said to Nigel, “I’ll do a DNA test and get back to you after I get the results.”

Then she turned around and was about to leave.

While holding Nigel’s wrist, she pulled out one of his hair. After she took out a bag from her pocket and put his hair inside, she hurried home to find Hayden and was about to take him to the DNA verification facility.

Waiting at home for news, Hayden looked behind her and looked around, asking, “Mommy, where’s Kristy?”

Bridget said, “With your daddy.”

She left Kristy there so that Nigel could go for a DNA test as well.

***

Nigel was at the VIP lounge in the airport.

The bodyguards bowed their heads. “Failing to stop Ms. Cole was all our mistake.”

Nigel looked sullen. “This will only happen once.”

“Yes.”

Oliver was aside. He cautiously asked, “Nigel, what should we do about the girl?”

Nigel lowered his head to look at Kristy, who was tugging at his hem. She raised her head, her eyes crystal-clear with trust and admiration. “Where is your home?” he asked, trying not to be angry.

Kristy shook her head. “I don’t know, Daddy.”

“Don’t call me your daddy.”

“OK, Daddy.”

Nigel was speechless for a second.

The veins on his forehead throbbed. “Forget it. Take her back for now.”

They got in the car.

On the way back, Kristy, with slight social phobia, sat in the safety seat/obediently and tried to be invisible as hard as possible, but the expressions on her face changed all the time. She was sometimes excited and sometimes confused.

She thought, “I’m so overjoyed that I’m about to go to Daddy’s place.

“But I’m sure there are a lot of people there, and I’m so terrified.”

Nigel actually found her cute when observing her expressions.

They soon reached the Moyer’s mansion.

Kristy was already asleep, leaning back in her seat, her head lowered.

After a moment of silence, Nigel picked her up and got out of the car.

Nearly fifty years old but well-maintained Roslyn stepped forward. “Nigel, you finally came back.”

Seeing the girl in his arms, she was surprised. “This is?”

Roslyn reached out and grabbed Kristy from Nigel’s arms. Sensing her movements, Kristy woke up in a daze.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes and saw many people.

Instantly, she buried her head in Roslyn’s arms.

Roslyn was stunned.

Kristy was cute with the sweet smell of milk, causing Roslyn to tighten her arms and ask in a soft voice, “Where are you from?”

Kristy said, “I’m from my Daddy.”

She replied politely as Hayden had taught her.

Roslyn grinned and said to Nigel, “Another price to for your frivolous life?”

She said “another” for a reason.

Five years ago, Nigel returned home for a week and was tricked into having sex with a woman.

Ten months later, Yasmin went to the door with her newborn baby in her arms.

They went for a DNA test, and the baby was indeed Nigel’s.

Roslyn wouldn’t let Nigel’s bloodline wander out there, so she kept the baby and named the baby Royce Moyer.

Thinking, Roslyn looked at Kristy. “Who is your mommy?”

Kristy answered in a childish voice, “Bridget Cole.”

Roslyn frowned. Bridget again?

Bridget made a scene at the banquet today, and Kristy was cute. Roslyn suddenly wished Kristy were really her granddaughter.

Roslyn suddenly opened her mouth. “Go ahead for a DNA test.”
