Chapter Remarriage You 431
Chapter 431 Deciding On His Own Accord
When Lenora exited the police station, she couldn't help but chuckle.
She hadn't paid attention to the details.
After learning about Zachary's plan, she would observe his gaze and expression and easily discern his intentions.
His gaze couldn't deceive her.
Lenora saw Zachary's eyes subtly reveal a hint of sorrow, yet he had no choice but to speak harshly to her while keeping a cold face. He thought he was doing an excellent job at disguising his feelings. This made her want to laugh even more. Lenora remembered how heartbroken she was when she saw Susanna in Zachary's office.
Who would have known? It turned out everything was a lie.
She was heartbroken for no reason.
She wanted to get her revenge on Zachary, letting him experience the same emotional turmoil.
It was now Zachary's turn to suffer.
Who gave him the right to decide on his own accord?
Zachary had no right to make the decision for Lenora.
He thought he was doing what was best for her, but it was far from what she truly desired.
That being said, Lenora did toy with Zachary, but she still had to find a way to help him. She couldn't just let him be convicted.
But how should I save him?
Lenora believed Zachary would not commit white-collar crime.
While the investigation was still ongoing, there was no guarantee that the opposition wouldn't fabricate evidence to accuse Zachary.
Faked evidence would have flaws.
Therefore, the higher-ups' viewpoint was crucial. They could undoubtedly clear Zachary's name if they remained committed to uncovering the truth. Lenora instantly thought of Matthew.
He was a big shot who frequently made the news.
If he was willing to defend Zachary, Zachary would surely be safe.
Yet, Matthew was always occupied with numerous affairs. He would be chauffeured around daily, with bodyguards at his side.
How could Lenora possibly arrange a meeting with him?
She then thought of Zephyr.
That day at the police station, she and Sophia noticed Matthew was particularly fond of Zephyr.
She needed Zephyr's assistance to meet with Matthew.
Later, Lenora asked Jermaine for Zephyr's contact details and immediately made a call.
The ringtone rang for a few seconds.
The call connected, and Zephyr's voice came through from the other end of the line. "Hello?"
"It's me, Lenora," Lenora spoke in Clusian.
"What's the matter?" Zephyr also switched to Clusian.
"Zephyr, there's something I need your help with."
"Why should I help you?" Zephyr said.
Lenora knew Zephyr's intention, so she took the initiative and said, "Here's the deal. As long as you agree to help me, I will delete the photos I took that day and promise never to bring them up again in front of SugarSoph." However, she had already taken a photo and sent it to Sophia.
Sophia had already uncovered Zephyr's true nature. Whether Sophia had a photo of him or not, it didn't matter.
Hence, Lenora didn't consider it as betraying Sophia. If it weren't for that previous photo she sent, she definitely wouldn't have made the promise to Zephyr.
She was sure that Zephyr was at a disadvantage.
Zephyr weighed Lenora's words and asked, "First, tell me, what do you need my help with?"
"I want to meet Mr. Matthew Xenos, so I need your help introducing me."
Instantly, Zephyr understood Lenora's purpose and chuckled, "So, you want to save Zachary?"
"Yes," Lenora replied.
Zephyr sneered. "You betray your best friend for a man. Have you ever considered, if I were a bad guy, your actions today could have put Sophia in doom eternally?" "But you're not a bad person, are you? Will you tell me whether you agree or not?" Lenora asked.
Zephyr fell silent for a moment. "Alright, I'll help you. Once I confirm the meeting date, I'll get in touch with you."
"I hope to meet Mr. Xenos as soon as possible," Lenora replied, a hint of mockery tugging at the corner of her lips.
Even though Zephyr's tone was stern and righteous, his actions contradicted his words, and agreed to help Lenora.
"All right." After Zephyr ended the call and turned around, he saw Isla standing behind him. She didn't make a noise, so he didn't notice she had arrived.
"Who was on the phone?" Isla asked, casting Zephyr a suspicious glance.
"A business acquaintance." Zephyr casually slipped his phone into his pocket, unbothered.
"I don't believe you," Isla said with her lips pursed. Her large eyes fixed intently on Zephyr. "I heard a woman's voice just now."
She and Zephyr were in the living room when he suddenly received a phone call and left, acting all secretive and suspicious.
The person who called him was surely Fay.
Isla had no idea what favor Fay had asked of him, and he readily agreed.
"I think you misheard it," Zephyr replied without changing his expression. "Let's go inside."
"No, I don't. Stop... stop right there!" Isla called out while following behind Zephyr.
Seeing Zephyr walking away without looking back, Isla stomped her foot in frustration.
Meanwhile, Lenora had settled in a hotel.
Zephyr gave her a call the following afternoon.
He told her that he had already contacted Matthew's secretary. The secretary informed him that Matthew would dine with other leaders at a restaurant that evening. After finishing the meal, Matthew could spare half an hour to meet Lenora.
At that time, Zephyr would watch Lenora delete the photos.
From what Zephyr implied, he had arrived in Clusia.
At half past eight in the evening, Lenora arrived at the restaurant ahead of time.
The restaurant was exquisitely decorated, secure, and secluded. There was no common dining area, only private rooms exclusively catering to esteemed guests.
Lenora had booked a private room, waiting inside. She then sent a message to Zephyr.
It wasn't long before Zephyr pushed the door open and sat directly across from Lenora.
Lenora glanced at him, taking the initiative to say, "Once I meet Mr. Xenos, I'll delete the photos."
"Okay," Zephyr replied.
It was past nine when Zephyr left the private room for a while, taking quite some time before he returned.
He didn't come in. Instead, he stood at the door. "The dinner party is over. You can come now," he said.
"All right." Lenora immediately stood up, took her purse, and followed Zephyr.
When they reached another private room, Zephyr knocked on the door twice.
Lenora recognized the person who opened the door. It was Matthew's secretary.
"Greetings, Mr. Yankovich." The secretary nodded in acknowledgment towards Zephyr, then turned his gaze toward Lenora.
Zephyr nodded while sidestepping slightly. He signaled Lenora with his eyes. "You go in then."
"All right." Lenora stepped forward and nodded toward Matthew's secretary.
The secretary cleared a space, whispering, "Keep it short."
"Thank you, I know." Later, Lenora entered the private room.
The crowd must have dispersed not long ago, as a faint scent of cigarette smoke and liquor still lingered in the air.
The private room was spacious. On the round table to the right, there were remains of food, along with some leftover drinks and packs of cigarettes.
On the left, Matthew was seated on the couch, leaning against the backrest relaxedly. His right arm was draped over his eyes as if he was resting with his eyes closed. "Hello, Mr. Xenos," Lenora spoke softly.
Upon hearing Lenora's voice, Matthew lowered his arm and glanced at her. His eyes squinted as if he had just awakened from a sleep. "Oh, it's you. What brings you here?" "Does Mr. Xenos still remember me?" Lenora was surprised.
"I do, you're Zachary's wife." Matthew paused, then continued. "Did you come to see me because of him?"
Lenora nodded. "Since Mr. Xenos is aware, I'll cut to the chase. After Zachary takes over the Fuller Group, he has been dutiful and conscientious. He also attends charity events, actively supports government policies, and contributes to the development of Jacaster. He would never engage in any illegal activities."
"If that's the case, why did you come looking for me?" Matthew asked.
